Just got through this. Feel lucky, it wasn't worse. Wear the brace for a couple weeks, walk alot, 5-6 times a day. In 8 weeks start pt and do the exercises lightly. Yoga ect. Sleep and eat. In about 11 weeks you'll be killing it again. Im a framer for a living. And 55 yo.  Im back to work. I wore a catheter bag for 10 days to drain the blood. If you have that, life gets better upon removal. Be thankful.  Kick its ass. Dont take pain meds. Kill that shit. I took the time to learn some new recording software and mac.. I dont sit still very well. So tried to take the positive.  Your lucky and going to be good dude!

Just chiming in to agree about the pain killers. Use them as an absolute last resort. Heal up moto brother. I really hate hearing things like this.

Great addition to advice.

It’s tough to endure back pain, when they hand out pain killers that take it away. But getting hooked on them is easy to do and hard to shake off ! Lots of pill addictions, begin with a prescription for an injury.

Add me in for moto  brothers that lived large in our youth -- and relative youth -- and are now paying the price. Generally get up in the morning not because I'm well rested, but because it hurts too much to go lie back down. Tossing and turning from a junk right hip to a junk left shoulder, with plenty of damage in betwixt.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't trade the times I've had, the races I've won, the days with my boys at the track. Better to have lived large in the arena than to die a spectator, I reckon.

Best wishes for the best result.

Same boat.  My neck is screwed.  I'd rather not get surgery but where it's blown out is causing major nerve pain and weakness.

C4-7 is what they want to fuse on me. I can’t even feel my left index finger and thumb, complete numbness and major weakness in my grip.

Problem is that the discs between C3 & C4 and the discs between C7 & C8 are going to get worn out and then I’ll need another surgery to add more fusion.
Nah…. I’m gunna hold off till I can’t get through the day. I’ve gotten close several times over the years, but I may have to bite the bullet soon, I’ve been suffering pretty bad for a few months.

strengthening your core definitely helps a lot, but I’ve been in PT for 9 months straight, twice a week and I’m still in pain.

Almost exactly the same pard.

Three compression fractures on T6-8. This sucks.

With positive thinking, planning, and execution you will be in good shape to pickup your new child in 8 weeks.

As a commercial vessel master I say.

Plan the voyage

Sail the plan

This can apply to you as well

I’ve never had that serious of a injury but back pain due to doing stupid shit and at 59 yr old it’s sometimes just hurts to breath.I can’t imagine what this is like or the recovery.

The worst thing I’ve had is a burn.skin graph surgeries on various parts on my body.

Full left leg graph

Left palm skin regrow

Upper arm graph.

Left ear regrowth.

I grow long hair to cover it.

All the best to you and Plan the voyage to recovery and sail that plan of recovery

Paul

Heal up moto bro. Also, your wife and kids will be going though it too. We all underestimate how hard this is on our family too, I hope all of you bounce back. One day this will be just a bad memory

Crushing vertebra isn’t that uncommon People slip on Ice doing it.

When I did T4 and T5 they said X ray showed that I had done it before but I had no idea how or when that was.

I spent 6 months in a lace up brace and other than that making me sit straight up instead of being arched over in the attack position that was the worst of it.

Be patient.

Just curious, were you wearing a chest protector or any back protection? If so what brand?

Leatt GPX Adventure I believe. It has complete very rigid back protection

I snapped my femur about 2 years 4 months ago at 57. Two rods still in hip and femur. I had to have my wife wipe my ass for 2 days beginning on the 4th day. First 3 days I didn't shit, or it could've been worse.

I'm glad you're walking Lasse, and I hope you heal up soon. Have to be there for your child and the one coming soon. Best of everything.

Good news is that comp fractures frequently heal up on their own with no need for the knife. Especially if your cord is undamaged. My big off-track excursion ended up with 3 T compression fractures. The burst L2 was the scary one. That was a 12 hour surgery. They didn't touch the compression fractures. Every step is a blessing.

Had the same 20 years ago.  Little annoying for a while, all good now.  No surgery.  Good luck.

Heal up & be thankful you’ll make a full recovery.

I have a 5 month old (our first) & haven’t been on the bike since. I’m second guessing it for sure. Now that it’s spring, I’ll be interested if I keep riding.

Don't sweat it bro. Do your PT stay in shape and you'll make a full recovery. I've broken my back 3 times and im 49 now and have zero back issues. Stay in shape, stay moving and stay positive.....you'll be back to normal before you know it.
