I believe Crusty is referencing Australia being the current MXdN winners 😆

Hey Spode33, I take it you've never seen Jeffrey Herlings race in his prime? Perhaps you remember Ironman 2017?

Prado isnt going to ride a turd and push the limits.

He made shit decisions and now he is paying the price.

Both Factory Kawasaki's qualified behind Brad Todd, a guy who isnt on a team in the UK, and fits loft insulation as his day job,  who flew out and borrowed a bike.

Shambles.

Its done for more riders than any other brand, anyone who has ridden it in Europe for the last 5 years will attest to that.

Ben Watson finally found something that gave him what he wanted, and the the team changed it back, Seewer hated it and couldnt get it changed to suit him, Mitch Evans did nothing on it,and Jonass is doing the same,

Anderson , AC, Weimer, and Tickle all struggled with it , as did Savatgy.

Tomac left because he couldnt get the bike changed.

The team is clueless? That is absolutely the winningest 450 team on the gate by far.

They had RV and Tomac and Stewart, and as a result of having the best riders, they wouldnt entertain that the bike needed work for other riders.

Well documented. Ask Weimer.

Finishing behind Burger Boy Webb is even tougher. It must sting having to battle with that fat holiday-loving fuck when you know under normal conditions you'd be dropping him by 50 seconds.

But as the odd sane poster has pointed out, Prado is not riding anywhere near like himself. He's basically said the bike is not where it needs to be and he's not comfortable on it at all.

What’s your beef with Webb? Doing better than you expected outdoors?

Webb hurt his precious little feelings somehow. Maybe because his compatriot Jett didn't get the SX title this year. Poor guy.

I think Webb's a fat lazy turd with zero style who most of the time can't be fucked doing outdoors. That's pretty clear cut.

I love how some people think that a multi-time world champion coming to the US and struggling a bit somehow proves that the GPs are secretly slower than the US nationals and we’ve all just been fooled — and now Prado is “exposing” it.

Come on. Anyone who’s actually watched him ride knows this isn’t the Prado we normally see. Something’s clearly off. If and when he gets it sorted, he’s seriously fast.

This is not some grand indicator of GP vs US pace. If it were, the Nations results would look very different — and Herlings wouldn’t have turned up and handed everyone their lunch at Ironman.

I guess the same could be said about Stewart at the 06 des Nations when Everts beat him. It was clear to anyone watching Stewart that he wasn't riding like himself.

But be that as it may, he lost. Just like Herkings won, but that was 2017.  This is 2025, and I think the AMA boys have caught up in speed (due in large part to Jett making everyone push it more).  I think guys like Deegan, Davies, and Hymus will be even faster.

The tide always turns.

Sorry the des nations is not comparable. In the USA the riders get up to $150k for win bonuses, in the des nations they get nothing. You can't tell me that doesn't effect motivation, even if the rider states it doesn't.

Prado is a badass motocross racer and 100% would be getting podiums if he was only racing MX. But he's not. This is the US and we race way more races and there's 2 disciplines that require different bike setup and different skill sets.

Euros don't appreciate how much SX takes out of these guys. But, watching Vialle and Prado is starting to teach you.

It's weird that you took Kenny as an example. We never heard a single complaint from Kenny since he joined HEP, he must feel absolutely amazing on that bike and the team gives him everything that he needs. But did you already forget some of his years with other teams? Because we have seen the complete opposite from him.

Saying he doesn't feel comfortable on KTM and leaving the team in 2014, saying the Suzuki in 2015 was completely unridable for him, 2022 was probably his worst off year, after winning Thunder Valley he looked like a different guy, even bashing the Honda on social media and basically just riding his contract out, even declining the Honda offer when he had nothing else lined up.

When you go back to some of my comments earlier this year I stated exactly that, it's a complete different story having the whole winter/off season to prepare for MX or only getting a couple weeks of preparation in. It's not really an excuse for Prado and Vialle, since it's the same for everyone in the US. But he still doesn't look the same on the Kawi, not even close. He looked worse on the Kawi than on his GasGas even in SX. I guess it can only get better from here though.

Ken won 450MX championships on both the KTM and Suzuki that you referred to, so I think that proves my point, which is that the bIke is not an excuse.

I think you and I agree that it's a different world in the US.

I personally think that if Prado would've come sooner, he'd be doing even better than Tom is. And, I think Tom will do well in 450s.

You are taking a what, 8 year old reference for Suzuki and KTM, that the Kawi is not the issue at the moment? 😂

Bike is the issue. If it ain't tailored to the rider it won't work.

