On another note, did America have the oldest team? Not bad for a group of guys that used to be considered past their prime. It’s awesome the guys are racing longer these days on both sides of the pond.

I thought about that. Adamo and Bornacorsi are early 20’s. Eli almost 33, RJ almost 30 and Jcoop is 28. Cairoli had a good second moto, dude is impressive.

As an American, I am proud of our boys that actually had the balls/brains to be available and show up. We got 2nd place. Pretty badass with a backup team if you ask me. Tomac killed it. They should be proud.
Huge props to the Aussies for kicking everyone's asses once again. Respect to Webster for basically carrying the load of stress for that team. Had to be a difficult position to be in to be the one that could lose it all in the blink of an eye.

J-Coop got second in MX2….on a 250 he hasn’t ridden since? up until the last 2 weeks. AND he had the worst of the 2 gate picks both motos….on a 250. That is pretty kick ass! …and DeWolf is fast as hell on a bike he has raced, and won an MX2 championship, for years. Great job Justin!!!

I love how much of this thread is people claiming that RJ is the reason Team USA lost, only for someone to show that mathematically speaking, there was never a chance they were going to beat Team Australia.
During the race I was frustrated with RJ, but I actually just admire how he doesn't quit. MXoN is a one day event, so you can't settle for a low position and come back swinging the following weekend. RJ knew how hard it would be to beat Team Australia and he didn't show up to settle for second. The dude rode his absolute heart out, left absolutely nothing on the table, and he should be commended for it.

I liked how none of the riders really had (at least not in a blatantly obvious way) had an 'off' performance in terms of speed/energy, where they're just sort of riding around mid pack, not really in it.
All the guys, however uncomfortable or struggling with this or that, showed up. And that's true for RJ too. The guy had great speed and tremendous effort.

Only idiot Ive seen lately is Deegan.
Lawrences aside, the standout rides for me were Webster - last to 15th TWICE, on a 250?! (and in back-to-back races too) - he is every bit a deserving MXdN winner. Also Pancar, a true privateer with a standout performance.
Honourable mentions to Jo, Everts, de Wolf, Coenens - and Febvre who battled hard in that last race to get France on the box. The big hitters Tomac, Gajser and Cairoli (with a broken hand) also showed why they are revered.
On this track, Sexton would have knifed the front a dozen times. Per lap.

I think it was JT on one of the PulpMX podcasts who said, "Jo is the best Japanese motocross rider ever", and that it will matter to Honda.
If you've ever watched one of the This Is Lawrence videos you know that the vibes are off the chart inside the Honda rig. The Lawrence boys seem to really be there for Wasabi Jo and I hope there's a ride for him if that's where he'd like to stay. His 450 debut left very little to complain about.
Webster is one of the best professionnal motocross racers right now that is not fully AMA/MXGP.

My concern watching RJ try to catch up for the third time in moto 2, was moto 3. He's fit but that's such a short break between races. He squeezed out all his adrenaline and must have been exhausted for the final race.
I expected the difference to be bigger on an american circuit between the ama riders and those from europe.....the mxgp riders did very well if you take their home advantage into account
Hunter was saying after the race that Jett was more pumped on Jo’s 2nd place than Hunter winning. They’re a great team, I could see HRC Japan coming up with the extra budget to keep Jo on red if needed.
I am sure if Honda sees some advantage in the Japanese market to having Shimoda stay on red that will free up money to keep him. It makes sense to me but I am not Japanese. I would think the risk of having him on a euro bike would be not ok for the Japanese brands.
