What's the point of paying ridiculous sum of money for a bike you can't ride because it's value would drop instantly after the first ride?

I predict nobody pays anywhere near $50K. Just cause it's a five hundo? FOH. I don't hate the game to try and get that much for it. I don't think it that's valuable to anyone though

I'm fully aware of that but it's still ridiculous!

You could build a bike that looks brand new and put it in the crate for a lot less money  han that. It wouldn't even need all the internal parts of the engine and transmission because it newer gets started...

I wouldn’t pay it either but theres people that will , the fact  is you probably won’t get a motocross bike as rare , I reckon it could push 80k

Can you see the bids? How does eBay work, can you bid under what he's asking? I'll be blown away if there are that many people with $50K for a bike. And what do you do with it? Ride it right? You can find absolutely MINT 500's for $10K. So what it's new. Until you ride it once

50K is insane. Not worth it by a long shot.

eBay is rubbing their hands over the fees they’ll get on that sale!

I don’t understand. If I can’t ride it I don’t even want to make the space to store it. You couldn’t give me a bike I can’t ride.

The 500,s bring in the big money . I hv no idea why .  They where boring to watch at the nationals the crowd was jacked to see the 125,s race . The 125 class is still huge & exciting . But if u list a clean 125 for 15 k people go nuts. Everyone forgot what bike drove the rare new bike prices up.  A new 07cr125 sold for 12,500 on mecum. .  A guy in Wi. Builds 700cc for This guy.

If you die and you owned an unridden CR500, you lose.

From his video it seems like he thinks its worth a few hundred thousand. He brings up a new atc250 that recently sold. Items like this bring in tons of bids from fake buyers. It may be bid up to 150k by a fake buyer and listed as sold but didn't actually sell. That's the problem with items like this from popular sellers. Wouldn't be shocked if it was re listed multiple times due to non paying bidders. There's also multiple guys out there that will actually pay big money for these.  They just have millions burning a hole in their pocket. I see banshees and 250rs bringing stupid prices all the time from those buyers.

Correct.  But, in the case of the ATC, it was actually sold for 200k in a private sale, not Ebay.  For whatever comparison that's worth......

I didn't know just what kaplan was saying. Was it the auction travis from D&A did in New York this feb?  I'd say private sale and ebay are close. Ebay should bring more with a bigger audience but it also brings more headaches and fees. I did this for another income about 10 years ago for almost 5 years. If I had something that was a hard sale private and local I could move it on ebay fast for a higher amount. The only downside was fees. But it would always work out to me getting what I wanted locally or even more.

lol insiders bid up the price for the seller for a fee 🤷‍♂️. Only nerds fall for the ebay bidder scam these days.

Think again. Current high bid is $55,655.00

Yes, that was the sale through D&A.

Gotcha. I still follow this market and all the players. He'll have non paying bidders give him issues bidding it up but he'll easily get over 50k for it all said and done.

Is a 2001 CR any good? Some old bike models we should just say good riddance when the last one is gone.

They claim "New in Crate" but where is the rest of the crate?  If I am paying stupid money for the rarity that it has "never been out of the box", well, the box better, no kidding, be completely there.  That is a large part of the allure and value.
