I’m sold. Deposit down.
I don't see a slipper clutch but a damper or "cush drive" on the hub to absorb shock?

This just in..
Deeg's should run that just to F with them
I'm sure it's good, but that look is right up there with the 1994 purple car-crash. It's not just the blue rear, but just the lack of finesse in how it's done and the horrific huge Honda logo.
Not that it matters, anyone who can drop that much on a bike usually sets aside a bit more for graphics or plastics anyway.
Some of you photo shop guys need to put Jett’s purple and yellow number plates on that because that is what we are going to see tomorrow!
At first I didnt like the look, but I have to say it's growing on me a bit, it looks better outside of stock photos.
Where would it have placed in this year’s shootout just from your first impression ?
Watched Swap and Pinger's videos. Then I watched Michael's...
The young critical thinker that I knew from when he was a young suspension tester was present in that video. The explanations of what's changed, how it works & how that changes chassis balance/feel...well...damn...that was nice to see and hear...just like the good ol' days.
Stoked with how Honda went about releasing this and bringing this crowd of moto-heads to Japan for a thorough explanation of what they've developed.
And. yes, I want the WE...and the RX.
Well, if it grew on me I'd get some herbicide... and quick. 😄
I think it was ML that explained the shape of the rubber dampers allowed it to "wedge" while driving forward and slip when letting off. It made sense when it was explained to me.
without easy access air box. 2027 and 10000 $
I had hoped the RX version would have a 6-speed gearbox, or 5 I had hoped the RX version would have a 6-speed gearbox, or 5 semi-wide ratio transmission. they haven't even changed the tank.
See an HRC 450 in my future.
I have wanted some blue back in the CRs for a while (KX too), this is not it.. Had they stuck with red plastics, a blue seat, and blue accents in the graphics, it would have been sweet.
10lbs down and more HP sounds like a nice change though.
Gotta admit I was wrong about the looks of the factory Hondas by adding blue to the seat and red to the rear fender really makes these bikes look good….almost Troy Lee like.
The first time I saw Bradshaws red rear graphics I thought they looked awful, Two weeks later I had a set on my YZ250
Pit Row
Ok… with jetts smx plates the new color scheme and graphics look sick. Yes its the old bike, but it shows it can look good in certain situations.
Honda had blue seats waaay before TLD. I’m thinking about my blue seat 83 CR250, with the kicker on the wrong damn side! Needs Gold wheels to pull off the Blue.
I think the blue seat helps the flow of the blue. And the little blue they added to the shrouds . I've never been a fan of logos angled like that. But that's just me. As a graphics maker, I like the lines of the plastic on the bike and I'm excited to do some of them up. The shroud design of the 25 and 26 CRFs made it harder to place logos than the 21-24 and this new bike .
It is insane that they were able to drop 9.9lbs and that's not a bigger deal in the replies. The blue fenders that most likely didn't cost anything different than red is grabbing all of the attention. I was thinking they wanted to make sure it looked different since it lost so much weight and has such major changes. And doing it all red with a similar graphic might not have grabbed as much attention. And they know plastic is easy enough to change. Keeping the seat red makes it easy enough for somebody to swap out the rear fender and plates and have a Red CRF again if they want. And they don't have to mess with the seat cover .
I know that…my point was that they have taken some styling cues from the Troy Lee bikes by using the blue on side of the seats red on top and adding a red stripe on the blue rear fender…very similar to the TL Gas Gas bikes…
Are those Jetts bike shoulders cycra or some prototype openings are too big for stock ones?
10 pounds is freaking huge! How did they engineer that?
Imagine losing 10# of meat off your body
Has Honda indicated what the engine weighs now? KTM says their 450 engine weighs 59 lbs. While the Honda improvements look great, the weight and HP take them to what KTM has had for awhile. Time will tell how the handling, power delivery, and suspension compares.
And how reliable/durable it will be.
I'm curious to see if the weight loss might lead to reliability issues. I assume these are oil passageways that are visible from the side of the cases now? Is this part of what creates the weight reduction? Why has it taken 20+ years of 4 stroke development to try this? Are these going to be weak spots now?

KTM no fuel weight is 227. Honda is 225. Both have 1.9 gal tanks.
Honda appears to have done a great job with this bike. I will definitely be interested once it’s new bike time.
That's the thing I was wondering too. Honda has a history of the 450's being pretty solid as far as reliability.
It seems more and more people are willing to give up long-term durability for short term gains. With so many things becoming disposable these days. I wonder if Honda is allowing the performance side to take away from the long term durability side with the way KTM's have been so popular. A lot of guys that ride KTM's that I know get bikes much more often than when they ride a japanese bike.
It will be interesting to see if durability is impacted ,and if so how much . The computer programs and ability to test in ways that are not possible in the real world seem to be helping push some things to new levels. Maybe it will be as durable or more?
Its exciting to see such major changes in a single model year bike. With brands milking out slight weight loss each year a little at a time so they have room to improve. I wonder if this tells us more about the future than we think? I wonder what they have up their sleeves for the next gen MX bikes? Interesting to think about.
Totally agree.
