Didn't Jordans team just win a lawsuit behind the charter  monopoly?

What do major stick and ball sports and other types of racing do? Legitimate question as I have no idea. But do they let people with YouTube channels cover the event from the floor?

Kym Illman goes to all the F1 races to photograph the events and he's a YouTuber.

That said, they don't just let anyone photograph and interview the drivers. They have to fill out paperwork and get on the approved list. I believe one of the questions/requirements is what kind of value can you bring to the sport.

BTW, great channel.

Kym Illman has a huge following on YouTube and brings a certain level of professionalism to his work.

Constant chatter about “grow the sport.”  Then when the promoter try’s to make it more professional, what sounds  limiting the amount of media, people get pissed. There is zero chance of “growing the sport” when the core fan base is never happy.

We can all thank Johnny Hopper’s press conference questions for this decision

That was more about nascar forcing teams to sign under duress and some other shenanigans, charters as a tool aren’t illegal or anything. Indy just moved to a charger system as well

I think Feld is trying to get rid of some of the “journalists” that have fewer followers/subscribers than the average fan. I doubt they boot out the legit journalists and photographers.

However it was interesting to hear that Feld wants to own all of their content they create at the stadium. That will certainly be a step backwards for fan entertainment. Hopefully it doesn’t change the amount of Press Day videos and interviews we get because I look forward to those every week.

lol, legit journalist…what qualifications are required to be a legit moto journalist??

You’ve got to know a guy who had a friend that knew a girl that met a person who heard from someone’s dad that’s uncle used to race Bay Mare who’s retirement home nurse knows a doctor who treats all the moto guys and gets all the info.

Case in point. Why has there been no “legit journalist” reach out to Sexton about the Fahies comments?  If they have why has nothing been reported?  Even a “we reached out to Sextons PR team and they have no comment.”  Just crickets other then a few people saying he misspoke.

It’s their show. Why should just anyone be able to monetize their show?

you're right all the manufacturers should have to run the same color plastic, and gear companies shouldnt be allowed to put their logo on their own gear. people should race purely for teh love of teh sport, and we're so lucky to have the felds providing this opportunity to us, themselves singlehandedly growing the sport for us over decades with their incredible media coverage and hired personalities.

Other sports credential journalists. There's a bar to entry beyond owning a camera. There's specific rules about the content they put out, length of video clips, when they are released, etc. Most teams and leagues have their own media departments and put out their own content but also have plenty of credentialed media members there covering the games and putting out content. Think of a big play at the end of a game. During the broadcast it will be the broadcast showing their replays of it. After the fact there will be ton of different angles from wherever the media guys took their video from.

There's room for feld to button things up, they've given credentials to people who have literally zero media presence and are basically just fans on vacation, but they can't go too far with it before fans and sponsors are going to push back. You can't tell a sponsor pay us for the banner, pay us to get your name on TV, pay the rider to use your product, now also pay us for the photo of that rider so you can put an ad together. The teams and sponsors stand to lose as much as anyone with these changes and it'll be up to them to make sure feld doesn't go too far. They don't give a care at all what fans think.

If Feld wants to shoot themselves in the foot in the media game... let them do it.. I personally only see it ending badly for them.. all based on "greed" which is the bane of my existence with these fucking corporations.

Putting My "TinFoil hat on"

If they want to take over all the media stuff, that means they plan on trying to use A.I. to generate user content from the events for their marketing. Then try to sell that to the teams/riders for their media presence.  "TinFoil hat off"

The last part is most likely true...

And you don't have to be wearing a Tin Hat to believe it...

What about rider vlogs. For instance Kevin Moranz type vlog where they talk in the pits and someone films from the stands, those wont be allowed?

I think the end game will be a show.  Feld controls everything.  Pays teams to come and put on the show.  Monster trucks use to be an actual competition between private teams.  Now it is a show.

Years ago TFS predicted that no Photohounds would be on the track. Instead remote controlled cameras would be taking all the images - video, drones,  and still.

