He's clearly defensive and holding his hands up in a WTF type fashion and then you can clearly him say "I tried my best!! I tried my best!!" - I'll look for it in a bit...

A competitive bike? Seriously? He's on factory equipment and getting beat by a privateer on a fairly stock KX 450!

Anderson was very competitive on the Kawi when he was healthy. He just doesn't have the speed to run up front anymore.

Prado should be at least inside the top top 8 every race. Especially since AP, JA and CW are out.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned an illness?

Probably because he just talks about the bike being not up to par. This has been going on long enough that you’d think that if it was something like that…. By now it would have surfaced. But who know’s anything is possible.

After much thought and deliberation (a few beers). Here is my synopsis.

Riders of all caliber whether it’s me, you or a pro like prado are looking for a good feeling from the bike.   We can feel how the bike is loaded and how it will react in situations. He’s looking for a feeling from the Kawi similar to his gas gas. But the Kawi is never going to feel like the gas gas. He needs to dedicate himself to learning how this bike feels and how it will react based on that.

The Kawi may not have bad traits but it’s just going to feel different than the GG. He needs to quit searching and start learning.

100%

Sexton was in a similar situation when he moved from Honda to KTM. It was well documented that they were having trouble getting the bike set up for him. So this isn't a new situation. It's all about how you handle it. Sexton always rode hard, was very competitive, and didn't blame it all on KTM. He just kept grinding it out until they figured it out. Prado would do well to take a lesson from that.

Bloody hell. Looking at that video, and with him nearly crying in the interview with Lewis Philips, you have to imagine he's absolutely done mentally.

That's from Millville where he got 12-5, not from the last race.

I can’t imagine his mood improved after washougal.

Jorge got a moto powerful enough to make a holeshot on an uphill starts but his fastest lap is 11 seconds slower than Jett in moto 2. I don't know what else to say.

I hope Prado stays green and if the rumor is true that Sexton will be on Kawi next year that they both put their pride aside and work together to become better and improve the bike platform.
Kawi needs that boost right now.

Honda and Yami are loaded for bear right now.

you cant ride a bike fast your not comfortable on... he can tell kawasaki something it could be totally wrong direction you could go in circles forever.. he tells kawasaki he needs a fast bike. then he gets a lightswitch he cant even hold onto not smooth controllable power. he rode air forks his whole career now hes on spring .. maybe the kawasaki frame is to flexy could be fighting suspension when your frame flexes too much.  look at honda they stiffen up jet and hunters frame.. either way a top level rider and team should be able to figure it out before this long...

Supposedly Reed rode his bike at Club MX and said it was the slowest and worst handling factory bike he ever rode and offered his setup services to both Prado and Kawi. Be interesting to see if they take him up on it.

My money's on Pro.

I,m sure he can’t due to contract details. But he should hire Jeremy from MX Tech he’s a genius.  And maybe run his suspension if allowed.  Larry Ward ran upside down forks on his 89 cr125 . Probably shy  he didn’t hv a Honda ride the next yr tho.  Changing suspension etc takes time .  Then you ride looking for a diff feeling . Instead of high intensity speed & track lines.  When I got the back end to quit getting crazy   . I pu the pace & started finding different lines big difference in riding. I didn’t ship my suspension out a shop did the form for top 50b I think.  Way too soft forks I like stiff for attacking whoops & a plush shock with extra sag.  I hv to compensate my style with butt off the back light on frontend . Legs crouched arms bent up& out & get frontend light to blast threw rollers, etc.  let the body soak up what the forks can’t. Still progressing on riding but I need to show results here quick . This weekend is a big 1 Fri practice sat, sun race . one of the fastest 125 riders in the country was there last yr. He beat Carmichael from Ca. Sun at redbud . Carmichael won fri. The iL. Rider did not race Fri. .  My plan 1st gear  on the start to jump 50 ft out. Technically i could say I lead 1 of the fastest riders 125 riders. And top 5 to 8 but expect to be top 5 in 40b but not surprised to go 5-3. Sponsors don’t know 40b  is slower usually than 50+. I say let him ride some other bikes . To get him

Loosened up & having fun.  MC is a Kawi guy with  cool bikes 125,250,500.

Please educate me on this air fork vs spring fork decision that cannot be reversed?  Why can't a team like Kawi experiment with some old Showa air forks, or have Showa make some sort of works conversion kit that's similar to what Prado had on the Austrian bike?

Does Showa even make the TAC fork anymore?  Eli needed a clause in his contract to run Kyb/work with gilly. Can’t imagine Kawi is gonna let him run anything but Showa. They seem to move change direction with the quickness of a cruise ship.

I don't think they still make it which is why I said "old", but a factory team with resources like that could pull a set off the shelves and get to work considering the big money they are paying George.

I don’t know that any factory riders liked that fork when it came out let alone now. The Showa and WP forks are pretty different.

It sounds like there is some politics at play leading to him not being able to try different suspension. (Via Matthes and Phil on pulp show from 7/15).

Factory teams don’t operate with a blank check either and a lot of parts are budgeted at the beginning of the year. Which is why you test to decide what you like and what you need extras of.

Remember a few years ago roczen was wanting a bfrc shock on his Honda. But Honda didnt have any because they didn’t order them based on pre- season testing of Ken preferring the standard shock.

