Cunningham was really good. Matt Lemoine was solid from that era
About time the proper generation is mentioned!
How about Arlo Englund. I was on the track at the same time on occasion.

As I recall Glen Taylor was from NY and raced D7 while attending the University of Maryland. Glen did go Pro saw him at Broomtioga in 86 or 87. I was at Red Bud amateur national and if Glens bike had started after he fell down no one could touch him. Hicks had nothing for him.
Another one I left out was Mike Twigg.
What in the actual f***?

Scott Summers isn’t a Moto guy but he’s someone every moto guy should respect. He did more with an XR than most do with a modern 450. Steve Lamson is well known but I don’t feel like he gets the credit he deserves. That guy hauled ass on a 125.
Bader Manneh
Justin Keeney
Cas Swift
Trent Pugmire
Kyle Partridge
Michael Young
Tye Hames
Who could forget Carl...
Brandon Ray.
Cool to see someone mention Trent Pugmire and Tye Hames in here.
Jimmy Nelson and Jonathan Finch were good mini riders that never put it together in the pro ranks. I actually saw Jonathan Finch around 15 years ago at I5 and I can't remember if he broke both of his femurs at the same time or broke his femur then broke it again but either way he said he never got back to 100% and that was the end of it for him. That reminds me.. Matt Boni had to retire after some femur injuries, too.

There are so many more greats out there....
That's so awesome, I love hearing stories like this. A lot of riders seem larger than life, neat to see a more personal side. I appreciate the comment!
Jeff Glass had that Surf CR250 that was on Kaplan Cycles, very neat bike. Didn't Bryan Manley also do FMX? I hope I'm thinking of the right guy.
Heath Voss - 2004 Supercross World Champion ☝️
Just now watched a video of Borkenhagen at Glen Helen, it's a Racer X film. No matter the rider, I find it mesmerizing watching the pros carve lines into turns.
I don't know if Bryan Manley tried FMX...I doubt it as Bryan was popular long before FMX started. I may be wrong though.
Keeny damn near won a heat race at Anaheim 05-06ish as a privateer….
Pugmire just never seemed to be able to put it together on the big stage, but as an amateur (specifically 65/85), that dude smoked a LOT of future SX&MX champions.
Just realized I'm thinking of Brian Manley, different guy, virtually the same name LOL. He was in Crusty Demons, someone online mentioned he broke his back or something?
My memory is a little foggy but I do recall, it think it was, Jason Upshaw losing control down the peristile at the LA Coliseum (1984/85?). He lost control and ended up doing a full front flip off a jump at the bottom....first front flip ever....by default and the landing was ugly...very ugly. Came down straight on his coccyx.
Yes Sir...a few guys with similar names back then.

Yes, Manley was in crusty riding the kx250 chopper.
