He is 5th in points after moto 1, and It is a bit of a mystery to me how he is that far up. His results have declined in each race this year and he moves up in the point standings as other riders drop out and have problems.

Hangtown 2
Freestone 7
Hi Point 5
Budds 5
Lakewood 8
Red Bud 9
Millville 11
Washougal 11
Unadilla 14

Average overall finish is 8th place.

He definately looks better today. It has been hard to comprehend what he has been doing this season.
Most if not all of the guys in the top 10 in points have all had motos with no points of DNF's. To my knowledge Mike has made points in every moto this year.

Good results for M for sure. I'm happy for him. Smart to stay up and ride safe. I kind of feel his speed was not in pair with the top 3 guys, but because of he played it cool, his results was...

Consistency has been key. Even with all his issues he is 4th in points. I have to give it up to mike. He never gave up. Even when he was 13th. Just kept trying. Didn't pull off. Never called it a day. That says a lot. He has struggled this year no doubt but kept at it.

In order to podium, you must put yourself in position to podium.

Just like JG33 at A1 09, in order to win you must put yourself in a position to win.

not bad in the deep sands of southwick. hopefully this is a sign of some better results to come
It is sand, sand, and sand with some sand mixed in. And a couple conifer needles.

TV makes it look flat, too. It isn't.

It is not a place where you'd want to be 100cc down on the competition.
Nice show for the bike and the rider.

The part that wasn't luck was keeping the other ~36 bikes behind him.

That's funny. Two guys from Ohio and Wisconsin calling out a lack of sand at the wick. I live here and have been to every national at the wick since 76' and was there yesterday. The sand yesterday was deep and the whoops were gnarly deep also. Some of the braking bumps looked like water bars, it was nasty. Maybe it doesn't come across on TV but I watched from many different spots and it was rough and deep everywhere. No rest for a second on that track.

Also want to say thank goodness they are allowing the tracks to get rough and stay rough again. It's a mans sport again and it's so cool to see the men rise to the top.

You guys are hilarious. Where did I say it wasn't rough. It looked rough as hell. Are you honestly saying the sand is as deep as it was in the mid 90's? It doesn't look like it and the riders seem to be reinforcing this.

Bobby. There were some decent changes made to settings. Not everything he wanted. But getting closer. Check TA's facebook for more clues. When I heard the whole story I was dumbfounded. How do you not take feedback from your rider and do want they feel comfortable with and asking for?

Hoping this gives Mikey the extra boost of confidence he needs. If you noticed the front suspension didn't look like it belonged on a sx track like it used to. I still think it's too stiff.
I HEARD THE STORY TOO....bummer. Trust is the reason KTM is wary i suppose....not so much mike i suppose too

the bike mike is riding is not anything like AC's bike. that is a fact and whether you believe it or not doesn't change that fact

Bobby do you think then, that if we put Alessi on AC's bike (if that were allowed) that he would be winning?

I dont think Mike's problem is the bike, he pretty much was saying in the press conference that he kind of over trained and the harder he tried the worse things got and he was just burned out....he works hard and is a very determined racer so i would love to see him out there winning, but i can't put the blame solely on the bike like most people have been so eager to do..

Just like how suzuki was holding back parts from the alessis. Or how KTM wouldnt give mike good suspension for his 250f.

I don't know what the difference was wether it was watering or prep but the sand looked deeper than it has in many years.

Congrats to Mikey. 2nd overall is a huge turn around for him. He seemed so stoked on the podium and who can blame him. I can't remember the last time Mikey went this long between podiums.

So Bobby.. Are you going to claim they threw a 450 motor Woohoo in his bike this week? The bike seemed super fast in the sand. Hmmmm??

All I'm saying is that I raced there this year and it is all sand and nothing but sand. When is the last time you rode there?

Track prep is surely different from year to year.

Are you suggesting the sand is gone, or that something was added to the sand?

Or is your new TV better than being there?