SUPER STOOPID rule by the Nephilim running this chit... so you give him a super bad taste of racing in america, by having him nearly crash himself to death through the entire SX series.... then it's time for a full national/Superstupidcross season to start!!!

i mentioned before about how in my Jr and Sr years in HS i could nottt wait to go to the college i had selected.. full ride and all!!!!...  however, once there, it Fn suckedddd.... i hate everything about it.... that's where Jorge is right now... he's riding like he put in his 2 week notice, over a month ago... Key take away- Don't force guys that have only raced MX their entire life, into the 450 SX class...!

Nobody forced Jorge to do anything, he chose to race here.

In Lewis’s post race interviews, Matthes said Reed had ridden the bike and was blown away by how fast it was. I’m assuming this would have been the new engine package.

Everyone seems to be stuck on the power thing, but that appears to be old news. The handling thing could be true, who knows?

This just goes to show you how cool it was for KTM to go out of their way and give Chase what he was asking for.....if Prado is that adamant about trying different equipment and I'm Kawi spending milions, I'm doing whatever I can to deliver what Prado is asking for.  And if results don't improve, he's out.  Save the money for Chase.

But didnt Kenny have his shit show at rch back in the day? He was way faster on stock bike than rch zook. His dad gave a interview to some german mx magazine and blamed the team.

https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Roczens-Dad-on-RCH,1290565

The german mx magazine "Cross Magazin" just came in the mail and they did a interview with Heiko Klepka on RCH. It was stunning to see what he said... I'll just translate some key things from the interview, I'd have never thought that it was THAT bad. (Sometimes I ran out of translation talent and changed the exact wording, but the key facts are still right)

About the team
"The RCH Racing Team is not a team, but a randomly mixed bunch of self promoters. In this so-called team there is no team spirit, because everybody just works for his own interest. It's about money. There are people on the team, that obviously have no function, but they're getting payed. For example there is Mark Johnson, who was brought in by Carmichael from the Indycar series. This man is just superarrogant and he has no clue about suspensions. That affects the mood of the team and the performance of my boy. It's purely about sponsors and money at RCH, Ken is just a playing ball. I have never experienced something like this in all the GP years."

About the management
"I'm sure Ken would leave the team immediately. But that isn't easy, because his management is also involved with the team. [...] If he violates the contract, he'll have to pay 2'000'000$ fees. Also, his manager Steve Astephen has no clue about the sport. For example, at the beginning of the outdoor season, he told Ken: "Tomac doesn't ride in your league, why do you let him pass you?" When I heard that, my jaw dropped (Original german saying: 'blieb mir die Spucke weg- my spit stayed away). [...]
There is already a little Clique that developed around my boy and success in the sport is only a small part. He has no control, not over the bike and not over the team. Of course Ken noticed this too. Actually, the vibe was gone after 2 months, because the people in the team already tried to part him and Kelly Lumgair. These people never were in the workshop, and Kelly was a real confidante for Ken and it was a really hard decision for Kelly, to go with Suzuki. He gave up the best job in the world then. And now he goes back to KTM- any questions?"

About Ricky Carmichael
"Of course Ricky isn't a bad dude, but as a team chef, he is an insult for Ken Roczen. It's hard to believe, but he shows up a couple of times during the year, waves and lets out some cool patters. You want a tasting sample? 'Everyone has problems with the air forks. We can't make the shock that good, or else it wouldn't work with the fork.' I know that he doesn't even watch Kens races, but he rather drives out with his boat. Other than that, he seems satisfied with how everything is going."

Did they lie to Ken from the beginning on?
I'll shorten it up a bit here: They don't get the suspension working because nobody cooperates with each other, for example, in the workshop they just rebuild the complete bike. The 19th place in the first moto isn't the result of his back, but of a completely unrideable bike(!!!). They didn't even start preparing for Supercross so far.

Roczen searches for solutions himsel
"We tried to clarify that internal, and tried to bring a german suspension specialist, that Ken trusts blindly, into the team. Of course that was rejected. Then we tried to get a stock Suzuki, but ended up buying one ourself. The german suspension guy came and was completely ignored by the team. Ricky knew who he is and why he was here, and just asked if he was spending his vacaction here. We then tested with the stock bike and Ken was 3 seconds (Hell yes, 3 effing seconds!!) faster than with his factory bike. With stock suspension and a stock engine."
Shortened ending: They tried to contact everybody, Geboers, sports boss of Suzuki in Japan, but they couldn't help because RCH is no factory team. Only Suzuki USA offered help by the factory team, but that was rejected by RCH. At the middle of the season, they wanted to test, but RCH said: 'No, we only can next week'. They had their guy, but RCh brought 7, which all didn't help. They were allowed to ride Baggetts suspension later, which RCH worked on after 1 race- with result of Ken not liking it anymore. Then they wanted to see the contract with Showa, if they could get a new one, a 10 year old one or the old one of Baggett. But RCH didn't show it to them. He also said, that if the air forks won't work, they will go back to the traditional forks, which they did, as we all know.

What could've solved the problems?
"At the middle of the season, they should have fired all the incapable people and replaced them with our confidante. Then we would've had a unstoppable Ken Roczen on Suzuki. But because of the arrogance at RCH, only escape remains for Kenny.

So that's pretty much it. I would have never thought that it was THAT bad at RCH... But I guess Heiko didn't lie right here. I'm sorry for all the grammatical mistakes, my English is obviously still not perfect. But I hope you guys can understand everything!

Maybe somebody should ask prados dad whats up. Prado himself doesnt seem to know anything.

Had no idea RC was a chef.

He was probably a good chef, he was getting his chunk on again during the RCH days 😂😂😂

I know DV12 has plenty happening after the unfortunate incident with his mothers house in France, but I would love to hear his opinion on this
