Wondering if the pressure and intensity of this SX battle between Sexton and Webb will lead to a letdown for outdoors, or perhaps will they both carry momentum into the outdoor season. Most of the other heavy hitters are coming in off injuries as well. Also, will Sexton's contract negotiations effect his riding?

Sexton will contend for the title. Webb will be 5-10.
If Webb is top 5 outdoors I would be surprised.
Is Webb racing outdoors?
Webb was really good on the 250 in MX, but hasn't shown that on the 450 yet. I think with everyone back he will have a tougher time in MX, but you never know if he gets his mind right what could happen.

Early in Webbs career on a 250f, on Blue, wasn't he pretty good outdoors? Not sure if he ever won an MX championship on the 250f, but I thought he was one of those hard chargers near the end of motos back in the day similar to RJ or even a little like Baggett, but thats probably giving him too much credit.
I know he's never been too good on a 450, but IDK, I thought he was early in his career?
Webb will do a couple nationals, then come up with a minor injury that will take him out until 2026 SX.
I'm a Webb fan, but he's raced a 450 outdoors in 5 different seasons I believe (not full seasons) and has never shown flashes of brilliance, so I don't expect him to come out of nowhere in the back half of his career and be a contender.
For Sexton, I don't think this SX title fight will affect his outdoor performance. I think he's naturally a better outdoor rider on the 450 and will find a way to consistently podium and contend for wins regardless of his mental state, his competition, or the bike he's on. I'd go so far as to say he's my pick for the outdoor title, with Prado admittedly not being 100% yet, Jett likely not being 100% for the first couple of rounds, and Tomac, while still blazing fast, being a huge question mark to get through an entire season at this point in his career.
Yeah, He was good in his 250 outdoor days 2016 champ. Only 1 overall ever on a 450
No offence to Coop, but I've got Jett, Eli, Chase, Hunter, Prado and Plessinger ahead of him outdoors.
will be interesting how motivated Sexton remains, given it seems he's already signed for Kawi and KTM's financial situation is looking worse by the week.
Web will get smoked as usual
I don’t think Webb suddenly finds huge speed outdoors on the 450. A great start and a little luck, maybe he finds a podium. But he’s put his career into SX and it shows.
Even Barcia typically dusts Webb…
Words of Wisdom:
"Never ever write Coop off in SX. Always write him off outdoors"
My memory is that Sexton raced his ass off in 2023 MX (missed a couple rounds due to injury) in his final series on a Honda. He raced 8 rounds and finished 2nd overall in 6 of them. Of course he was no match for Jett that year. Nobody was.
last time he won the SX title, he took off the summer for the "Best Offseason Ever" then turned around and laid a turd the next season. More of the same if he wins this year/
People change
People can but I wouldn’t put money on Webb to come out blazing outdoors after this SX title. As soon as that check clears, his work is done until 2026.
Webb is an all timer in sx but I’m sorry he shouldnt even be in the same series as chase outdoors. It makes no sense cuz he ripped on the 250 outdoors, but for whatever reason it has never translated to the 450.
Pit Row
I think one of Coops biggest strengths is his front brake control. Watch him in sx he can really drive in hard the back wheel is almost floating. Outdoors kind of kills this advantage.
He does not have a lot of confidence outdoors anymore it seems. He was incredibly tentative at Nations 2024 in practice on Saturday. Pretty sure he was the last factory rider to clear all the jumps in practice. You could just see he was uncertain, and I don't blame him, a lot of those jumps at Matterly Basin were friggin booters. Also seems a general lack of interest in the outdoors too, and Star apparently is ok with that as long as supercross is solid?
I would even add J. Coop to that list.
But I will say Webb's effort at the MXoN was very commendable for someone that's not into MX.
There is no reason to expect Webb to bow up. But, I do.
I feel like we will get the "I didn't want to say anything during the season, but I have some hardware I am getting removed right after SLC" from Webb.
It was for sure. He got.into the flow and did pretty well I thought all things considered. Plus it sounds like he was instrumental in getting the team pulled together. Would have been a pretty disappointing to go all the way to England and not even have a team to support, lol. (We took one of my boys for his high school senior trip)
Webb will be 24-7 on the couch.
Webb will be indoors again this outdoors.
I've mentioned this in other crazy 'Webb outdoors' threads. If all the heavy hitters show up he'll be a tenth place guy.
Jett, Sexton, Tomac, Hunter, Prado, AP, Old Hombre, Ferrandis, JCoop.....then Webb. That's not even including Barcia, who ordinarily would smoke Webb outdoors, and then if you add Kenny in for the odd race...
Yes. He'll 'sprain' his wrist getting the Big Mac from the bag into his mouth, then ring up Star and say he's out for the season.
You are just not a funny guy
This is why I hate Steve's take on Webb vs. Roczen. Each have two titles, but Roczen has like 20 SX wins compared to Webb's one outdoors. Roczen has contended for both titles and Webb has never been a factor outdoors.
