Yamaha just did a press day for this at Rowher Flats and I saw a video about it. I looked into it and wow it's 304 pounds, has a six speed transmission, variable valve timing, and water cooled.
But look at this photo... holy shit no thanks. Why so many hoses and covers?

Poll
Did they weigh it with a rider on it?
Wow, that thing's almost 30 pounds heavier than the TW200. Seems like you'd need an engine bigger than a 125 just to haul that much weight around.
The hoses everywhere are more than likely emissions related. Looks like they're packed with cheap components and solid steel everything else like the smaller TTR lineup. These will more than likely be manufactured in Brazil just like the TTR's.
This isn't moto...
And geezusss you are an ds/adv noobie to ask simple questions like that...
The Shop
Free shipping: VITALMX
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
It's got like a whopping 18 hp... it may have a faster quarter mile time than it's zero to 60... 🤣
Looks gay
They came out where I lived in Asia (hard to get bikes) and people were so stoked on them, the shop couldn’t get enough to stay on the floor. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I know a few very proud owners.
It's a playbike for a market completely diff than U.S.
So many haters! It's a bike for young people, those on a budget... works perfectly. Governments are forcing insane emissions controls, to be able to sell it in all markets, it comes down the line with everything fitted. Get used to it. While the public won't stand up and fight, it's only going to get more controlled. Certainly not bikes creating big emissions!
Honda 150 or Kawasaki 230 dual sports are a far better deal
It used to be a bit less messy in Europe... and it already weighted about as much as an Abrams tank.
Fun fact Minarelli makes these motors, and Beta made a 125 dual sport for a couple years that used the same motor its was like 250lbs and $5000 new but that was 7 years ago they didn't do very well in the USA either but like mentioned these are more of a global segment bike.
Waiting on Carson Brown to provide a shakedown test. Have you seen what he does with a TW200 and TTR?
Speaking of Beta play bikes. I wish we got the original version of the Alp with the DR200 engine in the US.
I wonder how much weight you can shave by deleting all of the emissions BS.
It's A1 compliant in the UK and Europe, has longer travel suspension than it's competitors and fuel injection. Limited function in the US though.
one is on my showroom floor I thought it was neat little bike even tho its not made in Japan. meant to battle the xr150l (carb bike super cold blooded and choked up). The WR is a good counterpart i think they will do well for the old guy with a camper and around the neighborhood
How in the f***?
The WR250R and the WR450F both weigh less. Is that actually accurate?
My wife has an 06' ttr 125 big wheel with E start (heavy battery and starter) and I can bloody bunny hop the thing on flat ground. I have never weighed it but it has got to be in the 175 lb range definitely sub 200lbs. how do they add another 100-150lbs on to that? what weighs so much?
Pit Row
You have to realize that although these are sold here, they are not specifically designed for the U.S. market. These are designed for the Asia/India/European markets where motorcycles sold outnumber the U.S. motorcycles sold by probably over 100 to 1. They will sell what they can here, but this is not their bread and butter market for this product.
RIP rear turn signals
He just put out a banger on a DRZ400 with a seat bag and blinkers...
What is this linkage setup called? I'm not sure I've seen this one before.
And here I thought Suzuki's recent "upgrade" of the DRZ400 was done poorly...Yam saw that and said "hold my beer".
DRZ400 : 5 speeds
WR125R : 6 speeds
Definitely would get you down to an even 300
It's almost as though the DRZ400 and WR125R are aimed at completely different rider segments
No doubt they are very different...I'm just bringing up the new DRZ400 model due to it lacking in so many ways and being much pricier than the old model.
If you own a new DRZ, I apologize.
Typical bike in this segment, look at all the cheap stamped steel components just in that one pic. Definitely looks like 300 lbs, unfortunately.
