If only I could be such a head case! Guy is one of the top 5 greatest on two wheels.

Yes, def a different Tomac. KTM as an organization likes to play the long game. Tomac has always been balls out. I think back to the Tomac vs Dungey years.

Is he playing long game, are there troubles within the team? Tomac strikes me as one that may not give you an answer you want but not a BSer. So tend to believe he is not hurt.

I like the balls out Tomac, but prefer to see him finish SX and MX seasons and without injury.

He better not bring this speed to the outdoors as it could be a stain on his outdoor legacy!! If he’s getting beat by 15 to 30 seconds right now outdoors could get ugly!!

If he wasn’t a BSer, wouldn’t he be upfront about what is wrong?

It’s funny to me that these guys can run a set up and love it for several rounds on so many different types of dirt and suddenly say the set up is off and deny an injury.  At this point, it’s almost a more chess-like move to say that you are hurt even if you aren’t so that Hunter thinks there’s a reason beyond comfort keeping him so underwhelming

He got to 3rd in that one if I remember right. Would make sense.

I’m sure we will find out in 2 months what the deal is though.

I watched that start again at Birmingham and he definitely hit that tuff block hard with his foot. No way we can tell if it hurt him, though. I do know when I hit my 'bad knee' or 'bad foot', it does hurt and gets in your head some. It can slow you down for a while. Looks like a possibility for sure.

Kenny could not beat Eli before this moment, as far as I remember. And now, all of a sudden, Eli can't keep up with him. And I don't think Tomac had been this far off in qualifying all year, as he did in Detroit.

Surely if he had a lower body injury someone would have spotted him limping in the pits?

Like mentioned on a podcast, they tend to be tight lipped to not give the competition a reason to have extra motivation that the injured rider will fade. But at the same time if week after week you have less than typical results you are going to give the competition the same motivation.

some of you younger fellas are far too impatient here. It seems extremely likely Tomac is nursing an injury and "managing" his rides while healing up. He's LEADING the series for chrissakes! He's still 4 points ahead of Hunta who is also riding hurt. Eli obviously can't go Beast mode every single race if he wants to stay in this and hope it heals enough to turn it up again to close out the season. You can bet the team and Drs have a plan to get him to the end with his best chance of winning. Writing him off now makes no sense. Even if Kenny or Webb makes a run at the top it all comes down to point total at the end. Ever hear the story of the tortoise and the hare?

This just reminds me of when RV did NOT have a knee injury and is racing the nationals…

Him not admitting that he’s hurt is a crock of shit.  And I’m a huge Tomac fan.  He’s either hurt or sick, or Father Time has robbed him of all talent while he was sleeping.

I know these guys never like to admit they're hurt due to not wanting to give the competition a mental edge. But I feel like him getting his ass kicked while be "fine" is way worse than him getting his ass kicked while battling a broken whatever. If he just fesses up, he can be like "ya, I got 6th, but once my X heals up, its on."

I realize there are many "chidren" visiting this site. I could say "the earth it is a rounda!", and I would get 20 thumbs down.

Let me school you on something... Real men tend not to broadcast their bitness - BSer's lie about their bitness. There it is.

It was reported that the Bajaj folks were not big believers in racing in general. What if they are slow-paying the racers?

I know that’s not exactly plausible, but not much about Tomac’s recent struggles is very plausible either!

Painful to watch this one as a Tomac fan - not kicking ass as usual. Hopefully it comes together soon. Surprised by the lack of respect for the guy. How soon everyone forgets the guy who not only has won as much as he has, but how he has done it. And what about finishing a race with a broken leg, practically ripping both his arms out the sockets, doesn't talk shat, just gets it done. And finally he's got a share of the red plate.

Everyone on this board knows there is something wrong with the guy! 4/5 races ago he was attacking everyone …going for passes right away with hesitation! Now he can barely go though the turns! We need Eli back he literally can win the championship on a KTM !

Was Matthes right at the start of the season? No one over 30 has ever won an SX title. Is the intensity just wearing on Eli?

Do you know what BS is man!? Its making excuses and being dishonest. He's a professional with contracts and commitments, part of a team. Don't get your thong in a wad because he doesn't tell you all of his biz.🙄

It’s got me scratching my head for sure. Just looks totally over it. No charge no aggression. Makes me wonder if he’s having trouble getting the bike setup on the softer east coas dirt? I know Daytona is soft & rutty but that’s his house so exclude that track. Indy he looked on fire in qualifying but so so in the night show towards the later part of the races. Hopefully he turns it around in Nashville where it’s been typically a little bit harder pack dirt

Whatever is bothering him—bike or body—he's not shown any signs of improvement the last 3 weekends. ~40 seconds behind the leader says it all.

Is there a plausible explanation out there?

He does not look comfortable on the bike, at all. Timing on jumps is really off. His body position looks off. I can’t tell if it’s the bike or his body.  Earlier he looked so comfortable on the bike. I have to think his back or shoulder is tweaked? It’s the only explanation that fits for me.

Dude no way it’s setup because he was an animal at Seattle. Copy paste conditions from there. No way it’s the bike.
