Hopefully he goes on one of the podcasts and tells all.

This. My dad was the director of flattrack for the AMA twice (once in the 70's and once in the 90's). And he told me both times it was because they brought him in to do "x" and then when he gave his ideas/suggestions they didn't want to make those changes.  So sounds like things are still the same 50 years later. I think both times lasted about a year each haha.

Good for Ezra. I’m sure he gave it his all, but was up against the impossible. Seemed like he wanted what was best for the sport.

Yeah and if we can get the AMA to operate like robots it would be an vast improvement.

Cheese and rice. Hire me and I will abide by the rule book without a single fuck given when the riders come complaining.

That would disqualify you. Following the rules when it doesn't make sense, is a disqualifier according to vital and half of the fans.

I’d love to see Chad Reed in a position like this. He’s obviously well educated in this and is a no bullshit won’t back down kind of guy. I feel like he would tell Pelletier to pound sand

John Starling is a great example of what every AMA Pro Racing official should aspire to be.  He is respected by the riders and holds a line that doesn't get crossed.  He shows personality and understanding while still being an authorative figure.  Unfortunately these are things that I believe you either have or you don't have, they can't be learned.  People in authority positions that don't have those qualities have to fake it and overcompensate.  True colors always end up showing and Pelletier's colors are showing now.  It's going to be nearly impossible for him to earn the respect back from the teams and racers.

You mean the guy that struggles to understand the difference between a motocross track boundary and a supercross split lane divider? On second thought, yes he'd fit right in.

After 25 years you automatically become an AMA Charter Life Member.  When I passed that several years ago my dues automatically became ZERO and I have not been charged a fee since then.  There are options to continue paying an annual fee for certain "perks" like the monthly magazine, roadside assistance, etc; maybe your Dad signed up for one of those options.

I want to know who actually owns the AMA and why it was sold.

Yep, don't get me started on how they killed the flatrack series back when Harley cried and had the rules changed because Honda and Bubba Shobert decided to go flatrack racing and kicked ass. No wonder Honda said screw you AMA and walked and now flatrack is all but dead.

This. I joined in 1985 and after 25 years in 2010 they sent me some life member stickers, pin, card, certificate  etc. and I haven't paid anything since because I didn't want the AMA magazine which I would've had to pay for.

I thought it was because he was a hairy little baby, and they started calling him Yogi Bear, then it just stuck.  I could be wrong.

Yes this is 100% correct.  If you watch the old Honda commercials from supercross races on YT Lusk explains this pretty much verbatim

First it was hairy like a bear, then it was Yogi bear. Now it’s just Yogi.

Problem is when you lapse as I did from kids and divorce you start over and it must be consecutive membership. All my riding buddies have been life members for years and I thought I should be as well. At 66 I should have been (IMO) a life member long ago.

Yeah, It said that when you sign up that it has to be consecutive or you could pay the higher amount and just pay for the life membership.