Like how Steve called it a money grab. When we were saying for years it was a money grab charging the racers to put on the show and that the payouts were terrible he defended them. Now that it affects him and his buddies they are the bad guys…also like how “legitimate” people should still be allowed access but those not puffing up the industry should be banned, nothing like trying to limit free speech 😂

I think at the end of the day, it gives Feld too much control over content. And when you can control the entire narrative, it does a disservice to the fans and the sport itself. Independent journalists/media are what keeps sports thriving for the fans.

What’s next, no cameras allowed at supercross events?  Aside from that, it seems like a cheap move to create a monopoly, so hopefully it does open up opportunities for journalists/media to highlight other series with more in depth coverage.

Maybe not having floor access will lead to better jounalism?  The threat of critical voices losing floor access becomes null if you don't have access to begin with.

Time for a massive corporate sponsor to come in and start another series. Boo Koo energy drink tried it with Arenacross years ago and took a few good riders. But it was nothing like that Saudi money to start a "new" PGA series( LIV or something like that?). That's what it would take to get the ball rolling.

Genuinely, other than maybe Lewis, there’s no journalists in this sport. This is a ridiculous comparison but I’m a pretty big football fan and the amount of football coverage that’s not worried about stepping on anybody’s toes or worried about wording things correctly so they don’t rub somebody the wrong way, while also not being entirely shock value ala cooksey and remaining reputable is staggering. Again, apples to perzimmon comparison but it makes me thankful we at least have Lewis

Wow. I did not even know x-games still existed. lol

The Charter system will allow Feld to engage in controlled revenue sharing.  Only Feld and the Charter owners will have any voice at the table—and Feld owns the table. Non-charter teams can attempt to qualify, but charter teams will have guaranteed spots (heats will determine only starting position). Factories can sponsor/supply teams or support certain racers without the cost of running a factory team. It’s coming….Husky is the first shoe to drop. I hope I’m wrong.

And where are they now?  there is no legitimate arena cross series anymore, Mike Kidd ran the only successful series then sold it, and it was run into the ground and then we had another arena cross series popped up so there were two and neither one had any success. And in golf look at LIV now, going under fast so maybe it takes more than money to run any successful series you need a promotor that knows how do and for all the FELD haters they know how to run it.

This has been the end-game for a long time, and a few OGs saw it way back. They'll own the teams.

What I didn't see coming is Davey selling outdoors to those exact people so they own it all now.  It isn't tinfoil if it happened.

I don't really know what to say at this point other than from my standpoint...this is really, really sad.

A bunch of us found out a while ago what was in the works, and as it has unfolded, it's created quite the mess in our little media world and the pits as a whole. Today I had tons of riders, brand reps, OEM racing heads, and more come to me and tell me how absolutely against these changes they are.

In the media den, I'd say 90% of the people I work alongside will not have jobs next year inside this part of the sport or maybe the industry as a whole.

I personally do not know if we will cover Supercross next year due to how potentially restrictive these changes will be. I can almost guarantee you that tomorrow night will be the last ever night I stand on the floor and shoot an AMA Supercross race.

I've been told over and over the past few weeks by poeple at Feld how the Supercross needs to move more towards the media access model that is used in other large motorsports. Well, at this point, it'll probably be easier for me to get access at an F1 or Nascar race in 2027 than it will be an Supercross. Make that make sense. Gypsy (Jace) said he turned in his hard card a few rounds back because he was so over how he and others in the media are treated at the races.

I do not disagree with some of Feld's points on the changes needed in media, they've made it where you can basically show up at the races with a phone, get floor access, and be "media" but that's their fault for opening the flood gates. Now, it seems they want to go to the absolute opposite end of the spectrum. I just really hope they come to their senses and we land somewhere in the middle.

Can we just have a PE firm purchase the series from these jokers and have it run properly? And eliminate the AMA jurisdiction while we're at it.
