So, Prado already pulled the plug on Socal and heading to FL for the summer to test because of the shit show and lack of tracks? Can't blame him I guess. Will the tracks out here be less crowded with pros this summer?

I wonder what Kawasaki has done to help local tracks?

If you want to be competitive in the AMA pro national series, you have to train in Florida or Georgia at a facility with other fast guys.

California is a great place to have fun if you are a hobbyist, but the sport has evolved to the point to where a professional training on public tracks here will not prepare you for the conditions at AMA nationals.

We just don't have the ruts or the humidity to prepare them for tracks like Red Bud or High Point.

Of course, the beast Tomac is the exception here...

The populated areas LA, SF, SD and Sacramento control the state. Your Governor Newsom is related to Nancy Pelosi, what do think is going to happen. COVID money bailed out California, you were in the black. Newsom spent it all plus a lot more. Now  he’s got a deficit of almost $70 billion. Yeah. the California dream keeps on giving.

Show us on the doll where California touched you.

Yes I care way too much about my family, the country and my future to live there and give my tax dollars to a place that just wants to see the place burn.  We'd be better off if it broke off into the ocean tomorrow.

Born and Raised in California. I've lived all over this state. From Nor Cal to Orange County. Die hard Californians will defend this place to their death. Yes it is unique in the fact you can literally do anything you want. The beaches used to be enjoyable, now not so much. Overcrowding, and the water near Santa Monica is filthy. Imperial beach has sewage in it from Mexico. Sure, you learn the places to avoid so you can stay in your bubble. That way you can say it's not that bad.  Homelessness is a problem everywhere, its the worst in California. How about streets lined with tweaker tents? Enjoy finding needles on the ground? How about people shitting on the sidewalk? How about having sex on the sidewalk? Shooting up drugs as they push their shopping cart around. Luckily, Newsom did one good thing and vetoed the safe injection sites that were proposed. Have to imagine they will try again. Let's not forget the soft on crime approach. Thieving is a problem in California. Taxes,  California tax rate on 100K earners is nearly 10% and they will tax your retirement at the same rates. The state is going downhill and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. If you can ignore all the problems, its a great place to make money, eat good food and enjoy the outdoors.

Can you show me on a map where you find these things in Irvine, Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita etc.?  I am not from Ca. and I’ll defend it til death. I’ve lived elsewhere and been through most of the US.  Ca. Is a great place to live, sure it has its inner city problems, but so does every other state.  San Fran, Oakland, LA and SD have horrible areas but so does Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans and Detroit.  Have boots on the ground comparisons, so no Fake News crap here. Happy Trails…

The vet track at Glenn Helen is advertised as a beginner/junior track. I follow my son around on his 85 and he knows to stay in his line and never cross. I also tell him to not take the main line. Am I not supposed to have him on that track for practice days? The kid track is holding him back and is not challenging enough. I want to be considerate to other riders, but I also want him to improve. I feel like the fast riders can go on the pro track because it is more challenging.

Sounds like the vet track is perfect for him. Even the main track would probably be ok as long as you’re there on a day where there aren’t a bunch of pros hammering motos and he knows how to be safe.

Yes, Elsinore had two that were safe and fun (plus they had flaggers!). So glad they're reopening. I hope new group brings back the IV track. That was my jam

Barona EMT just crossed the main track on the downside of a jump with oncoming traffic and got hit today. Flipped her cart. Riders been on the ground for 15 min or so now

Not sure for Monday, but Cahuilla, Barona, CalCity, and Perris (Sunday only?) should be good to go this weekend...

I am originally from 20 miles west of New Orleans and have been all over the Southeast including Alabama, Been to Monster Mountain several times as well as Talledega. I don’t miss the heat, humidity, constant rain, flat earth (meaning no mountains), the bugs, the mold, the mildew, etc etc.

Just know that Northern California, Central California and Southern California are very different from each other as is Gulf Shores to Birmingham to Tallassee.

To each their own but don’t let one small sample of Ca cloud your vision of the rest of what the state has to offer. Much like I wouldn’t ask someone that visited Grand Isle, La, “what did you think of the state?”as it’s the polar opposite from Monroe, La.

If you ever make it back to Southern California cruise PCH South from Newport Blvd all the way thru Laguna Beach and into San Clemente and let us know what you think.  In San Clemente go down Del Mar ave to the pier and then back up.

