I was on the fence about Deegan since he first turned pro. Thinking someday he’d grow up and be more professional. This is a new low and just embarrassing for the sport. People say “you’d do it for $500k bro”. No, I wouldn’t. But I’m also 49 years old and already well established in my own version of success. So valid agreement but not relatable to most people here.
Now the 500k. Sure he could have taken that to the bank tomorrow. BUT just think of the long term IF he had won the race, left Jo alone to finish 2nd, and lost the title. If he would have rode up to Jo to shake his hand and lose with grace his stock around the industry could/would have gone up significantly. How much could he make with sponsors long term by just growing up and being a better person??? He has a huge youth fan base, you think they’d quit being a fan if Haiden would just be a better sport? Even my 16 y/o kid who is a Deegan fan thought that was “weak AF” (His words, not mine). Idk. Just wish the kid would grow up and stop being a douche so much.
I’m 21, just a few years older than haiden, and i lose a good amount of respect for hi, the little respect i have left is when he isn’t an absolute idiot or douche and when he puts on amazing rides. I am still a fan though, but Jo gained lots of fans and haiden probably lost fans.
I've been a fan of Deegan, but that racing was classless. There's no way to defend that type of riding. Jo was a straight beast, took every bit of it and came through on top. This is going to be a tough one for Deegan to recover. A couple months from now, this will all be forgotten and another topic will be in the spotlight, but I really hope he learns from this. I can tell you, Brian was pissed at Haiden. 450 crew won't take this type of shit and he'll be the next Friese if he keeps this up.

Haiden was going to do this all along and it should not have been a surprise to anybody including the AMA. In the same situation Tomac "bunched them up", but didn't take repeated takeout shots at Dungey.
I'm sure the AMA didn't want to decide the championship by penalties - it is racing for the championship. Osborne slamming Savatgy - one time - the last time - passing from behind - OK.
However, slowing up and repeated slams should have been contained with a black flag. I hope Pulp pulls Yogi or some other AMA official in to talk about why it wasn't.
