With all the new 2 strokes coming out, thought it might be fun to shine a little spotlight and show some love for the trusty ol' YZ's. Had mine for 3 years now, she's fun, rides like a dream, and fires up every time I ask her to.
So, show em if you got em, and tell us if or why you love it.
She aight...
A few of mine.
Is this the longest-running production dirt bike at this point?
Absolutley in love with mine. It’s a 2011 with way too much time & money invested into it. Absolute blast of a bike!

Just picked up a 26,this is my 5th yz 250. one of my favorite bikes
Eli? 😎
I may be in the minority but mine sucks ass with practically no power and horrible off jumps.
82 wasn’t the greatest YZ250 ever, but it was pretty damn good!
So I’m told. I think I got a lemon
It is yellow after all..
Haha Indeed. Well played👍😁
I’m clueless to sales numbers for current YZ250 sales. I’d bet both Austrian and Beta numbers are better but that’s just a guess. I’d also guess if Yamaha had good sense they would scrap the kick start and add electronic’s like Beta and the new green bike but hang on to the pre mix. Pre mix seems to work for Beta. Works for the Beta in my garage.
How it cow, Rick, you actually rode the YZ490 and survived? 😳
Yeah big ET3 fan here. I was in the process of giving the bike a makeover and seen Pete posted here from Legends & Heroes about having bikes to display at races and it got me thinking. Inspired by the DirtShark TwoMac video I decided to build a replica ET3 YZ. I was lucky enough to display the bike at RedBud & IronMan back in 2025. Sadly Eli never got to see the bike. I just really wanted a picture with him & the bike but it never worked out. I did get to talk with his former mechanic Josh Ellingson who absolutely loved the bike and was a really just badass down to earth guy. He gave me Eli’s air box cover at Redbud and then at Ironman I got his number plate from the Washougal round. I did go to Ironman MXoN and get Eli to sign the number plate which was pretty cool

Here is mine.
You just can't beat the look a white Yamaha.
Awesome 👍
Yamaha 2026 70th anniversary
Thank you Yamaha for making all these YZs!
That's not true man. There's a huge market for two strokes that are simple and also do not cost $10 or $11k.
