Companies Who Support Our Sport

When it comes to buying a bike, gear, accessories and parts..who do you see putting a ton of effort and money back into our sport?  Do you consider spending more money on certain brands because they’ve given back in inspiring ways?

I always admired how much Kawasaki gave back to amateurs and created a platform for them.

The way KTM sponsors events and creates niche ideas for very specific wants.

I don’t drink energy drinks but I’d buy a red bull for all the times they’ve dished out life changing money for riders and events in our sport.

On the flip side, I see a company like Suzuki doing less than the bare minimum and would frankly spend 30% more happily to give the money to a company investing back in us.

Who do you see backing us and want to back?

For me it's more of outside sponsors.  When I see one of them involved and it's between them or someone else I will support them.

Monster. I don’t drink the stuff and wouldn’t advise anyone else to but they are clearly one of the biggest supporters of our sport and have been for a long time now. And what’s shitty is it’s pretty common for fans to complain about and talk down on the company which I’ve always found bizarre.

Always buy from sponsors that support our sport. It’s what keeps the sport going.

I go out of my way to support those sponsors the sport.

Definitely don't spend your money on anything made by Sierra Nevada brewing, they donate to the Sierra Club.

Makita. I chose Makita power tools because it is a good quality brand that invested in Moto.

I'm am still building up my collection of Makita battery tools. If they had not supported Moto I may have ended up with another brand.

Yes, this is the otherside. Actively go against supporting any company that supports groups that are detrimental to off-road MC riding.

Enduro Engineering is awesome for off-road stuff.

Noted. Camelbak is another. Go with USWE instead for all your hydration pack needs!

Camelback is owned by Vista Outdoors, the same company that owns Bell helmets and Fox Racing. Best not buy from them either.

The only grease that I will buy is Lucas Red N Tacky. I'm not a energy drink fan but will have a sugar free Monster on occasion. I also will buy Peak when available

Bell Helmets and Fox owned by a company trying to shut down off road riding? Is this hearsay or is there a direct line between the two?

I simply stated that Vista Outdoors owned Camelbak and Bell and Fox Racing.

But I guess you could draw a conclusion that if they own Camelbak and Camelbak donated to the Sierra Club then yes they are.

I grew up a huge Matt Kenseth (NASCAR) fan and that’s why I buy Dewalt everything for battery powered tools to this day.

Rocky Mountain and Pro Circuit are two companies that have earned my business for life. Between putting $ into the sport and going out of their way to help an average Joe like me, there’s no one else I’d rather give my money to. Plus, RMATV helps maintain local riding areas and run the “Race Gas” program at tons of local events. Hard to beat that.

No i understand I was just asking for clarification because I didn’t realize the conglomerate owned all 3.  I’ve heard that about camelback for years but the bell and fox correlation I hadn’t

Interesting comment about Suzuki as they sponsor the hole shots and have large as presence at the races (which cost them money).
They also put on the rmarmy bootcamps and ride days which nobody else does. Good contingency as well. I don’t understand why the entire company is catching strays over bike updates.

On the other hand, progressive has gained all of my insurance needs this year for their investment into the sport.

I'm a nobody with no clue, but sponsorship always baffled me. For what most professional sports want from sponsors (free product/money) I never imaged they make the ROI back. I figured most did it for tax breaks and because someone higher up was a fan of the sport and chose to be a sponsor.

Vista has been on a huge buying spree, they have bought multiple outdoor and sport businesses in the last 5 years.

It looks like Vista Outdoor no longer exists.  It recently divested its brands.  In January, the outdoor brands (including Fox, Bell and Camelbak) were sold to a company called Revelyst.  https://www.revelyst.com/

You sound like a man who knows how to make a million dollars by racing. (Start with 3 million.)

SLR Rifleworks and Proven DIesel. SLR's handguards for AR-15s are excellent (I only have one, but it has been great) and I haven't had any problems with my Proven Diesel tunes.

I should back up a little, since I didn't know that Camelbak had been purchased. It's been a long time since I learned that they were Sierra Club donators. That may have changed, given the ownership. (Then again, the parent company may not even care.)

To further my retraction, check out this article from the Sierra Club which actually lambasts Vista Outdoors for being pro-2A:
https://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/don-t-want-your-outdoor-recreation-dollars-go-to-vista-outdoors-and-gun-manufacturers

Maybe Camelbak and the Sierra Club aren't such good friends anymore.

Same here, my first contractors set lasted 20 years and even then I only replaced it because we got a “free” set through our suppliers rewards program

FocusX gear. Probaly not a name you guys are familiar with but their owner uses 100% of the profits of the company to reinvest into his racetrack and local race series. Not that the big name gear companies don't contribute, but that is supporting the sport at the core. There is a lot of "grow the sport" being thrown around but I feel like this is where it really needs to start.

Full disclosure: The owner is a good friend of mine and I also donate my time at the race track. I just want to point this out.

I wonder if that's why Vista sold their outdoor brands to a different ownership group than it sold its ammunition brands.  https://vistaoutdoor.com/about/
