its a shame Herlings already had so many DNF this season , could have been a lot closer
116th GP win for Herlings 🏆
Nice race by Gajser, bummer he had wheel issue moto 1.

Great and under rated rider. BTW do you know what happened to Pete Mathia?
If anyone else was curious, the Dunlop 250 guys were on Mx14s (Valin and Triumphs anyway).
Had a bit of an off. Bit banged up but ok.
Thanks for the correction Rob 👍🏻

It would be more like 12 to 9 points without the DNFs but the season is still long!
You know what the track was kind of cool. Formed some nice ruts and the big hills looked cool on tv. Good racing too.
A few riders weren't fans of it though.
Man that Garcia is dominating emx250. Its going to be an issue for the other emx250 hopefulls looking for an mx2 ride for next year.
Except for Cannon (if he stays in Europe...).
Just finished watching all the motos. Did it rain between the first and second motos? Track looked way better for moto 2 in both classes.
Yup. Nature's watering system, did a good job too.
Pit Row
That track was as close to old school 80s and some 90s racing we are going to get.
Natural terrain, hills. No water. Blue groove hard packed. No big jumps, no ruts.
Don't want to ever hear people saying it was better before again about tracks 😂
I agree, I enjoyed watching the best riders tackling an old skool track, blue groove, hard edges, on a hill, off cambers, through the trees, really unique (to today’s standards).
I enjoyed the races. I had questions about the fences, but the track prep and layout was refreshing. Some great passes due to riders being able to work around the track and be creative.
No video about Kay de Wolf crash?
Some of the tight 180 degree corners, where they were literally sliding into it, made it really fun to watch. Also the chicanes in the tree/woods section were nice to see these guys go from left to right behind each other. Gajser rubbing Adamo into the barriers also was a nice corner. The right hander after that one made up for several passes too. Febvre madea lot of passes. McLellan too, he rode absolutely amazing moto 2.
It was a good GP, nice to see the riders having to work for grip , and make line choices instead of Rut-O-Cross.
Typical Italian track, can we go to Cingoli next?
Slower track = better racing.
To me, this GP was one of the greatest examples of the USP that MXGP has. The variety of tracks and track surfaces. As a rider in this series, you and your team has to be able to race every single track style and condition.
What is the name of the Italian track where Roczen rode a 125 after winning the title? If I remember correctly Michael Leib had a stand out ride there.
I think that might have been Fermo. Can picture it in my head now. Leib was on Steve Dixon's Yamaha for a few races wasnt he?
The Fences:
Yup, they do look a bit 'scary'.
However ( to me ), more scary is with tracks like that, being without some approach to Not having riders spear off into / onto other sections, and the other racers.
Tracks, due to the terrain available - in this case, on the top of a Height / Mountain, that are set at different levels, with straights parallel to each other, well , there's the distinct possibility of a prang, where a rider goes off the side, down, onto the other section of track. Or, in the case of a corner that has a drop to the track below / after it.
So, I see Fences like those, as somewhat, well, Bloody Well Necessary.
The Chain Link / Wire link, I think needs to be used as against say, snow fencing type, for strength, and, well, less propensity of a bike / body parts getting caught in it. I noted that it is a fair bit smaller in the 'diamonds' created by the links than more common Chain / Wire link - so, not as likely as to 'catch / hook' things.
And, the Wooden Posts : Perhaps strong enough to give support , but of the type of wood that can break / bend controllably / less catastrophically? Certainly more forgiving than steel posts.
That track has been around for a Long time - and is a Permanent Facility - note the Concrete Grand Stands.
So, I think / expect / hope, the club has gone through a Lot of evolutions / experimentation for it to operate ( relatively) safely.
I think it was a Great Track - something thankfully, different to the ever present Ripped Deep, Rut Fest / attempt to 'Chocolate Cake' thing that we see. That just seem to reward 'pinning it'. Awkward jumps that even some of the very best riders can't clear, due to either the section before them, or what is coming afterward : it's something different , that has it's difficulties.
And, Difficult, should be within the sport.
"Sketchy". Having to work out how not to lose the front, or rear, on hard pack / slippery surfaces, and Not having a Rut / Berm to hold you up - well, Riders need to deal with it. Throttle and Brake Control is a skill . Most of we riders here, ride in far from perfect conditions - these Great Riders, should have it hard / tricky, too.
It was a fantastic GP, I loved every second of it, and would love to ride such a demanding circuit, even at my Puttering Pace. That those riders can do it at their Stellar Speeds, is Magnifcent to see.
Hey Kaidodragon, thank you for taking the time to post all those results and awesome stats for us Vitards.
Many of us here appreciate it.
