It's a "simple" fact - the more stuff there is, the more stuff there is to go wrong.

And it weighs more, and it costs more, …

Kawi will probably go the same route as KTM with all the bells and whistles. Can’t say they would be wrong, though I could see myself going the YZ250 route.

Exactly... and it snowballs from there.

I wish there was a more vocal market for a simple but effective design philosophy for offroad bikes, but things always seem to follow the 4T mxer, quad and sit-down jet ski path: make it easier to ride (read: require less skill to operate) with more creature comforts and people gravitate toward it. Weight, complexity and cost are typically the casualties in that scenario.

It would just be nice to have more affordable choices in the market, like the original KDX, ITs, PEs, etc. The truth is, most people aren't capable of coming close to using, much less exceeding the performance a "dinosaur" YZ currently offers.

I'm torn between simplicity, and new features. Having FI and starter require a whole mess of wires and a battery.  After fighting an issue with a battery, I gained a re-appreciation for simplicity. A carb works just fine, and kicking a 2t is not an issue. I was wishing I could kick my 350 SXF...

I have a non-firing 300SX currently and wished I had instead jumped on the last deep discounted carb'd GG MC250 smoker. I rode a stock one recently and it was as light as my 200SX. Didn't feel all that different in power and handling from the 300SX...to me at least. 'Spensin was fine for local track too. Defo superior bike to a buddies '24 YZ250.

This was my first brand new bike. I bought this '96 KX125 and a '95 KX80 leftover for the wife. Both for $5000 OTD with a case of Kawasaki pre-mix oil thrown in. I'd love to see KX two strokes available again.

Or at least what the damn bike is gonna be. I was so excited when the teaser came out. Now I’m just absolutely annoyed and fed up. I’d have more respect if they’d just give some actual info on the bike and say “but we don’t expect it to be available til such date”

I would have bought a Kawi 250 or 300 in a heartbeat. Even if it wasn’t going to be available for another year or whatever I would have been putting a down payment down as soon as allowed. But with the way they’ve handled this whole “release” I highly doubt I’ll wait and buy one. I’ll probably just go buy a beta RE and forget about the Kawi. I don’t think they realize how much damage they’re doing by pissing actual customers off like this. Not dorks who sit behind a keyboard and complain about everything. Actual customers who buy actual dirt bikes every 1-2 years. Me personally, I’ll probably give them til the end of May to release some actual information. If that doesn’t happen then I’m gonna go buy a Beta.

I'm just as excited as the next guy about Kawasaki's upcoming two stroke releases, but man, the level of impatience is crazy. Should Kawasaki release some more details? Absolutely, they've dropped the ball big time there. Will we know more soon? In due time. Don't get your panties in a bunch lads! 😆

Some of us want to buy a new bike… I want a new 300. If it’s going to be a 300 or possibly a 250 enduro bike similar to the KTM 300 xc lineup then I would wait for a Kawi. But if it’s going to be a bike I’m not interested in (such as a 125) or a MX model then I would already have a new beta sitting in my garage. Like I said, if it’s a bike I’m interested in then I have no issues waiting to buy one. But it’s gonna really suck for a guy like me who would buy a new bike right now, is waiting to see what Kawi is planning on doing, then it ends up being something I didn’t want to begin with. Just telling us what it’s going to be and what their plans are would go a really long way with a lot of us potential customers.

Put AC on it and let her rip.

Would be cool, but that's not happening.

New model announcements are typically just before Lorettas so there is that.

Odds are it will first be seen live at Team Green booth at Lorettas.

I personally find companies that do this “teaser” marketing strategy annoying. If you are going to build it just announce it when it is ready. Don’t waste people’s time. It’s lame to do so imo.

I will say in my experience it’s rare to find someone that’s good at marketing. Steve Jobs was great at it. He was also smart enough not to come out and say “maybe we build a phone”…. He just did it and showed it. Hyped it when he did show it…. But didn’t tease months before showing it. Just do it for gods sakes.

Kawasaki just took that approach with their new category of vehicle the new NAV. No one, not even the Kawasaki sales force new about the NAV until about 30 days before the Global launch in February.  Right after that event dealers were able to order and they are now on showroom floors. They started working on the NAV project in 2021.

They are not creating a new category with the 2 stroke. It's a total different marketing plan obviously.

I know it's frustrating for some of you, but with the 2 stroke it's going to be worth the wait. It's been close to 20 years since they offered an adult sized 2 stroke. A few more months is just a blip of the throttle. It will be here before you know it.

But what is “it.” Most of us aren’t complaining about them taking their time developing the bike. We’re annoyed because we don’t even know what it is. We’re waiting for a smidge of information because lots of us are in the market for a new bike. We’re waiting for an announcement of what it actually is, and it may not even be what some of us are in the market for. For me personally, if it’s a 125 I won’t want to buy it. If it’s a 250/300 I probably will because that’s what I’m in the market for. If they just come out and say it’s gonna be a 125 MX bike then great, I’ll be happy for those who want that bike and I’ll be excited to ride one but I won’t want to buy it. If they come out and say it’s gonna be a 250/300, then I have absolutely no problem waiting another year to buy a bike. I’ll wait for it and be excited for it. Some of us are just waiting in limbo on what to do. I planned on having a new 300 late winter/early spring but have put that on hold waiting to see what Kawi was going to do.

Apple annually announces when the next products will roll out- months in advance. They seem to thrive on all the speculation and gossip about exactly what will be unveiled with what features, etc. Fine for electronics- but new bikes? not so much.

if your timeframe for new bike is a year- why not buy 1 of the great choices already available now instead of denying yourself the riding fun all that time? If it turns out the Kawi is something you wanted, trade/sell the placeholder bike for the new Kawi. If it's not a model you wanted no massive disappointment you wasted a year waiting on it. Not dirtbike specific, but that's approach I took buying a new small truck couple years ago. Bought a new 2022 Ford Maverick from local dealer when they 1st came out (Knowing I really wanted a new Ranger in extended cab + long bed config) and sales guy said they would gladly take it back in trade for new Ranger if I wanted. I ordered the Ranger and after a year waiting it was clear they only offered Crew cab + short bed I didn't want so cancelled the order and went and bought Frontier King cab instead. Same Ford dealer bought back the Maverick for just a couple hundred $ less than I paid so it worked out great overall. My 2 cents...
