IF. IF it’s true… Sexton is severely twisting the knife in KTM’s ass!
Everyon can clearly see that’s KYB equipment he chose to use for private practice..

Ruh Roh or not. That’s not a bad deal.
If this is true, what was -really- the race hardware and who paid for it?
Could ML bottom it out?
i saw that last night… why wouldn’t it be true, and why is it a “big twist of the knife” not everything is a big a conspiracy and it is well known that he was searching for something on the KTM and we all know he was running KYB stuff on his race bike.
I think that is a dick move. Yeah everyone knew they put KYB inserts in etc. But at least have some completely unknown person sell those kits for you, or give them away to someone (i doubt they really, really need that couple of thousands of dollars).
This industry is too small to burn bridges this early in a hopefully long career, and i doubt anyone who is important at KTM is stoked to see that sales ad.

Not a big deal
I agree with you.... but if Chase had to buy the suspension to test then I can see being open about selling it. Certainly shows his commitment to doing what was necessary for him to be successful on the KTM as opposed to standing back and poking at the OEM (ala Prado).
If it was an unknown person selling them they ain’t fetching that price.
You are over thinking it. I doubt KTM gives a shit. They should be worried about keeping the Tomac’s shock from fading, not cruising FB Marketplace
This was reported on at the time and brought up on Pulp MX numerous times...
And maybe Chase knew he was making a statement by selling the way he did.
I'd guess that's probably pretty much A-kit stuff. Not a bad price...if you're fast enough to need it.🙃
It would be so funny if Eli Tomac bought them from Chase.
"Practice forks and shocks" cool if you wanna practice crashing I guess 😄 what a deal lol
So we know he ran kyb forks in races. Does this mean he was also running kyb shocks in races?
no, the shocks were WP
I thought the same exact thing. Not sure what big conspiracy there is here? Unless OP is just pointing out that he had KYB shock components on his practice bike? Everybody under the sun knows he was on KYB inserts for the forks but idk about the shock I guess?
Does add a layer to the whole shock controversy. Would be crazy if he was practicing on a completely different shock altogether than he was racing on lol.
Just gotta get one of these with WP dress:
Cool deal for someone building a Sexton replica, but the timing is definitely a little off? Hard to tell if there’s a message being sent or not. If it’s just about scraping up a little coin, it’s awkward and could have been handled more discreetly. No way they need the money, though…
Clearly a nonissue. If it bothered KTM, they'd have just bought them to minimize exposure. They give a rat's ass.
Pit Row
You guys really like to try to make a mountain from a mole hill. This is the biggest nothing burger in recent memory.
Who gives a fuck? Everyone in the industry knows he was running KYB.
He might have even offered KTM to reimburse him for it and not sell it, and they said "nah we don't care".
We just don't know.
Will they authorize Tomac to also use the KYB kit?
That is a picture from pretty early in sx. Do you have any from smx or mx?
This has to be a dig, I cannot image having his kind of money and even taking the time to even bother with them, toss them in a box and put in an attic and forget about them. I sure would think he would have better things todo.
You know how rich people get rich? Hint, it’s not by throwing thousand dollar bills in the garbage…
We all knew he was using KYB fork inserts, but the team didn’t advertise it- they still ran WP stickers on the forks.
This displays that by choice, away from the camera lens Chase chose KYB over WP.
If that doesn’t say to fans that “KYB is better than WP in Chase’s opinion, then nothing will.”
The twist of the knife is because it’s public. They’re publicly stating this was his suspension of choice. They didn’t need to do that. They didn’t need to say it was Chase’s suspension. In fact they could’ve advertised it anonymously/get someone else to sell it.
If you don’t understand why that’s a kick in the balls to KTM, I don’t know what to tell you.
I’m pretty damn sure he has a friend who rides an Austrian bike who take them off his hands. A few private phone calls would get these sold easily. The public advertising isn’t necessary. How many times before have we seen factory riders selling practice bike stuff?
I think KTM has more important issues to address than these suspension parts. i.e. Bajaj and their upcoming spending cuts.
If it’s no big deal that he was running KYB forks and everyone knew, why didn’t the race team put KYB stickers on the fork tubes?
The rush to have a take often leads to overthinking things.
