I know non-moto has turned into hell when people in real life come up to me and bitch about how terrible this section has become. Which has happened a bit lately, but twice in one day while at the track testing is probably a sign.
Going on a cleanup spree, if I find you're a user that is just living in this section, starting shit, or endlessly arguing with the same couple of people (bringing nothing of value to the forum), you will be temporarily suspended.
Cool Hand Luke, TeamGreen, KillerWombat, and EVH4Ever are the first players on suspension. I'll add to it in a bit when I have time.
This comment, of course, isn't pointed to all users in this section, but for those of you who enjoy just endlessly arguing and bitch to each other with nothing positive to add, go outside and touch grass. There's more to life, man...

How long are these suspensions? Did those fellas get a warning before hand ,to tone it down?

If you want to clean up the moto section a bit, get rid of herlich and 971 fan. There only goal is attention by being negative.
If he’s up for it, I’d suggest giving Maverick (as I have before) more control. He’s fair. He stays out of the BS and, everyone likes him.
Please put a memo out there that politics belongs in the dumbgeon point blank. No politcal threads in non moto only in the dumbgeon. Makes it to where you dont have to see it per say. Its not like you can't post on a topic in the dumbgeon to begin with
It’s less the subject and more about the personal attacks. Counter arguments are often little more than derogatory comments, which add little to the conversation. Most of our personal and professional lives encounter confrontation daily, but seldom if ever do they devolve into what we see in Non-Moto.

I get how things escalating (usually between the same 6-8 people) turns many threads into a shit show (mostly in political threads).
But sending every political thread immediately to the dumbgeon, this place will have nothing but cobwebs and crickets.
Almost all of the views and comments are in the political threads, I don't know the answer to moderate that fairly but without political threads the click count will be comparatively almost nothing.
Pretty sure clicks are what pays the bills for VitalMX to remain a viable business, so eliminating the subjects that garner the most attention is probably not in the best business interest for this website.

On a serious note, though I don't vibe with the guy I think Voids recent rise from the dead brought forth a change of pace, a distraction from the very reasons for which ML has banned folks. But alas, good intentions do not always guarantee the results we want.

And politics is a particular important topic, and more people than ever (myself included) are tuned in and trying to make sense of things.
While the name-calling is frustrating, I often find valuable back and forth in a lot of these threads. It is good to challenge each other and our own beliefs, but we shouldn't be here to change each other's minds or let others know how idiotic they are for thinking a certain way.
I find Vital an oddly valuable place to engage in political discussion. There are some pretty sharp folks here who have a lot of valuable life experience from all walks of life. If you're on an online moto forum, you are a passionate person, and these are the best types of people to engage with.
I don't agree they should go straight to the dumbgeon (most will end up there eventually) but this is just a sub forum to a moto board . It was never meant to be the main source of clicks .
I subconsciously scroll past certain member's posts without even thinking about it anymore, brain sees their name and just keeps scrolling. Rarely do I miss out on anything in the conversation. More people should develop this skill.
It's something I learned at work a long time ago. People get mad, want to argue, accuse you of all sorts of things.... you just say "OK" and move on. Let them think they're right and you're terrible and wrong. If you don't engage them it just stops, they're just yelling into the void like the idiot they probably are. Makes work and message boards far more tolerable.
I agree that there's lots of good info and stuff that makes you think mixed in with all the bullshit and I'm thankful for that.

I agree. I try to stay pretty sane in my replies, and treat people the way I want to be treated.
Like Truck said, there are certain posts I just scroll right past. And long AI driven posts all get just a skim.
I think 99% of us would get along fine at the track, even if we knew who they were.
There are a few of them I would have stuffed in a corner and roosted 35 years ago. .Now, not so much…
Also, I can’t imagine bothering ML about it either emailing him or especially confronting him at a track.
By the way, I think ML is doing a great job,( not just sucking up, either )!
Just goes to show that there are people who get buttthurt easily and will bitch and moan about anything and everything. I can remember when supposed “moto” people were tough SOBs and didn’t get so easily offended but I digress…

I think that stuff shows the worst of who we are. I’ve tried to not respond as much when the ‘discussion’ is more about the other poster than the issue. Not easy and I’m not always successful, but it’s worth the effort!!!!
Pretty simple solution:you hit certain amount of downvote and you get certain amount suspension . That will encourage people not to post stupid staff.

Same applies to people who respond with personal attacks. The epitome of “butthurt”. Just got boring after a while.
As lame as it is to fluff the management, I got to give ML some props for his general handling of Vital and this particular issue. He seems like a genuinely busy guy and always has cooler, more important stuff going on in his life. But he keeps this forum running pretty much single handedly. I wouldn’t blame him for just erasing this headache altogether.
