Why navy blue for the Lawrence bros.?

I am asking the collective (vital mx) why no green and yellow for the Lawrence brothers? Webster had the Aussie green and yellow but for whatever reason the Bros were in navy blue and gold.

The yellow and green are a bit garish but you can really see it on the track. It stands out like a technicolor yawn!

In the olden days the USA international colors were white and blue (F1 and LeMans) UK green, France blue etc.

I'd imagine one flavor of sugar water would want them in navy blue, as opposed to the other sugar water that supports folks from countries which have navy blue sporting colors, but probably wants them in some amount of bright green.

Hey Scott, OK Aussie gold! I threw in the technicolor yawn for the Aussies though.

The back is the same blue as the flag, the front is more like duck green and gold, quite a clever and stylish reinterpretation of the classic aussie colors. Best looking gear the team ever had.

This would be the look that the gear is based off, the proper Australia Olympic jackets, Green and gold. Then of course the blue represents the flag.

A classy new take on Aussie colours, Websters green and yellow definitely popped on track though.

If you have a team they should be in national colors IMO not the marketing of the week. I would think all three riders should sport the same colors.

But this is just me, maybe USA should go in magenta and orange next year.

Other notable national colors include Argentina’s blue and yellow, Australia’s green and gold (adopted in 1958 to distinguish from British racing green), Brazil’s pale yellow, the Netherlands’ orange, and Mexico’s gold.234 These colors are often codified in FIA regulations and used on race cars to identify national representation in international competitions.4 Some countries, like Canada, have evolved their colors over time—originally using British racing green with white stripes, later adopting red with wide white stripes after the Canadian flag was updated in 1965.34 New Zealand uses a combination of green and silver, while Belgium’s yellow is derived from the national color of the House of Orange-Nassau.23 These standardized colors help maintain national identity in global motorsport events.

It’s not navy, it’s dark green with gold numbers.

New Zealand doesn’t use green on their sporting colours - they use predominantly black with white or silver highlights; or some variation of that.

eh? Green and Silver for NZ?

NZ is pretty much universally Black & White. Although if you grew up as a kid in the 80's then Biege & Brown is also acceptable 😉 (in which case Webster's kit is also fitting)

I actually thought the Lawrence kit was far more representative (in terms of the green used) of many major Aussie national sporting team uniforms 🤷‍♂️ (i.e. The Cricket teams famous baggy green, Kangaroo's league uniform, and even the green on the Wallabies Rugby strip)

Ah yes that horrible light brown the Kiwi cricket teams wore in the eighties.

Hi Ando, can you tell why Aussieville has so many top level athletes in motorsport? I mean they have Piastri leading the F1 world championship, the Lawrence brothers, Jack Miller (one of my favorites) Will Power in Indycar and then you can go back to many others. With a population of 28 million. this is quite remarkable, I am aware of the syndicates in NZ that promote drivers to Europe and America and you can see this with Scott Dixon, Marcus Armstrong and Scott McLaughlin. Do you Aussies have a similar program?

The brands are all over it with cool designs and stuff, but in the end they put zero dollars to the table to cover the extra costs because "it isn't a championship race".

Not to mention that Daniel Sanders just won the world bike rally championship and we recently won the Speedway of Nations!

I don’t think it’s just motorsports but sports in general.  Most kids play or get involved in sports from school age and we have a generally competitive nature.  Lots of adults continue to stay involved in sport through their life, even if just at a social level.

We generally outperform on a per capita basis at the Olympics, we have world class teams in rugby and cricket, and periodically produce great golfers and tennis players.

I thought the gear looked really good in person.
My brother (also a Kiwi) even said he might buy a set of it.
In terms of marketing, can you get any better than that if a Kiwi is buying the Aussie kit???
Well played Alpinestars.

Their kit was lit, and Alpinestars is killing it. Except for that commercial that played a thousand times…

I would have thought there'd be some communication between MA / Fly and Alpine Stars about a bit of continuity with the gear they'd all use - that's what I found strange.

A National Team, should look like a National Team, I think.

Kyle's colours, certainly made it easier to trace his movement from near last / second last after each 1st corner, a bit easier 😁.

I do remember when, quite a few decades ago, 'they' tried to change Aus Sporting Team colours from the Green and Gold ( well, Bright Yellow) to Blue and Gold - around the time of one of the Olympics.  There was a bit of an uproar about it at the time, and, it was, largely, stopped in its tracks.

PS - those flamin' Brazilians / Brasilians can have this Old Bastard bear confused at times, with their countries colours!

I thought the kit was the best its ever been, dark green/blue and gold is more Australian colouring than the light green and yellow we usually run at MXON. Hopefully next year they can get Kyle in matching colours 👌
