I was doing laps the other day at Pax and generally don't have anyone to run the stopwatch so is there any way to set my Garmin or Strava to have a set lap and have it count my laps and lap time? I was running the vet track and my Garmin just shows the total time and a blob of a line because I did so many laps. I could probably hit the lap button on my watch but that is a bit of a pain and I may not hit it or make some other mistake.

If you pay for strava, you can create a segment off of your last ride.
1. create a new segment
2. select start and finish points then click next
3. name it and then you can choose to make it public of not.
LITPro. It links with a garmin watch. Tons of information.
I had the paid version before and didn't see the value. If someone else made that a segment, can I find it with my free version? If not I may have to pay.
Lit Pro.
Using watch apps like Garmin or apple can be inaccurate, depending on the device.
whatever GPS device you use has to have multiple gps connections, as moto is too fast and the turns are too sharp for a normal cycling or running device to keep up with rapid speed and directional changes.

LITPro looks interesting. Says $4.99 or $11.99 a month, do you know the programs? What do you have?
If you have a GoPro just record your laps and look at the time on the footage each time you cross the finish line.
My mountain bike trail has about 50 yards from the end of the loop back to the start. If I set the LITPro start and finish, will it not count the transfer section? Lots of times I stop at the truck for a drink between laps and it would be cool if it kind of ignored that time.
buy the last year's Polar M Vantage or equivalent for under $150 and hook up to Litpro
I have the $4.99 a month currently but think I’m going to go to the next level. The $11.99 a month gives you some more data like line choice in corners. It’s fun for me to check all the data after each moto. The thing that really blows my mind is my fastest lap times are always when I’m just “cruising around.” I guess there is truth to the “smooth is fast and fast is smooth” motto. Every time I try to set a fast lap I end up blowing a corner which ruins the whole lap.

For the record I’m not fast. Just enjoy riding and trying to improve. Here’s some screenshots from Sunday so you get an idea of the type of information you get from LIT Pro.
I count out loud: one, Mississippi; two, Mississippi...
I think OP asked this same question in 2023 https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/moto-related/tracking-your-lap-times-while-practicing
Some pretty good info in there. I use XGPS160 and MXBuddy app and I'm very happy with the results. Key thing is accuracy of GPS receiver.
Wow, looks like I did and I still didn't find the autolap feature on my phone. The good news is this thread just got me to get the LITPro app on my phone and now I have a Garmin Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar in my Amazon cart.
For LitPro I use the Racebox Micro cut into my bar pad, I used to use a polar M3 but this is more accurate in plotting which corner lines are faster.
I recently noticed the Garmin Fenix 8 (and it seems 7?) now have a Motocross feature with auto lap function. Anyone used it?
I'll second RaceBox. I use the standard version and just attach it to my front fender just like KTM mounts it on there factory version. The S version doesn't need any support connection to a watch or phone. Its stand alone. Post session just link via blue tooth to your phone and down load the laps and telemetry. I've used it for moto and ice racing (up to 80 MPH) and the 25htz bit rate tracks lines accurately.
Down load the free RaceBox app or a one time $7.99 purchase for MX Buddy. No need for another monthly app fee....
Ive got this GPS thing in the front fender of my KTM...Has anyone used that with the KTM app? Not really sure how that works...
Easy. I go for quantity. Only need the fingers on one hand- by the number of laps before gassing out.
I'm so slow, I use a calendar.
Pit Row
I have this and really like it: https://www.crossboxapp.com/
I use MX Buddy. It's a 1 time fee and works with all GPS, and the guy who made it is on this forum. I use both my Apple Watch and GPS to compare (Apple Watch is not very accurate). I use a XGPS160 and get very accurate lap times. Watches generally can only give you lap times +- a few seconds. If you are racing and training you need something like an XGPS160 or the Racebox Mini or Micro. @Brent post above is a sweet setup that LitPro recommends and this exact setup would work with MX Buddy too. The only downside to MX Buddy is creating the track segments, which are tough sometimes due to track changes and Apple/Google maps being outdated. MX Buddy also doesn't support Android yet, which would be awesome on my Fold. I've also used LitPro and it works great as well, but it costs the same amount monthly that you can get MX Buddy for. I suggeset try MX Buddy and if you just don't get it then to get LitPro. Either app can show you segment times and compare laptimes "live". I'm not very fast and just a weekend warrior, but I like tech stuff and to track my rides. https://www.mxbuddyapp.com/
I use the motocross option on my Garmin Fenix 7 along with a chest band. It works great, tracks lap times and a bunch of other stats that I don't pay much attention to. I mainly just use it to monitor my heart rate and V02 max stats during a ride session.
👆this. And you can use the MTB mode in Strava, I’m 99% sure the vet track at Pax is set up as a segment (I know the main track is), along with every other MX track in FL
I’m fast enough to use a sundial..
My racebox GPS worked really good until I forgot to take it off my bike when washing it.
Since I bought from Amazon, they wouldn't entertain any repairs. Nice paper weight
Sportcount has held up very well. About $45-50.
You're fast enough that you beat me to it.
But slow enough that someone beat me to the calendar.
Mx Buddy. One time fee, and the app is great.
😀 This is an old MXA joke. IYKYK to use modern parlance.
I found a tracker they use for turtles in the wild. Speed differential seems to match up.
