What does Ricky make from his gig? 10k a show (weekend) with free flights, food, hotels, etc…? More or less? I always wondered what RC was making from doing these because I wouldn’t think he was doing it for the pay check. Who make more, RC or James? Back in 05 when James moved up to the big bikes I had heard a rumor that James was getting 1 mill a year from Fox, and RC was pissed because he was making a little less. James was wearing fox boots where RC was running Beriks, so that could’ve been it. Also remember hearing RC was getting 250k a year to run those Berik boots.

As someone who kind of pointed out RC wasn't that good (and got downvoted for it), there was actually a fair amount of support for RC until recently. It has waned a lot in the last 2 years. The whole supercross broadcast has been criticized though, not just RC. Even the likes of Weege acts differently in SX compared to MX. RC himself acts way way differently in SX vs podcasts and other interviews and things. RC seems like a fun enough dude, but must have an ego or something.

As a whole, with sports outside of SX / MX, the whole fan experience is often not accurately assessed. SX in particular has been guilty to pandering to new comers way too much - explaining the most simple concepts, trying to make it like football or something. I watch a lot of tennis and they never, ever (at least on the international commentary) talk as if the listener has never played before.

Also, RC is a real dude. I get that. But getting criticized is a perfectly okay thing. And promotes good discussion. Few comments actually attack his character, or his family, or his question his skills outside of commentating. We recognise he is the baddest dude to ever race a dirt bike. But he also sucks at speaking into a mic. RC sucks just like most of us probably "suck" at riding dirt bikes compared to RC at his peak.

I watch a lot of tennis and they never, ever (at least on the international commentary) talk as if the listener has never played before.

That is very true. Similarly formula 1 or MotoGP. They never go: „a slick tyre is a tyre with no grooves“ (maybe a bad example but you get the gist). It’s on the watcher to figure some stuff out yourself.

The last time I watched tennis, they were all:

"To your point, Jim, the ball is fuzzy, and you can really feel a lot more fuzz on a fuzzy ball than on a smooth ball. It's like, if you can imagine, it has more texture to it."

"Oh man, these guys are going for it! Just watch! He's gonna hit it back now... or... maybe just learn from where he is putting the ball."

"Jim, I like were he is at, down forty-love. If he can keep seeing the serve choices, he'll be in the cat-bird's seat..."

"I can't say enough, Jim. What these guys are doing is so tough in these conditions. It's like if you were in your yard, running around, hitting a ball-like object away from you, but it keeps coming back, and your arms get tired, and you have to keep going..."

"Just two more points and the match could be done, oh... looks like trophies and the King of England are coming out on the court..."

Probably watching the American broadcast - the international broadcast of anything is usually the best (ie. F1, tennis). The exception perhaps was for a while I preferred the BTSport broadcast of MotoGP, but the international was also pretty good.

I could argue sports I am not into have rubbish commentary, but even listening to golf or cricket is more interesting than at face value if you consider that all sports are interesting to someone. The average moto person can't comprehend anything outside of dirt bikes though. Supercross has the crazy ability with the commentary with making me less interested.

I'm no RC fanboy.....but...

This is why social media is a disease. Threads like this. RC is still a person. When a mob gangs up on a person and keeps kicking him over and over and over, its pretty sad.

Anyone that feels so good about jumping on another person negatively to the point of trying to pummel him.... says more about the poster than the target.

Hopefully you all look in the mirror and see perfection. He's in the public eye and more susceptible to criticism, but 21 pages of insulting a fellow man that ruled this sport.

Imo, RC has balls for doing something in front of a million people that maybe he's not natural at.

Do you think JS7 is sitting around ripping on RC. Hell no.

Time to reflect on your own lives and think twice

I'm sure this thread will get a major downvote count. Wgaf. More proof of how fucked up the internet. None of you would say this to RC personally.

Yes RC is a person but so is Daniel Blair too.

I lost all respect of RC for his antics towards DB.

Im surprised DB didn't “One Punch” RC.

When Jett was doing his late race charge in moto 2, did I hear James say "Git the fuck outta here" as Jett was making a pass?

I rewound it a couple of times, and it sure sounded like it to me, and laughed each time.

I would like to hear him bring back, "He's got a lot of wood to chop" in 2026.

I heard from an insider at Ironman that Ricky crushes beers before the show to try and calm his nerves. Makes a lot of sense.

I gotta revive this thread.

"He was really gracious there, but that's what you expect from Jason Anderson"

was one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. 😂

He absolutely flinches. Go back and watch the reply, specifically Prado's arms. I'm not a Ricky fan, but he was correct and even circled it for you lol
