Lawrence’s- Class Act

Seeing Jett empathize with his brother and care so much on the podium is really telling.  That family is special and Honda HRC is in an incredible era right now.  I feel lucky to witness it.

Pretty stark contrast when compared to what happened earlier in the night too.

Someone should be taking notes.

Deegan has a LONG way to go if he thinks he’s ready to beat Jett. Good luck.

Disagree here.

While I have empathy for their situation and feelings, as a fan I'm disappointed by their behavior because it just kills the racing environment for everyone.

The reasons fans watch professional sports, is because we want to see competition. People with incredible talent trying their hardest to win -- that results in the best product for fans to watch. Racers also have a contractual obligation to try their best.

By visibly implying you weren't trying, defeats the integrity of the sport and race.

They had weeks -- years to figure out how to handle this situation. Save the emotions and family dynamics for closed room conversations -- don't bring it to the race track.

Imagine the NFL. It would kill the mood if the QB just visibly stopped trying to help his brother on the other team win their first championship.

Yes, my take is a bit selfish, but so are their actions. I was looking forward -- and thousands of other fans -- to a great final race. But instead, we got a snoozer because Jett felt bad for his brother.

You can tell that even after all the years of dominance Jett had, he's still looking up to his brother, probably broke him that Hunter didn't even look at him after the final moto, all he wants is them being good with eachother, that's awesome!

That’s raw emotion.  They are brothers and they are on the same team.  It’s not comparable to the NFL and seeing how they really feel and are processing it live is much better than them pretending IMO

Having a hard time understanding how their actions are selfish as you say.

Jett laying up for a few laps while deciding if he wants to take the championship away from his brother by cleanly passing another rider is the only argument you need against the Deegan fans here saying, “come on, I’d take out my grandma for $500k”

Jett is so good it’s literally insane. I think he was debating whether or not he should pass Eli all race long. With 2 laps left the racer in him let loose and uncorked his raw speed and made it happen. I feel for Hunter though. He’ll get a 450 championship or two before he hangs the boots up.

That's fair -- you're right it is an individual sport. I guess my point is, they knew this situation was going to happen -- heck it happened last year.

Obviously, you can plan it all you want, but the emotions are overwhelming in the moment.

But at the same time, you should have enough internal family conversations to come to the agreement that while it hurts, out of respect for each other, both brothers should always ride to their best abilities. (i.e. If I was hunter I wouldn't feel right if I was gifted a championship because Jett wanted me to win. I would also not appreciate the fact Jett says things like Hunter would have won if he wasn't sick -- it's simply just a white lie to make Hunter feel better)

Seems the Lawrence brothers were raised right. Both seem to care for each other deeply. Hunter can only look at it 1 way. He should been better tonight and beat Tomac the 1st moto. Jett dug deep both moto's and earned every penny he made.

That would probably be more entertaining, but I'd way rather watch something genuine happen than a scripted shtick put on just for "entertainment"

If I was in Hunter's position and my brother let me win... I'd fucking lose it. Probably punch him in the mouth back at the trailer.

It's gotta be the same deal for these guys. Family or not, no true racer wants to be gifted a victory.

Hunter has said it multiple times that he don’t want Jett to give him anything for free on the track.

If Hunter wins he want to beat Jett trying his best, but that also comes at a cost that he won’t beat him very often. But nobody else does neither.

Hunter knows how good Jett is and while the imaginary points system allowed him to get close in theory, the level of speed on the track is to great as displayed last week when Jett came from last to 4th, almost second place and while doing that he ate in 7 seconds on Hunters 17 second lead he had at one point.

Hunter said himself that he lost it in the first race.

lol no it’s not. After deegan got taken out by Levi, it ment that he had to try and slow Jo up in some way for him to win, because obviously deegan winning wasn’t enough. If all deegan had to do was just pass Jo, he would be the champion.

My friend and I noticed that. Flagger left him hanging so he gave himself a high-five. To come off a championship moto and still have the wherewithal to clown around and high-five yourself so it doesn't look like you got punked is absolutley classic Jett.
