Obama faced a completely different position vs Iran than Trump does now for many many reasons...

The Israelis have basically wiped out Hamas on their own border. They decapitated and routed Hezbollah, finishing off a Syria that was weakened hugely by civil war and ISIS. Then you have the massive advances in anti-ballistic missile capability that's proving to be effective against almost all of Iran's conventional capability, a lot of which has been honed in Ukraine against Russian-made systems (guess where Iran got their kit from). Not to mention the drones you were just eulogising also being advanced so much in the last couple years from lessons being learned in Ukraine... 

None of that was there in 2013. Israel was under threat from all sides, Iran had powerful allies around it and far more support domestically and drones were still in development. All-out confrontation would have dragged the whole region in with it, with Syria at that time backed massively by Russian air and ground forces all supported by Hezbollah troops and command. The conditions back then simply weren't anything like as favourable as they are now to go and hit anyone like this (not to mention, the Donald himself was posting constantly on twitter back then how Obama wanted to start WW3 to distract from issues at home so he didn't want anything done then either). Not to mention, the intelligence network the Israelis have developed to know exactly where all these bad dudes were likely wasn't in place back then.

That's when Kudos can be issued and celebrations can happen, until then this has the potential to get real ugly, real fast for a lot of folks in the region. 

That doesn't mean I don't support the outcomes by the way, just that celebrating early doesn't always work... Hard to "lighten up" while I've spent the night talking to a mate who's in an underground bunker with his wife and four-year old daughter who keeps asking what the booms are and if it's fireworks.
