You don't honestly believe that he wouldn't have taken that smoother, faster, easier cheater line the other laps we didn't see... do you?

Like... why would he change it?

Are you suggesting he'd have a change of moral consciousness halfway through the moto? Cause his post-race interview sure as shit didn't suggest that!

Since this is Vital and arguing semantics is Paramount, they have video evidence of him cutting the tracks six times not seven.

The reason I say that is(nod to the GOAT), he was docked six positions for cutting the track not seven, he was docked one  position for accelerating off the track. The penalty is actually posted somewhere in this or one of the other 200 threads about Deegan.

I heard on one pod he was noted for taking that line 12 times during the race but there was only tv footage of him doing it 6 times plus the off track excursion so he got off lightly with just 7 spots.

JT$ had a pretty good memory of all the tracks he's done the same thing at in the past. not an isolated thing.

Is it also reasonably safe to assume that hunter did it more then he was docked for?

potentially. i'd need to know if he was ever on camera not doing it. i'd need to know the circumstances where he WAS viewed doing it and the severity with which he cut the track. i'd also want to know if he has any history doing similar. its just inductive reasoning people.

according to someone on here, accelerating off track is not grounds for a penalty tho. vital..

the AMA actually getting it mostly right just shows you how few IQ points it takes to make a call on track cutting, yet people are still here defending it.

off topic, but we should either have race radios, or in-race drive through penalties, because otherwise, the AMA should have docked him for 12 occurrences if that's what they observed. obviously, he should be given a chance to correct and that's where the drive through or race radio comes in. maybe just an AMA official red pit board message "stop cutting" instead iono.

There’s a rumor that the AMA is going to start electrifying fences outlining the tracks. Should be shocking to some.

Track officials at the corners to taze offenders would be so entertaining!

And it was at this point in the multi page thread where Sandberm went looking for the stop notification tab. 🙄

Being happy that an often- ridiculed sport governing body finally gets a call mostly correct is normal.

Just like if you were to ever make a post that wasn't really stupid or off-putting. If that unlikely thing ever happened, most of us would be surprised and delighted.

the ama apparently getting a ruling correct is not as objective as you make it seem

Jett hitting the gate last year and getting docked a lap was them getting the call correct, wasn’t it?

All my homies hate the AMA no matter who is getting fucked

I love how the press is acting like deegan really stepped it up this weekend, he was running with them!

Was he though? He looked like he was completely riding over his head, making mistakes everywhere, cutting the track, then 2 crashes. I can kind of hang with some A riders for a lap or 2, but I'm absolutely terrified when doing it. Just because I can hang for a lap or 2 doesn't mean I'm that fast. It just means I'm dumb enough to ride above my ability level (mid pack B ) sometimes. I'm definitely out of control when doing it, and I'm well aware of that.

How can people in the press not see the same thing with him?

Hate to break it to you, but if you don’t think Deegan rode better this weekend then you’re completely clueless. Of course he’s gonna look uncomfortable riding at the Lawrence Brothers speed, this level of riding is new to him. The only way for him to get comfortable at these speeds is to keep forcing himself out of his comfort zone for longer periods of time. He did that this weekend and was able to hang with the leaders in Moto 1 for a few laps and even managed a pass for second place and applied pressure to the leader. Both, are something he’s never done before and he’s only had raced MX four times previously.

Like it or not, Deegan is definitely trending in the right direction: starts are getting better and more consistent, he is advancing through the pack quicker, managed to pass for second place, applying pressure to the leader for longer periods of time. These are all good signs for him and what eventually leads to winning races.

Note, I’m very well of the “creative line” he took during Moto 1. Honestly, I don’t really blame him as he’s trying just about everything to reach a guy that’s faster than him.

Well, if you heard it on a pod or read it on the internet it must be true.

Now it's 10+ times?  Before it was 7.  It just keeps growing and growing and growing.

I can pretty much agree with you BUT he really needs to change mentally - sit down and critique his own race, by that I mean what is not working?  Trying to bulldog the bike is holding him back, compare his split times to others to show he needs to get more finesse his riding BUT this should be part of growing up.

Feel free to flame away but point of not no way am I a fanboy

The GOAT has spoken. Confirming the sport is getting more pussified by the day.

Good point by RV and RC. But it’s a legit call by the AMA. At least they penalized Hunter and Prado too, even though Deegan was focused on.

Yeah man that's how i get my steps in

But DAMN an antique meme first and now a safe space joke?? I really like this best friend coordinated throwback thing you guys are leaning into, very friendship bracelet vibes. Do you guys both wear Deegan jerseys when you're together or is it more of a taking turns type thing?

Can I just admit that I like being a hater?

Something about his personality bothers me and I relish in his misfortune. Not that I would want anything serious to happen to him, just that when he gets into stuff like this it's funny and entertaining to me. I even enjoy watching him win sometimes. If there is one thing that's undeniable, he can ride that mfer, and the racing is better from him and all his flaws. I'll probably be happy when he wins his first race (this season no doubt) on some level, but I'm still a hater.

Gives me a reason to cheer for the Lawrence bros. God knows being a Chase fan was getting difficult. I'm probably becoming something of a chase hater because of how things have been going.

I will say though when I heard he would be penalized I figured it would be 1, maybe 2 pos. 7 is a bit much AMA... Probably better to be a time penalty  All this to say the AMA had better put some serious thought into a rulebook overhaul. Far too much BS this year. I hardly even remember hearing about a penalty last year.
