It is an interesting question to ask. He missed most of outdoors last year, but when he came back to SMX and MXDN clearly the time off was no issue. While we had him, he wasnt the same level of dominance in supercross that we're used to seeing. But of course, he wasnt quite yet comfortable.
My guess is that he will still be hands down the best. But there is only so much time you can miss before the competition sloses the gap.
I think the big thing will be is the 25 Honda better than it was in January. But yes I think Jett comes back and slots right back in at the top
Jett maintains the edge.
Jett is edging? What?
That was a big gap. It will be smaller now, but Jett is still the odds-on favorite in my book.

The 25 Honda was great outdoors, SX was the issue. I think he'll be just fine at the front. Although I hope Chase and Eli can give him one hell of a fight.
Jett's edge don't mean shit if he can't stay healthy for a full series.
Where have I seen this scenario unfold before? Hmmm let me think?
Chase HAS to be throwing all his mental and physical efforts at SX right now, to try and get that championship wrapped up.
Whilst Jett will be 100% focused on outdoors.
For this reason alone, I think Jett has the edge going outdoors this summer.
Webb will be burned out come Outddors. No threat to those two.
Isn't Jett still mending? Not sure how he can get a head start.
The gap to Sexton will be closed with Jett being off the bike for so long.
Webb not so much, he hasn’t ever really been a serious championship contender outdoors on a 450.
Remember last year when Chase won outdoors and people here were yapping about how he hit a new high and how Jett will have a tough time beating him again? We know what happened when he came back for SMX. I feel like the only real enemy to Jett.. will be Jett.
Really interested though where Prado slots in between Jett, Chase & Tomac. It sucks sooo much that Jett, Prado & Tomac all come in with limited or basically no real seat time, why can't the moto gods give us at least one outdoor season with everyone at 100%? 😭
The racing isn’t what it should be without three of the top guys.
Are Tomac and both Lawrences planning to race the first outdoors event?
Tomacs plan was to be back for the last few SX rounds already.
Someone in another thread said that Jett confirmed at Motogp that he will be back on the bike next week. (which is completely mindblowing in my opinion)
I read a vurbmoto interview and apparently Hunter will be back for the first round aswell.
Prado confirmed in a swapmoto interview that he will be ready for round 1.
Jett’s faster
On the Jaxxon blog, he said he'd probably start slow and race his way back.
And that Hunter has the better chance to hit the ground running right away.
That being said, he came off of his thumb injury last year, and kicked ass.
Webb, who is one of my three favorites, is a bit of an unknown when it comes to open class pro moto.
But... he seems to be very comfortable on his bike these days.
Chase... ???
That's a crapshoot.
Tough question to answer.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
BTW, aren't we forgetting someone ???
Chase... ???
That's a crapshoot.
Yeah - The first race: He could lap up to third place, or tuck the front, twice….
BTW, aren't we forgetting someone ???
I’d forgotten about Prado.
Didn’t Chase win round 2?
I didn’t mean to imply that the three top guys were missing. Three of the top guys.
Sexton is absolutely one of the top guys. As is Web.
Anderson and maybe Barcia could win races.
Roczen has the speed, but that shoulder, and lack of endurance in SX makes outdoor victory unlikely in my mind. Is he racing MX?

I quoted the wrong post my bad I’m a moran
If you mean outdoors, I don't know why you have Webb mentioned. He is no threat whatsoever in the 450 class outdoors. Yes, I know he won a 250 outdoors title and beat Herlings once - also on a 250. There is also the question of whether he even shows up, or finishes the whole series.
He's a tenth place guy outdoors this year - provided everyone else stays healthy.
Jett, Eli, Sexton, Prado, AP, J-Coop, Hunter, Ferrandis, Anderson....then Webb.
You mean 'he's never been a serious championship contender outdoors on a 450'.
Please, can someone please please provide any evidence at all for why they're picking Cooper 'one win in nine seasons outdoors' Webb as a championship contender or favourite in 450MX? He's an excellent SX rider but has done nothing of note outdoors in the 450 class. I assume your other two favourites are Jett and Eli, which means you're leaving out the 2 x MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado.
See all my posts about the insanity of picking Cooper Webb as an 450 MX favourite. I would put Ken Roczen - a rider who almost completed a perfect season outdoors - as vastly ahead of Webb outdoors. Jason Anderson is also better than Webb outdoors, as is Barcia (when he's actually riding well).
I think Jett will be fine
Since des Nations, Jett has been beat by Gasjer, Webb, Tomac, and Sexton. He hasn't completed a season since joining the 450 class. No doubt he was/is the fastest rider on the planet right now, when healthy, but he is beatable.
"He hasn't completed a season since joining the 450 class."
It's funny being a fan since the sport began, when I think of dominant riders eras, Hannah, McGrath, RC, Jett's "dominance" doesn't seem as complete or intimidating. Especially considering much of his competition is nearing 30 or over, a time or age that used to be over the hill.
I wonder how Sexton will cope with being 4th fastest?
Yeah do we know if he's even going to be ready for the season opener this summer? If he is, it won't be will much prep time
