Crazy, my ski boots were 700$

Jacket was 100

Pants 75

Goggles 100

You don’t have to buy arc’teryx ya know haha. like moto, if you don’t just have to be in the newest gear available you can get some really good deals on last years model stuff and save a lot of money. You still gotta buy a bike too… so for me at least skiing is pretty cheap compared to moto

I digress.

Lots of good helmets that aren't 500 and still MIPS and they last two race seasons generally.

Neck brace isn't a must have

Knee braces aren't a must have

Plenty of great goggles for 50 bucks

I've bought new 450s off the floor for years and have never spent 10k because I am smart and wait for deals/shop around

Is moto cheap? Not in anyway or capacity. There are cheaper ways to do all sports but if you insist on having top of the line in cost in any sport you'll spend a lot.

I'm sure the factory throws them a bone here and there. I think some might even get to lease factory ECUs.

You aren’t saying club is buying bikes right?

I know nothing of Clubs individual circumstances. I do know some teams do purchase the bikes.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours are you guys putting on your bikes a year??

I feel like some people are only counting the cost of the “weekend race.” Are you guys showing up with no practice or what? Gotta add in the costs of bike maintenance & practice. Hell that’s a whole 2nd bike. Need honestly 3 good bikes to get through a season if you’re highly competitive.

I grew up playing highly competitive hockey but my parents were supporting that so not really sure how it compares. We did travel a ton. Every weekend & sometimes for weeks a time. I would venture to say the biggest expense was hotels, Which my teams would get on deals by purchasing all our rooms at once. We also practiced a ton.

Just saw the Haas video from yesterday on the RacerX site. I think that the way he presented the situation along with the acknowledgement of Muc-Off’s support being instrumental in their success says a lot. If I were in a position to sponsor a team in any way, that’s the type of high character that I’d want to be associated with. I hope that they get some top tier funding as soon as possible and hopefully Muc-Off’s situation changes and they can come back in some level of support as well.

Timing is definitely rough, but I don’t think that there’s ever a great time to lose a title sponsor like this.

Gratitude and some grace in the face of disappointment like this is definitely one of the hallmarks of Club MX and Brandon Haas from what I've seen.  This is the kind of group I'd want to be associated with as a sponsor.....

It’s to bad, but with the current industry situation most of these kinds of sponsors are going to be pulling back support. Some MTB bike teams are just telling team guys they won’t get paid.  I hope things turn around for the better soon.

We completely oppose any and all forms of racial stereotyping, and we have taken direct action with the teams involved. Due to where the post originated, we have decided to cancel our sponsorship contract with Commencal 21. In addition, we have agreed with the Commencal/Muc-Off team that Amaury will undertake an education programme on the subject, which we have insisted is paid for using our sponsorship money.

After reading that press release: I’ve bought my last Muck-Off product.

It’s crazy how much club has grown since I’ve been there. And to be honest I’ve never heard any bad words about the facility nor the people who are running it. That’s a hard task in itself now a days with keyboard warriors. Hats off to them and let’s hope this set back lines them up with something bigger.

I hope some tool companies get more involved as title sponsors. I liked seeing the Milwaukee banners in Paris ( or maybe it was Vancouver idk).  Club mx could rename themselves  Ryobi Yamaha.

Pros race without neck/knee braces or chest protectors. You can buy a decent used MX bike for $7k.....

Why?  They supported the team and number of riders for years.  They pulled back due to the financial climate, not because they don't support moto.

I’d always try and support those that sponsor/support our sport.
Have bought lots of Muc-Off products.

I refuse to support organisations that push over the top “woke” agendas.
Just me and my opinion. If a sponsored rider makes a joke that the sponsor doesn’t like: first “have a word in their ear”. If required take further action in private

Looks like Muc-Off pulled the sponsorship and insisted on “re-education” of an athlete. And then put out a press release about it. “Virtue Signalling” ?

Do I have that correct?

From the Cycling Industry News       7/30/25

How’s business so far in 2025, compared with 2024?

It’s been a really good start. We had 31% growth in 2024 vs. the previous year, and demand is on a similar trajectory as we speak. The challenges are still in the market, but we’ve been relentless with investment across our sponsorships, continuous innovation and increasing support to all our retailer partners. This has really underpinned the success for both our retailers and Muc-Off.

Guessing Revenue is not an issue

Sounds like they were looking for a way out.
Muc-Off to sponsor Feld owned SMX in 3, 2, 1……..

Reedy knows a thing or two about sponsor poaching by Feld….

Motul was building their presence in moto again for a few years, but then they got a new GM who isn’t into Dirtbikes but very into the V-twin market and their home market of auto. 😭

This is from 2021 and has nothing to do with ClubMX. Club was dropped because of tariffs, it’s been stated by multiple members of the team.

This is the story from 2021 that people are upset about in this thread by the way.

Muc-Off has withdrawn its sponsorship of the Commencal 21 team and will fund an education program for Amaury Pierron following recent social media posts.

Last week, Commencal 21 Team Manager Charlie Juliá shared a photo of Amaury Pierron with cornrows and the words "Next level n----tion" in his Instagram Stories, which Pierron subsequently shared in his own Instagram Stories with the caption "Rap carrer in the making” set to Bobnlarry's 'N---- N---- N----' song. The pair later both apologised for posting the Stories with statements on social media that can be read, here.

Muc-Off reached out to inform us it will no longer be an equipment sponsor for the Commencal 21 team and while it will remain the title sponsor for Pierron's Commencal/Muc-Off team, it has agreed that Pierron will undertake an education course paid for through its sponsorship money.

I think your answer is in the first three words.

Edit per ML below: Cookesy was right for once.🤢

Hate him all you want but Cookesy is right about 95% on moto rumors. Please understand “rumors.” I’m not speaking on his opinions.

After reading that press release: I’ve bought my last Muck-Off product.

Why?  They supported the team and number of riders for years.  They pulled back due to the financial climate, not because they don't support moto.

I don't see any posts on IG or on the press release portion....send a link?  None of the interviews or reporting I have seen mentioned anything about that.
