RC is the GOAT and, like Ryno said, probably will be until this sport dies. Setting aside all the stats, wins and titles, who would you most want to ride like? Its a tossup for me between Jett and peak RV. Jett for the beautiful perfection and RV for the ruthless aggression.

In the boxing world it's like comparing Mayweather to Pacquiao. Mayweather is the most talented, regarded as "TBE" (the best ever). Never lost a fight (50-0). While Pacquiao is the most accomplished ever (the only boxer to win 8 titles in different weight divisions). Floyd is Jett. Manny is RC.

JS7, using HALF the cc's (a 125 2-stroke against mostly 250 4 strokes) climbed from the back of the pack against the worlds best 250f riders to win at Buds Creek.

When another rider, including Jett, can take a 225 cc 2-stroke and climb through the field of the worlds best on 450 4-strokes............then that will be epic. Until then, he's put in some good rides.

Chase coming from dead last to win at Hangtown and many many others, were all better than what Jett did from 18th place.

Jett is really great...one of the best ever. But, as we all have seen, it takes one bad/different model year or change of a bike and suddenly the person looks/rides different. The Honda model Jett is running currently he really does gel with and Honda will do probably everything they can to keep it this way. Look at the McGrath and Honda BITD. Suddenly the 1997 bike was a literal hunk of sh*t and basically un-raceable.

He went 22-0 on a different gen bike too. Something to think about.

Yup...the kid is good. But Honda really didn't change much and probably won't for several years.

Every time Jett dumps the clutch when the gate drops we are witnessing perfection. That second moto was epic and the pass made on Cooper was mind boggling. Weather or not Jett ends up eclipsing RC in wins because there’s a long way to go, really doesn’t matter. I never thought I’d ever say this, but I believe after watching that second moto , I’m watching the Greatest MX rider I’ve ever seen. Jett is a finally tuned machine and Honda has given him everything he needs.

What's great too is they're eating eggs and bacon for breakfast and ice cream on race day. Aldon would never!

Hunter mentioned wanting a big steak after Red Bud. So throw in red meat along with the dairy.

I’m a huge RC fan , from day one. I get it, that’s why I stated that I never thought I would ever say it. But I think Jett is better. Obviously not in terms resumes, but because of what I’m seeing Jett do on track this year. I’ve never seen any rider ride that fast and smooth and make it look effortless every time out. Definitely remains to be seen if he can eclipse RC’s stats, but stats don’t always tell the story of who was the best .

I am a big stats guy, and you can use them to argue in different ways.

Total wins is one thing, win percentage is another.

Let’s play devils advocate here and say that MC got his 72 wins, and if another rider wins 71 with a 100% win rate through his career, who was the best?.

It’s a extremely hypothetical argument but win percentage is often not talked about.

is it how many wins you got, how long you were in the sport or how good you were while you were in it?. Ofc you could not claim to be the best ever if you race one race and go out with a 100% win rate but after a couple of years of racing it becomes interesting to look at it.

I don’t remember what stat RV had that was better than RC that really surprised me that they talked about in the last title 24.

Win percentage should always be in a greatest debate after a certain number of attempts. 💯👍🏻

nahhh Floyd wasent the most natural talented , he was just the best defensive boxer boxing has seen , the most talented would be either Roy jones jr , Ali or sweet pea & the pac man comparison with RC ehhhh I kinda see it but i don’t

I 100% agree.

Even if it’s not Jett, and somebody in the future.

But I’m genuinely curious because RC’s “GOAT” nickname is his whole brand.

He's also the first athlete I can remember ever being called the GOAT. Its thrown around in every sport now or comment section in social media. Is MJ or Lebron the GOAT? Tom Brady is the GOAT. All over Instagram is GOAT comments or emojis. But 20yrs ago RJ was THE one and only GOAT in sports. At least that I can remember

RC will forever be the GOAT and Jeremy will forever be the King of SX if Jett or anybody else breaks their records they will have their nickname decided by the fans and media at that time.

Jett is not at 100% physically or emotionally …. yet.

At round 1 Jett showed his emotion after the checkered flag and ET stayed on him both motos waiting for a crack. Jett didn't think he could win round 1 but he did . Each week Jett is feeling stronger and stronger.

This year the 450 field is stacked. Several Guys that have been knocking on the door for top 10 for a couple years are struggling to make top 20

There has been a drastic changing of the guard. Add Dangerboy to the 450 mix is going to make things very interesting.

Like Jett did add Deegan to one of the 450 classes at the MXoN.

I cant believe this even makes sense in your own head..... Youre talking about state of the art 2 stroke technology vs the very beginning of the 4 stroke era when suzuki and kawasaki barely survived a moto and honda was lucky to survive 2 motos. If 2 stroke technology continued to progress the way 4 stroke technology has, i would bet the farm Jett would win on a 225cc two stroke.

I’m pretty sure he and everyone around just referred to him as “The Greatest”. LL Cool J came out with an album in 2000 called G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) which appears to be the origin of the acronym.

RC

Roczen

Tomas

Villopoto

Dungey

In their time, in their moments, these and other iconic riders were mind blowing. What you’re seeing of Jett Lawrence right now is another iconic rider in his time & in his moment. There will be another that will come along to take the baton…sooner or later.

I would love to see it. That said ,Chase up to this point hasn’t been able to do much when trying to run with Jett other than ride in his wake. Seems like he just can’t get there and eventually makes a mistake/ falls and Jett rides away with another win. Before Chase even thinks about beating out Jett for a championship, he first has to beat him for an overall and then do that on a regular basis. Right now it sounds like a tall order because Jett can ride all day long at a pace fast enough to beat Chase without mistakes.
