Been playing it for about an hour now, So far it is another huge disappointment. Basic old looking menus. Slowest turning bike in any SX game ever made. Bike physics are the worst of all preceeding games. Floaty handling. Throttle does this weired hesitation. Bike sounds are horrible. Track editor has been stripped down and very Basic.
Save your money. Play Reflex on steam or MES6.
That sure is disappointing. Especially since dropped what, I think 90 bucks on it. Regardless I will be giving it a shot on xbox if any of yall want to do some clean racing. I miss those reflex and mx online tournaments. Those was a blast
Quit giving them your money
That is a shame. These games need a major overhaul. I guess there is some hope still that it can be patched/updated to fix some of the physics, but pretty unlikely. It's crazy how these games can't get the feel of the bike correct. They never feel connected to the ground, the AI is always in a big cluster and when you get touched you float around. Just so odd. And while I know it's hard to replicate, the ruts aspect is always so far off too.
The current MX vs ATV with all of the updates and DLC is still pretty decent. I have at least felt like I have gotten my money's worth on that, even after spending more on some DLC. But I am not buying another SX, MXGP or MX vs ATV until some major improvements come about. I've been stuck in the same rut with NHL games. It's the same game over and over with no improvements, and there is plenty to improve.
Agreed, they should start giving refunds. I can believe I just spent another $100 just to go back to reflex. I’d pay $300 for another reflex with updated tracks and guys I’m not even joking.

With MX Bikes out there, I’m having problems understanding why anyone would play anything but MX Bikes. I was a die hard mxgp gamer but they haven’t done anything with that game in years, I tried the sx games up until 5 I think and they fucking suck balls compared to mx bikes. You do have to put the time in but man once you get the hang of it there is no turning back.
MX Bikes isn't available on console.
Mx vs atv reflex really was the pinnacle of Mx games. It’s been all downhill since then
Watched SYS's video last night where he begins the career mode. It's confusing to see games regress and continually get worse from the consumer's perspective. Kellen threw in a tidbit that MTG's using the same game engine and have produced something in 8 months that is miles better than SX25... I used to be a proponent to spending the money despite the lackluster gameplay to show companies there's benefit in developing a good MX game in hopes that we'd start getting great games. But with the surprisingly long downward trend in game quality, I can't justify that theory any longer... Hoping MTG is the answer console players have needed for a long time. Till then, I'll stick to sim, mxb and Reflex on PC.
Edit: physics engine corrected to game engine
Same game engine, not physics. Meaning they’re using the same platform to build their game on but their coding/bike physics are completely different.
Let’s be honest. This is the world we live in today. Lackluster quality for top dollar. It’s not just MX games, almost all games now come out unpolished that require updates and paid DLC to be complete. Aside from a handful of AAA titles, game releases and reception has not been good. I’ll stick to MxBikes even though it has its own issues.
Understood. Would it be safe to assume they've been "updating" the same base physics build/code for many years as games come out? With all the negative feedback, I'm sure they've weighed the pros and cons of completely starting over. Those would be difficult meetings to be a part of.
Stale, Boring...
Weege talks with Michele Caletti to ask about the improvements in the game

I’ve put a few hours on it and I’m blown away with how bad it is.
I’m going to buy it and try it out because I pretty much buy every motocross game but this isn’t sounding good. I was hopeful because I’ve actually enjoyed several of the milestone Supercross games.
I want MX games like SX25 to succeed, but after watching the gameplay, it’s a pass. I’m not paying for a poor product anymore when they have had many chances to correct it or make significant improvements.
It starts out horrible no doubt. But after a little bit of time and you figure the handling out it's actually pretty good. It's not mx bikes but I really don't get why people keep comparing the 2. Ones an arcade style and ones a sim. And PC isn't really comparable to console. Biggest thing is handling. It's opposite from other supercross games. Have to lean opposite way your steering when cornering, like weighing the outside peg in real life. And you have to progressively make handling, acceleration, speed and braking better through the career with "bike development". At first I was saying the same as everyone else. But after I actually spent the time and figured it out and upgraded the bike I really like it. Sure it's not perfect, and I don't think a game from milestone ever will be.
Also almost all the gameplay reviews are in 3rd person which imo makes the game look awful. I cant even play it in that view. FPV makes it so much better. And it seems way better in fpv with googles on for some reason. Like it's faster.
HEY SUPERCROSS THE GAME please read this!!
So, they have already made a few updates. And it is "kinda" better. But after over 30 hours on it and in the editor.
Good things:
1). Tuff Blocks are fixed in terms of behavior. You can bash through them! And they are on the track and not sliding off like MES6.
2). Insta-Whip is gone
3). You can now whip the bike around in a turn using the rear brake (and opposite stick which is actually a step backward just don't need it)
4). Accelerating is more realistic feeling like a 450 should. Feels funner. Yes funner.
5). Negotiating the track obstacles is less "aggressive" I guess is the word I am looking for? In other words racing is very rhythm & timing dependent so clearing huge quads and stuff is definitely more challenging which I tend to like.
6). Crashing during battles with friends and drones feels more realistic to me
Bad things: Game play
1). Air time is floaty. After you leave the lip the bike kinda floats too far forward like it has wings, and then lands weirdly slow?
