"5%" 'make' it, wicksy85 ?
I'd say it's more like .005%, or, lets put another '0' after the decimal point..
We may be a small sport, but it's still has many thousands within it. And there's not much more than a couple of hundred or so, at any time, even in the USA or Europe, that ''make it" in any significant way.
But, take heart, people - whenever I see riders / parents saying they want their kids to "make it" in other "easier" sports, I chuckle a bit that they must be ignoring / have no idea how many more participants those sports have, making it even more unlikely they'll "make it". Sure, due to the size of other sports, the overall numbers that make a living from more mainstream sports will be higher, but, so will be the competition to "make it".
Is there another sport where the parents name their kids so stupidly?
People underestimate the number of families that are there for fun, not trying to squeeze any juice. We used to rent a motorhome for the week, and we split the cost with another family that stayed in town and just pitted with us. If someone drove by our pit they would probably think we were "balling", unless they noticed the 3 rail trailer that hauled my tired YZ125 to Tennessee. It was no more expensive for us to travel to LL's than it would have been to go to Mini O's, Mammoth, etc.
I feel sorry for the kids that are pressured by parents that have gone beyond their means in hope of pro motocross glory for junior, but those families are the exception not the rule (I hope?).
Thank you for questioning ….. because it doesn’t exist.
I have even seen B racers being DQed at LL for making $ at races.
Traveling to races for the weekend in Toy hauler trailers and $100,000 pickups pulling them has been around for many many years.
I noticed in the early years of Team Green that the Team Green racers had motorhomes like it may have been a requirement for successful appearance.

How where they making money ? Imagine is everything a kid had a new box van for traveling on his own. . His own mechanic Alex Emigs neighbor Alex became Ktm manager. A local audio store gave him 10k stereo. The family had a bus motorhome also & 2 other kids that raced . Angi was doing women’s pro . I bought a trl a guy spent 69k he used it for mini o,s. Then I bought it for 25k & rented it to tge family in between moto homes . I didn’t want to spend 15k on a dually so I sold it on consignment after that . Yr was 96,97 . A couple yrs later another family had a 18 wheeler for 2 boys racing .
I’m a “Rupert”, you’re asking the wrong guy….
Thank you for calling it “the pits” and not “the paddock”.
Like the boy named Sue, she better be fast with that name!
Did we ever acknowledge that Loretta’s is 7 days long plus travel and middle of nowhere while SX is one day and in a city?
One is a campground. One is a parking lot. One is a family event everyone in the fam goes to. One is a professional sport consisting of dad and rider or mechanic and rider.
These are major factors in the size of rig needed.
This right here. ☝️
Easier to drag a huge set-up to only three races a year.
Been there, done that….
I don’t even understand the economics of semi’s. If one or two riders go down—-the big rig still rolls (sometimes with only 1–or none riders). That drives the cfo side of my mind crazy!
Do we really have to go down this road? If yes, look at basketball and football player names...
I’m thinking Diesel is Profeshenal125’s kid.
Pro only knows the cities where these ladies be hangin’
He can’t keep track of the names of the women he’s been bangin’
Diesel, or Triple, or maybe even Jett
Pro has only one rule…
Stick it where it’s wet !
Pro pit move in day is Thursday so its 3 days but yes LL is 7-10 days depending on when you roll in to get a good parking spot. I always arrived on Thursday.
Whoever down voted this needs a tampon.
Bars.
Brilliant.
It's like a plug chop test. Stick it in and go wide open. Pull the plug and you want it a little wet, if it's a bit brown it possibly went in the wrong port in this instance.
Back of the big rig is poorly lit, long day on the road to Loretta's. Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes that means naming your kid Diesel.
I enjoy trying to read Profeshenals posts. It reminds me of those jumbled word dyslexic test paragraphs.
All in good fun, tampons are good to have in the toolbox for when I inevitably get punched in the face.

She WON a title! 10-11 65cc Class! First girl in 44 years to win a non-female class!
You mean 0.5%. Maybe even smaller than that if you define 'making it' as being a full factory rider. And then even smaller than that if you define it as actually making life changing money. Most of the pros in a supercross race are making bugger all, or are paying for their rides courtesy of mummy and daddy.
May as well name their kid Bogan with those names. Especially with the alternate spellings.
I play golf with a "Bodin". The little shit is one heck of a player too.
The best name in Loretta’s right now has to be “Halo Pirate.”
If you know you know 😂 what a name man.
This made me laugh hard for some reason, thank you.
But, if C12 is out cutting lawns on their road to Loretta's, you are raising him (of her) right.
Props to the young gal, Raycin, for being very good at racing. Truly impressive coming away with a title amongst the boys. Credit where credit is due, that is pretty badass.
