SMX Gimmick

100% they been hyping up this shit all year and they been at the motor speedway since Thursday but can’t run two sets of moto on Sunday?. Makes zero sense this is a joke of a series but they say they are giving away millions. Fans paid so much money to camp and be there for the day but can’t even promise a second moto. 

I was pumped to watch the racing today and thought the track was an awesome layout.  But I dont know how you legitimize a race where you only get one moto because they chose an outdoor venue with no lights and a track that was considered too dangerous to race if rained.

There's $1.5m on the line and they just cancel half the event.  I understand there were weather circumstances but this just seems extremely amateur.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. That was one of the most difficult tracks we've seen the top athletes ride. A gimmick is Field running a series that doesn't benefit anyone but them selves. The riders racing actually have a chance for good money. Let's watch the racing and stop complaining. 

They leave paralyzed riders in their wake and leave it up to Cooksey to remind us they exist. 

Put a little thought into the tracks man. I agree the 3 races are a disappointment. 

Should  finish  on Sunday 

It wasn’t considered too dangerous to ride after the rain. The race has to be suspended if lightening is within a certain amount of miles. That’s not FELD, AMA or anyone having absolutely anything to do with racing making that decision. That’s the policy for literally every single stadium in the country (which is a requirement through their insurance companies). Literally any event taking place at that venue would have been suspended due to the lightening. 

I don’t like that there was only one moto per class either. But if you’re going to be upset, at least be upset with the correct people. You know damn well that if it was possible to have the remaining motos they would have. Sunday may not have been realistic. These venues are rented for certain dates and times. FELD can’t just decide on a whim that they’re going to reschedule the races for Sunday. They don’t own the venue and they don’t get to make just make those types of decisions. It’s almost like you renting out a venue for your wedding on Saturday then you catch a stomach bug and decide you’re going to have your wedding on Sunday. Now you expect the venue to allow you to use it as you please, all the caterers to adjust their schedules to fit yours, the photographer, the DJ, the bartenders, the cleaning crew, the attendees, so on and so forth to just be available to attend your wedding on Sunday because you decided to change it Saturday halfway through the evening. It’s not realistic and it’s absolutely absurd to even think that it is. 

I I just got caught up with everything & it wasent long 😂 but I not goona lie , I love this SMX idea but if the sport of supercross & motocross trying to take the stick & ball sports route of adding a postseason, u simply cannot cancel a race of “this magnitude” its supposed to be the “playoffs” wait it out further or wait till Sunday , calling it mid event or shorten the time limit in the motos should be only for the “regular season races “ 

 to add on , honestly for all of this just go back to 17 SX , 12 nats & give the ppl back the MEC cause u basically devalued the playoff series

The only reason the SMX exists is because the WSX was taking a bunch of the riders who would rather race SX than the nationals so Feld got together with MX sports to save the outdoors. As soon as the WSX is gone for good so will the SMX races. How the hell dont you know that?

NBA playoffs dont cancel the 2nd half, NFL Superbowl doesnt cancel the 2nd half, World Series doesnt stop at the 4th inning. Rain delay should be factored in for outdoor events "of this magnitude." It's not a playoff, it's just a 3 race mini series that was likely put together when WSX was being thrown around in the pits. If I sponsored a team I would be extremely disappointed if I didnt get the broadcast and advertisement time I was counting on for ROI. 

Feld/mx sports is a scam just like cooksey said they shouldnt let baumer race. 

he’s prolly talkin in a sarcastic way but we only got the playoffs system because nbc gave the sport the money for it & thts wht nbc wanted , WSX is  irrelevant to wht mainstream NBC sports wants out of the sport of moto , its the same shit FOX did with wwe wrasslin when at the time FOX bought the tv rights for their wrassslin shows , u started to see wwe change the way they scripted the shows cause of FOX demands & money they was giving Vince mchmon 

I’m not throwing the baby out with the bath water. Yeah, this weather cancelation sucks but shit happens. I’m sure everyone saying the SMX rounds are lame will be glued to the broadcast the next two weekends and will fill this board with their commentary. 

Yeah, it’s gimmicky but it’s fun and gives these guys an opportunity to make some good money. Sounds like the organizers listened to the riders/teams and did what everyone agreed upon. 

I just hope the promoters make an effort to somehow compensate the fans in  attendance who didn't get what they paid for.

Been saying this from day one.  It’s a joke.  J coop.  Congrats.  You raced every race and had a points lead.  As a reward you go into SMX with a whole three point lead over Jett.  It’s pathetic 

Jesus christ, it sucks but a lot of you are acting like spoiled children who didn't get their way over this.

Quick without looking who are the last 5 grand national champs before smx started?  

Most of us don’t have a problem with the SMX tracks or the racing that is provided.

But we have a problem with the fake hype that we get shoved down our throats the whole year by Weege and RC. You know the crap with the ”most prestigious title in the world” the race that was invented and before one race even was held it got a world championship status, I mean you can’t make that shit up. 

I promise that I heard Weege, RC and JT say the phrase ”SMX World Champion” like 50 times during the broadcast before the first gate drop and then a couple of hundred times more during the two motos.

The constant blabber of double and triple points system JUST to be able to have a winner takes all scenario in the last race, that automatically takes away the edge of the first two races. 

If they treated this for what it is: a monster energy cup on steroids, then they would not get the same criticism that they get now. But at this point they are selling sand and calling it gold…

It’s not prestigious, it’s lucrative and while Feld and their trained monkeys continue to hype up this circus it’s just feels like an insult to both the riders and the fans that knows what it actually is. 

So most of us will watch it since we love motocross, but we don’t like to get treated like idiots while paying to watch it.

Basically, that was one of the sketchiest SX tracks ever, and an act of God saved the riders from having to deal with it as a sloppy mess. Moving on to round two of the “post season.” 

Well Tomac said the track was sketchy and a few guys had crashed that could of been life changing.

I think a Grand National Champ is a good idea but not more races for the riders, mechanics and teams.

Maybe pick a select few throughout the year.

SMX title is a joke for tv.

Riders only show up for the coin and have stuff all interest.

been sayin for a while now that the points leader(s) going into SMX deserve something???   $200k bonus etc for turning up thru Sx and outdoors....

so deegs and Jcoop deserve better imho.............

For an event of this magnitude, how do you not have a contingency plan for weather?
