Per the broadcast, screenshots below. When the rule as displayed on the broadcast changes over the course of 7 days, you’re going to have confusion and disbelief.

For the fans, yes.  I’m not racing anymore, I don’t read the rule book now.  Sadly, I expect the broadcast to be more accurate.  After watching Weege after the race, it all made sense.  But maybe it needs to be revisited….

Agreed, I was making a comment as a fan. Teams and riders are responsible to have knowledge of the rulebook and any changes.

Obviously they followed the rule as written, but it looks amateur and the confusion on the broadcast was apparent.

Racing was great !  Officials made a lousy decision regarding a red flag.

No doubt, some folks here love to whine and complain about anything ...but one bad call does not make the entire event a "clown show" .

By the way, thought Weege and RC did a great job too.

In most motorsports, a red flag that late would have ended the race with no restart. That's my only real problem with what happened. In most motorsports, there are 3 red flag outcomes: 1) Full Restart, 2) Restart with a reduced number of laps, 3) Race over. The way the rules are right now, the only way to get outcome #3 is if time has expired. By that point, the race has only one lap left anyway. So you'll almost never have that happen, which is not fair to someone like Anstie who crushed that entire race. It's a stupid rule.

99.9% of Viewers have no idea what the rules are or care as long as racing starts again.

People get more pissed when the race is stopped then called complete when its not gotten to the checkered flag.

the whold night was weird.

the track was meh. That was the most tame SX track i've seen in a long time.

RC doing his typical shtick that required a few facepalms.

the restart (What the actual F?)

That said, 450 main was fire.

The track was meh?? I saw a track  that allowed multiple passing lanes. It allowed for a lot of back n forth. Tame? if tame means less injury's and better racing it was a winner. in my humble opinion

The rule is the rule so I have no issue with the restart, other than the red flag should have been out sooner.

And we are never going to have a super polished production. There’s not a lot of money in supercross and it’s never going to be the NFL.

what motorsport do you watch? nascar , indycar, world of outlaws and most short tracks will restart races after red flags  even with 2 laps remaining,

What do you think supercross is? It's a big circus and the riders are the neglected animals. Been a clown show for a while.

Super cross is a circus where the clowns and neglected animals pay to perform.

Scheduled laps?

2/17/2025 3:57am

I was sitting there in the crowd when they flew the red flag with 7 seconds left, after Mcadoo being down for 4 plus laps. Thinking to myself, surely they will call the race, more than 3/4 of it is completed. Nope lets do a staggered start restart and totally screw Anstie's 6 second lead. Like cmon Feld, common sense here. Did make for some great racing at the end though

I usually watch live on Peacock.  Decided to watch the broadcast Sunday because we were at Ford Field on Saturday.  If that is what the network broadcasts are always like, no wonder nobody watches SX.  That was brutal.  No 250 heats, weird filler segments, terrible production, AND the normal complaints from the Peacock broadcasts.  Everyone involved with that broadcast should be embarrassed.

It's not the AMA's responsibility to monitor everything. They put out a rulebook, people should know it or not complain about stupid shit.

Exactly what are they responsible for then? The broadcast is the "Face" of AMA SX/MX and they should be kept up to speed on all things AMA.

And the AMA should not change rules so the race leader loses a 7-second lead with only 7 seconds and a lap left in the race.

I'm confused, why were there 3 laps?

If 7 seconds were left when they started, why did they get a green flag only when the clock was already run out?

By the time they got to the green flag it should have been a white flag (or green/white), then checkers for only 2 laps.

That is the rule on a restart.

If they waited 7 seconds they race would have been over.

The new rule states they have to complete at least 3 full laps on a restart. So they restarted on the start straight, and when they came around to the finish line, they had 3 laps left.

The medics decide the red flag, the medic needed more help with Whackers. As soon as two go out I believe it’s a red flag scenario. They don’t look at the clock, their goal is taking care of the rider. Should it have been thrown sooner? Yes I believe it would have been better. At the end of the day it sucks balls Anstie lost, but in the same breath Macadoo didn’t get hammered laying there, didn’t get drug off the track injured like we’ve seen, and was able to come to enough to communicate and attempt to walk.

For those complaining about the races, stop and look at what we have come from in the  2000’s when the TV package began to take off with race day live eventually being added in. The entire product is so much more professional, yes we still have blunders, but so does every other sports series in the world. Haven’t you guys ever watched a nascar race?

Well in nascar it’s just as much of a clown show with cautions and penalties.

But hasn’t nascar always been like that?
It’s not common in SX, they just need to fix a rule that wasn’t broke before they changed it.

Your response begs the key question nobody seems to be asking. What are the triggers for a red flag and specifically why wouldn't a red cross flag through the entirety of the whoop section have sufficed?  A second medic triggers the flag...always?  This is what I don't understand.

This isn't second guessing the doctors. It's literally question about what are the factors that result in a doctor calling for a red flag.
