He started slow and had a bit of a slump there and allowed chase to catch up and take it to Pala. You're not wrong that was probably his best year but he had some off weeks where he wasnt just murdering chase as well.

But didn’t he start slow because of his injured knee from ATL? Which of course was covered up and he said “nothing was wrong” up until he started consistently winning outdoors in 2022.

He tore his PCL at the end of SX. That was when Anderson went on a run to end the year and Eli started outdoors a little slow. He also denied being hurt then, too

Did he actually deny being hurt back then? I don't remember that. I thought he admitted he tweaked his knee when asked.

Based on the interviews last Friday, where he categorically denied being injured multiple times, he would be a huge liar if he were injured right now. I don't see him being a liar like that. It is something else.

Eli's is fine physically.  His issue is 100% mental.  I was told by someone who knows what the issue is and if I told you guys, every single one of you would think, "Ah, that makes sense but is a bummer."

Maybe it's something completely different. Perhaps a family member who is ill, or maybe his brother the pilot is somehow involved in the war and he's worried or upset. He IS human, after all. Who knows, sometimes things like that can really take the wind out of your sails. Just a thought.

Randy Couture was like 45 when he won a UFC championship. Tom Brady was 43 when he won his last Super Bowl. Bernard Hopkins was 49 when he won a championship in boxing. Johan Clarey was 41 when he won an Olympic gold medal in skiing. Cadel Evans was in his mid 30s when he won the Tour De France.

Stop with the age nonsense. 33 is not THAT old. He looked fantastic earlier in the season. Something is clearly wrong, he didn’t go from being awesome to being a 6th place rider in the span of a couple weeks.

Different sports (and different positions in those sports) have different aging curves.

Yeah, Tom Brady played well into his 40's, but very few others do.   Jerry Rice is the ONLY player to ever catch more than 2 passes in a season after turning 40.

I do know, but I'm not going to betray the trust of my source or invade Eli's privacy. If he wants to talk about it, he can, but obviously he doesn't.  I doubt any man would.  One thing I can tell you is that it is not a physical injury or ailment.

There’s nothing to even debunk. It’s not even a credible theory. A dude DM’d Steve saying there was no photos of him on her IG. And a minute later said he didn’t let the page load enough.

that's how responsible adults conduct themselves in a situation like this. Some of these youngsters could learn from the example. 👍

Why is everyone so convinced that he’s hurt, as opposed to just playing his cards right?

He is still technically in the points lead you know?

I see no indication that he is laboring some sort of debilitating injury. He walks fine. He talks fine. He rides fine. He’s just not showing his super aggressive self, which I quite frankly think is more strategic than anything.

No one in the history of Supercross is taking 6th place as a "strategic" finish.

It's all he's got with whatever is going on with him.

Ha!  Strategically giving away 6-8 points per week.  He’s got them where he wants them.

Riders cover up injuries and illnesses in the sport, I get it..

RC started it because he said Chad was such a mental competitor that he couldn’t give him any edge coming to the gate.. makes sense to me.

Eli is a few weeks in to riding around in 6th place but stays with the “I’m fine, just a little off” narrative.

What does he have to gain from this, I understand not wanting to give the competition edge, but at this point, they are probably not even worrying about Eli as soon as they see him in the heat or qualifying.

Does denying there is an issue give an advantage over explaining what it is?
Like if Eli says, my bike was a little off but we will get it dialled, the competition would expect the old Eli back next week.

Or I’m a little banged up, but it’s not serious, so I’ll be good to go next week.. does this really give Hunter an edge?

I’m a Tomac Superfan, but this is frustrating because clearly something is up, and it would be great to know what it is, and I really see no advantage for keeping it secret.
