I'm curious to know the differences between what he rode last weekend and when he raced at Saitama last year? I'm no gear head, but the bikes didn't seem too different visually.

Being a fan of the sport and knowing what you are talking about are obviously two different things when It comes to your comments and trolls on any topic. Just saying. Heh
If Deegan is going to beat anyone, he has to stay healthy and be able show up to the race first.
So what is it that you know better than I about the sport? Is it that you think you know better about how difficult the transition between 250 and 450 can be? Is it that you know for sure that Jo’s good results on a 450 won’t translate into Deegan having good 450 results too? If you do know for sure, better than my clueless prediction, then surely you’ll be willing to place a bet right? Or will you be just like everyone else here who claimed it won’t translate, and then disappeared when called to the table?
I’ll be happy to eat crow in my prediction, and I’m also willing to wager. If you know so much about the sport and you are so sure I’m so clueless, then put your money where your mouth is. $500 minimum bet will do it.

The keyboard bravado about "want to bet" is also a example of you not understanding the sport. I'm sorry if I'm offending you but it's obvious you don't realize that injuries, bad mojo and all sort of things that derail a rider's season and or career. There's nothing certain. NOTHING. Shimoda won A1 then got his fingers broken the following week. Deegan broke his collar bone a few weeks ago. Point is nothing in SX/MX is guaranteed. Ask Ken Roczen, David Bailey or James Stewart.
Move on and stop the trolling. This is a great thread with great pictures of Shimoda. Leave it at that.

Perhaps your reading comprehension is getting in your way. When did I ever say things were certain or guaranteed? Got back and read again, I said “should” not “will”…hence my willingness to wager on it.
By the way nothing to take away from Shimoda. He’s smooth as butter and a class act, and that was a great ride. But that doesn’t mean one can’t compare him to an other rider who has your panties in a wad.
You need to read again too. I said it should translate, not that 100% it will. If you are so confident my take is ridiculous, you would take the easy bet. But no, looks like some of you are scared to eat your words and lose some money.
Are they really going to have three 450 riders at the same time? When was the last time Honda did that? When was the last time any "factory" team besides Star Yamaha had three 450 riders?

It's a shame that Japanese MX seems to be at an all-time low outside of Shimoda. Had he come along a decade ago, he could have made Team Japan a dark horse for the podium. It was cool seeing all the Japanese fans there, though. That's a long trip. It was for the Australian fans as well, but at least they were the favorites.
I made a simple observation after seeing Shimoda's good result on a 450 and I forgot I'm inside a world full of Deegan haters. I was not trying to bash Shimoda in any way, I was just making an observation since he and Deegan are both great riders in their class. So naturally here at Vital, instead of just considering the observation at face value, all the hate flowed out of the grown men here who can't fathom there's actually pro dirt bike racers out there who don't align with their character values.

They’re just mad because you are spot on. Deegs is on an entirely different level than Jo. Thus, if Jo looks really good in the 450/MX1 class, anyone with a functioning brain can reasonably assume that Deegs will look that much better. Jo really wasn’t that far off of Hunter’s pace. Sad day for the Deegan hateful.
First of all I think Deegan will be a better 450 rider than Jo. But the basis of your observation was flawed as they dont have similar riding styles. Thats all anyone pointed out. They didnt say Deegan will never beat Jo. Then you started challenging others to bet $500 because they didn't agree with the way you drew your conclusion.
Yeah cause they have really similar riding styles…notice JCoop was able to go fast on that Star 250 without bouncing off the rev limiter? Yeah many times that style doesn’t easily transfer to a 450…