2). Can't use half the numbers as they are "taken" by pro riders. This is lame. Open up all numbers who cares already.
3). I know they updated this but when you turn your view should not pan right or left. If you are using the behind the rider view point.
4). The bike feels just a tad too light when riding around the tracks at speed. Just needs to be a smidge heavier.
Good things: Track editor
1). The dirt looks pretty good
2). A few new objects that we have needed but never had like the table step up and a real stopie wall. There work great
Bad things Track Editor:
Ahhh, where do I start? Ok look this editor is like going back to the 90's games. Here's why.
1). Obstacles are hard to see as you lay them out not enough definition.
2). There are no specs on the obstacles as you select them so we have no clue what is what in terms of size etc.
3). You can't reverse ANYTHING.
4). There are only a two types of turns. No bowl turns, no elevated corner turns, no inside bump turns, This is really sad.
5). You can not click the cursor around the track to make changes at all now. So you have to delete what you have created in order to go back and fix one small thing. You should be able to lay out the entire track and make changes if the obstacles fit in that respected are as well as click from the end across to the beginning.
6). The very minimal amount of SX objects.
7). No dirt on top of the over/under
8). Only 2 finish lines
9). Bringing the layout back across the start is now less allowable. You get red outlines. This should be wide open. lay it at any angle.
10). Only 1 stadium size. There needs to be a small that will allow a typical 7/8 lane SX track fitting just inside for realism. This was not possible in MES6. The small stadium in that game only allows about 4.5 lanes. And there needs to be a larger one. But only one?
11). Why does the test rider in the editor get reduced to 28 mph? This only frustrates the crap out of the player.
12). Why no right handed and bermed start banks?
13). The over under is too picky about being placed. Some times no matter what you do it will not allow it to be placed
For now I hope they read this and go the right direction.
Pit Row
I've been watching some more play on YT and I have seen a few people say that after learning a bit on how to use the controls + upgrades, the game feels better, overall. So that is encouraging. But it still feels like the bikes in the air needs some work and the AI. The counter steering seems interesting but it sounds like you use the stick in opposite to weight outside peg but if the bike lifts off of the ground while doing this, then the "air controls" take over and that will cause you to crash. So that is unfortunate and maybe that'll get figured out.
There hasn't been a real good one since MX vs ATV unleashed. Real bikes, real riders, real gear, good physics and good music not horrible euro techno type crap. Make MX Games Great Again!
I want to see these and the MX vs ATV games succeed so bad. I just don’t understand how we continue to get absolute crap from legit studios but have games like MX Sim and MX Bikes from individuals. It’s actually insane. There’s no way the Devs of SX and MX vs ATV don’t know about Sim and Bikes and still think the games they are putting out are even somewhat decent.
As I did with the last few SX games, I’ll wait until the sale on Steam when it drops to $4.99 like the last 3 games did.
I tried playing this game a bit more, holy shit it sucks. Went back to MES6 and I've never appreciated that game more, they took massive leaps backward on this new game.
MES25 is a complete dud of a game. Save your money and time, clearly they don't give a shit.
Almost 10 years apart and the original game almost looks better than the newest game?
Yep. I brought this thread to the top in hopes that if someone was on the fence, they will see our feedback and save their hard-earned money.
Yeah save your money. I bought it on the Xbox so I could kick back in my recliner and play on my big screen. Wish I had waited and bought for the PC on Steam. I could then get a refund from Steam. Xbox will not refund anything. It is amazing that on the seventh try the game is as bad as it is. I doubt it will ever be patched enough to be a decent game.
I dont understand how they cant get it right. The ONE thing they fail to realize is that the gameplay is king. Nobody cares about having all of the current riders, super top tier graphics, real tracks, real announcers… if the physics suck. All of that stuff makes a good game better, but will not make a shit game become good. Physics, physics, physics, gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. PERIOD.
They need to hunker down and really get the physics right, put all of their resources into getting it right. Get. It. Right. Then once they have it down it will pay dividends in the long run because theyll have a game people actually want that they can sell for a long time and keep updating year after year. After they get the physics down then in later versions they can worry about amazing graphics, or terrain deformation, or real tracks, real brands, real riders.
Blows my mind how after reflex it all went to shit for the console games and they just cant figure it out no matter what. Now you have some random low buget studio putting out motocross the game and it already looks a million times better than the big budget studios. It just shows that it can be done. Stop making excuses, stop worrying about all of the extra crap, and get the physics right…
When I was a kid it was Excite Bike on Nintendo. We never complained. I feel lucky experiencing the golden years of video games. Anyone who doesn’t understand what I’m talking about… well, just doesn’t understand. Would’ve had to been there.
How does it compare to a 98 sx play station 1 game ? I hv both if your interested . I,m on the rd for a month
Im an MX Simulator diehard, so i am biased here, but I haven't found any game since 2009 that got me excited to play. Just break out the PS2 with MX vs ATV unleashed if you aren't looking for something realistic. Otherwise MX Sim is your best bet. I'm sure MX Bikes is alright, but I wasn't impressed with my first (and only) impression.
