Just goes to show how absolutely ridiculous it is that the console games keep pushing out these games with such trash physics over and over and over and over. Its not rocket science, people just want it to look natural not some super jerky arcade physics where the bike gets stuck in molasses when in the air. They showed they were testing it on a console controller… and what do you know it looked natural. Cant wait to see how this game shakes out.
-Side note does anyone know why the sound is just sooooo hard to get right? Even the games with incredible physics have the weirdest crappiest computer animated engine sounds for some reason and somehow it has never progressed since the old days. Is it that hard? Or do they just not focus on the sound and focus on all the other stuff?
Heres a lap around MTF where the real sound from deegans gopro is overlaid onto a lap on mx sim. The sound makes it look 100% more realistic and immersive. You wouldnt think it, but the sound actually makes it look more realistic. Somehow the sound makes the graphics look better which sounds crazy.
Yes! I was always complaining about the sound. I can understand that physics is not something you can really change so easily and it takes time and iterations. However, sound is definitely something that can be easily changed.
This video just shows how much more the game is realistic with better sound!
The sounds aren't final, this is a stripped alpha because they want focused feedback on the bike physics alone. Also, physics-wise the rider will add a whole new component, notice the right stick isn't being touched. When the rider is added it will introduce the rider lean element. Anyone who plays mx bikes will know what I mean
Here's a thought, maybe get a side hobby and learn and ounce of game development and see what you can do yourself? Big AAA studios aren't making these games...

This is often what I tell people when they complain about games. Try making one, its hard enough to make a sprite move smoothly across the screen. Now try to tell a computer how to play and "feel" like a dirt bike. It makes calculus and differential equations look like ABCs.
To many injuries, it's the future of supercross.
I'm a big video game guy, but haven't been following this too closely, more just waiting for it to be released.
Will there be track deformation? I loved that aspect of Reflex.
It doesn't even look realistic. It looks silly.
I know this new game is still in development. But MX Bikes is King right now. By far the best physics/sound I've ever played on a moto game. MX Bikes just needs a Track Editor and its perfect. I see little reason to make this new game for consoles.
MX Bikes leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to riding and racing. It’s why MX Sim is still the leader there. Bikes is fun and looks/sounds better than sim but it’s still clunky as fuck. This already looks better than MX bikes physics wise IMO.
I never ripped on the smaller studios I was praising this game as having good physics. I was just asking why the sound part is so hard to get right. The smaller studios are the ones putting out the good stuff like mxsim, mxbikes, and now mtg. The big studios like thq are the ones putting out the games with shitty physics every year.
As far as it being so hard to get the “feel” the big studios already had it down pretty good all the way up to about mx vs atv reflex. Since around then its been shit. Ppl are asking for better physics because they already had it in the past. Now you have small budget studios and fans making better stuff than the big studios so it makes them look even worse when they keep failing to deliver year after year. A huge studio should be able to do at least as good as the smaller ones putting out mxsim, mx bikes, mtg, but theyre not.
“You should do it yourself then” its not my job, its their job. I’m good at my job. We listen to our customers and do our best to fix any issues that arise with our products. They keep trying to push out the same crap that gets the same complaints every year. As a consumer I can choose not to buy their shit anymore and complain about it when its bad. Luckily ppl like the guys making mtg are stepping up and filling the void left since the big console mx game devs have dropped the ball.
looked good
I want more gravity.
looks the bikes flyes away little too easy. and makes the jumps
It looks great. I like how the developer made a good compromise between actual physics speed and arcade playability. (In most video games, it doesn't look fast unless the bike is going the equivalent of 200 MPH. Real, actual track speeds look slow.)
It's a simple job description, but execution is very difficult.
Extremely stoked with what I'm seeing here, and again, this is with the left stick (bike stick) only - add in the rider movement stick physics, going to be awesome.
I've never seen a game that captures the challenges of braking, braking bumps and ruts. If there has been, would love to see it.
MX Bikes or MX simulator
I don’t play either game, but I do watch others on YouTube
No game has braking bumps figured out at all
Pit Row
I'm old school. For me and my buddies, there is no better racing than split screen MX vs ATV...
Couple of beverages, buddies, pizza and Mx Unleashed make for a great Friday evening!
I think the biggest takeaway for MTG is that now console players will finally have something new that can compare to the great games PC players have been spoiled to have for the last 15 years (can't believe Sim was released in 2008). Big props to the dev team for their work, preparation and planning! Excited to have a game to enjoy with buddies whether they have a PC or not.
"I don’t play either game, but I do watch others on YouTube"
Hello,
Guy who actually plays MX bikes here. The breaking bumps are great in MXB. It also depends on the track you're at.
Got a clip you can share?
On the downhill you can see the braking bumps and you can see the movement in the bike. It feels harder when you're not good like me playing it. These guys are the best, so it looks like it would if CHase or Jett hit those braking bumps
STILL REDPLATE MILLVILLE! - ARL Nationals Round 7 - YouTube
This. I am telling you, do not be misled by what the streamers make the game look like. Braking bumps are insane. I play MX Bikes, it is the closest to riding I have ever felt. Everytime I am pushing, I am holding on like I was on the bike indeed!
Yeah that looks pretty accurate in some places for Millville, like big sand rollers entering the turn. But the dude is flying all over the track like they don't mean much. That onboard view looks like he is going 120 mph, lol.
When I watch on board footage of an actual pro. it looks like they are doing 120 to me too lol, but it does not look that way when I play because I am not mach speed fast. If you have the patience to learn MXB, it's honestly the best game made. It took me years to finally pull the trigger on a PC and I am glad I did.
Right on man. It doesn't take much of a PC to run that game does it?
Nope. I have no problem running it on an old laptop with a 5th gen i3 and onboard graphics. Just have to turn some settings down. It ain’t perfect but it works for when I’m not home playing on my PC.
Lynds is also a freak when it comes to MX Bikes. Same with ReaperDoc, Cam and Troyjann. Troy runs a higher FOV which also makes the game look like you’re going ten times faster than you really are. FOV really plays a huge part in that.