If you are going to Pala National this could be a scenic way down to Oceanside then 74 East straight towards Pala. Would be much more “scenic” then bombing down the 15 not seeing much of anything of what Ca. has to offer.

Btw, I'm not trying to sell the south like it doesn't have MAJOR issues itself.  It's whatever you are used to id imagine. But I'll definitely drive the route you mentioned.

In Corona Del Mar set your GPS to Corona Del Mar state beach and cruise Ocean Blvd in both directions there pull over at the lookout and take it in.  Same in South Laguna, pull over at Montage Resort and walk the public area. Just South of that is Strands Beach with parking and a huge overlook. So much to see and do if you are an outside person, and the beauty of it is pick your “thing” and just go do it. The elevated costs here, I consider the “country club fee” that I would have to pay elsewhere to simulate these amenities that are just out the door.

Hey Brocster, I followed your trip advice and while it was an absolutely beautiful area, it was super crowded It reminded me a lot of the coastal florida towns especially the ones further south.

I can see the lure of the area but man I'd have to own a bicycle or a street bike.  It was WAAY to crowded for my liking. Granted going on a Sunday and a holiday weekend might not have been the best time to experience the area. It took quite awhile to complete the trip and absolutely zero places to park near the water.

But it was a pretty area. Thank for the trip advice. Race was freaking awesome though!! Did you go?

Yeah, Holiday time at the beach you have to be a little prepared to deal with the crowds and traffic on PCH.  Glad you took some time to experience Ca. outside of “the cities” as most like to think that is how Ca. is and its absolutely not.

Yes I did go to the race, actually had a friend and his son fly in from La. for it.  Weather was great, little windy, and the race was great. Followed it up with a MTB ride on Monday. Good weekend, Glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah it was crazy busy but it was everywhere Sunday. Monday wasn't so bad.  It's the LA area I was referring to about not really having a liking for really.  Oh we do get out of the cities.  Proud fact for us (gf and I) we rode out to Channel Islands, hiked and did the kayak trip thingy. It was fun and was our final California National park visit. Yep, we have seen all 9 Cali Nat'l parks now. It was a goal and the race at Pala allowed us to go to the final one on the way back up the coast to Santa Cruz. Two more shifts and this assignment is over!!

Loading up the RV and headed out to Hangtown on Friday afternoon.  Supposed to be hot as shit Saturday for raceday!!  Unfortunately the track camping is full so we got to find other accommodations. Probably best anyway, surely cheaper somewhere else. Was it the first time your LA friends came out west for a mx race?  How did they like it?

It really is funny to watch the gaslighting non-CA residents will do to themselves to convince themselves California is a dump.

Wanna know why it is so expensive here? Plain and simple, supply and demand. If you polled every non-CA, US resident, about where they would want to live if money wasn't an issue, I bet you over 50% would say they would love to live near the beaches of socal.

To the dudes complaining about california, just admit that you cannot make it happen out here, and that's okay, but don't try to soap box yell about it being an awful place when it clearly is not. Okay bye 👋IMG 5524IMG 3964.JPG?VersionId=ZMpLI9F39l5BkAIMG 5184.JPG?VersionId=MIMG 5308.JPG?VersionId=C8C95gOpBeSB7QmIi6g

The supply and demand comes from all the imported illegals 😂

Camping will definitely be cheaper elsewhere for sure and I’m going to skip Hangtown and stay down here where it’s a littler cooler and watch it TV.  Was my friends first race but not first time at Pala. He drove here from La last year to ride and vacay with his family. Stayed 12 ish days and both he and his family love it here as I believe many would if they were shown around to know where and where not to go to get the real experience of what Ca. has to offer.

Sorry to veer off topic.

What's going on with Elsinore? I see people are riding SX there. I guess insurance for that is probably easier to get vs a practice day for 200 mortals? Or is insurance not the issue? Who has the crystal ball? We need another track in the rotation bad.

"Elsinore can't open soon enough."

this is an absolutely insane statement lol, worst track in Socal.  Idek how it stayed open as long as it did.

This last comment is just more proof that people without a brain really do exist. 😆

This is what the vet track is for IMO. I always try to be courteous to the kids and parents on the vet track.

Unofficial protocol on So Cal tracks on practice days seems to be faster riders or big bikes are on track for the first 3 hours, then as the day progresses the minis and beginners get out and ride.

No track is posting this as a rule, but it happens most every practice day...