If bike wasn't the issue, Jett would leave it as ia. Still they did testing all last week. Tomac had to change shock setting for second moto.

AP went wrong direction and couldn't ride it in second moto. Hymas went 1 1 after dialing in the bike from first races and being sick last weekend. Tomac went from 1-2, to 5-7 when setting wasn't right. Stew refuse to ride without factory ECU. RC requires a super special setup. RV even more so. McGrath used old frames because the new was so bad. Jcoop was throwing factory wheels off the bike for stock wheels to try and get comfort.

Sure, it can not be the bike for Prado when he ends up 5th....

I haven't seen one rider last 10, or 20 years where a mental switch has made someone go from top 5 to winning races. And you will never find one either.

Still we have people sitting on a forum, that would be 30 sec a lap slower claiming they should just get over it and ride.

So champions overcame the limitations of the bIke and didnt make excuses. Interesting.

Crazy that Prados expectations went from world championships to Jake Weimer.

I'm going to give it a couple more rounds. He got hurt early in SX. He's in a completely different world over here where he doesn't get to spend the day before riding the track for an hour and he hasn't ridden these tracks. He went from a world where they have carte blanch to fit the bike to the rider to one with many more limitations on what they can do and a team that has been historically stubborn to give riders what they want when it isn't what the team thinks they should have. I do wonder why he signed with Kawi based on that factor though. We are three rounds in and two of them have been exceptionally difficult days. Hangtown was hot as balls and the way Thunder Valley shaped up it was not a track conducive to figuring out your issues. That track was wildly difficult and took 110 percent focus. If Kaw can give him the power he wants (and it sounds like that is a big if) and he gets some settings he likes I won't be surprised to see some improvements especially at places like Southwick, Red Bud and Millville. I want the dude to get up there and run with the boys at least in the top 5. Part of what this shows is just like when RV went to MXGP it is not an easy transition.

How do you suppose AP7, CS1, or ET3 would do in the GP’s?  Better than Jorge?

I don't think they would be in 7th place a minute behind the leaders. Everyone laments RV's GP experience, but he won a race within 4 races.

If Chase and Eli went to GPs they'd be on the podium. If Jorge was only racing outdoors in the US, he'd be on the podium.

I dont know why the Euro bros can't just acknowledge that racing SX makes things much more difficult.  It seems like they believe that  admitting to that would suddenly invalidate how good GP riders really are, which is dumb.

The bike was fine for Anderson in sx, he podiumed like 4 outta the first 8 rounds or something. I think Prado thought he’d have these guys covered outdoors and Jett, Eli, AP are all hauling ass. I’m pretty sure there was an interview with Prado last year or the year before on gatedrop.com where Prado was saying he could beat Jett. Reality might be hitting him pretty hard right now, or maybe he should’ve came over on a 250 after he won his MX2 titles like Vialle.

Jett raised the bar now AP, Eli, and Sexton have stepped it up. Prado will have to do the same.

Hard to push the limit if you aren't comfortable on the bike. If you are rolling to the gate with any doubt in your setup you've already lost the race.

Even Tomacs bike looks busy as hell out there compared to Jett's bike. Tomac just happens to be a psycho that will continue twist the throttle through headshake on a gnarly rutted track while being 28 mins into a 30 min moto.

Yea Tomac will keep accelerating all crossed up and swapping until he sees Jesus, then he’ll hold it wide open for 5 more seconds while
other riders have their braking marks and acceleration points.   Tomac is just built different

AP starting to ride like Tomac a bit now also.

Not sure that it is Tomac's bike that looks busy as much as it is Tomac.  Jett is a wizard at seeking out the smooth, momentum saving lines.  On top of that, he just has a very smooth, fluid style.  Tomac is like a honey badger and just doesn't give a shit....his answer is always more throttle.  I've really learned to appreciate Jett's riding style and finesse, but damn, Tomac is by far the most fun to watch in the 450's.

Panic button has to be pressed after the last weekend.

Sure, he has multiple things that is against him (new bike, team, tracks, format etc). But Prado is an elite rider, even with these things against him he should be able to finish much, much closer to the winners where he and the team expects him to eventually be at.

Then factor in the complete wash that the SX season was, things are looking grim to be honest.

At the moment the GP guys that have come here are not setting the world on fire in MX that's for sure. How much of Prado's MXGP titles was familiarity with the tracks, lots of track time and a works GP bike that was tailored to him specifically?

You’re saying he only won titles because of track familiarity, track time and a GP spec bike? As in, the same 3 things that all of his competitors have also???

No, I think he's saying there are 7 dudes ahead of Prado only because they know which way the track goes 😆
