Nope…I remember my 09 KX450 getting recalled for throttle bodies sucking a chunk of casting into the motor, and either the 09 or 11 having a footpeg (or footpeg pin?) breaking.
I have an old KX that all of the Nickosil coating on the cylinder flaked off and blew my motor up.. Kawasaki was awesome and replace the entire motor.. If your bike blew up do to the issue they have now they will stand behind it I am sure..
The OG Kawi 450 had a run of motors w/ too much liquid gasket, which would find its way to the internal oil screen. Once plugged, well we all know how that would end. I was able to clean all of mine before it was too late, but I definitely saw some motors go down before they found the cause.

Remember that as well. I proactively pulled and cleaned my screens on my new bikes after I heard. One was clear, but the other had a ton of that sealant on it.

Then, you pulled the ignition cover and it was a little screen you pulled with needle nose at the bottom of the case. Not sure if that's the modern 450 design still. That was an Aaron Remkus shot out at VC. That left was going off for 15min. I went and found him to shoot it before it got blown out. He nailed it. Yep, FTW for now. Stark Varg owner & slay'n 30's.

I love my kawi but this sure seems to happen more with them than other brands.
When did Kawi last have a recall? Fuel pump on 2022 KX250. Which I never did nor even had a problem with. I mean ktm had a crank recall not long ago as well.

Wow.
How many are out there waiting to grenade?
Thought this only happened to the pumpkins 😂
Assuming kawi privateers all have the faulty gear in it?

I hope J Law reads this 😂
At least they're taking things seriously and not trying to ignore the problem!
It happened to my 2024 450, complete main gear failure after 7.5 hours.
KMC refused to cover it.
Anyone interested go back to the long running 2024 KX 450 thread for the photos.
Forgot to send them to heat treat?
Maybe a bigger discount incoming! I’ll take one!

Wish Suzuki would have done that for my Rms
I had 2x RMs recalled in the 90s.
96 RM125 with footpegs snapping (mine did)
And I forget the other… May have been the same bike with piston ring locator pins falling out.

Stole them from the yz 250 bin in the Yami factory.

Where is this internal oil screen?
Cool pic by the A.S. You still in N. TX?

On the ones I had (09, 11) you pulled the ignition rotor, then I think a small cover (been awhile). Screen was about 1” square, plugged in like a cd.
Sounds like they've hired quality control engineers from Ford...
I remember. It looked like worms in there.
Are the 24’s affected by this recall?
Haven’t heard anybody with 24’s having an issue, correct me if wrong?

The 22-23 YZ 450 had the same issue, but it was never recalled like Kawi
Well the frame on my 24 had a recall.
That’s a real solid point. Mine did not so must be why I didn’t recall the recall 😂
Squires? Is that village creek?
