Chase was on rails to start the main. Is there any post race interviews where he addressed if there were bike problems pre crash?
I know we are all speculating, but I would love to see his lap times from the start, to the end of the race. I know the track was breaking down hard, but Sexton does not fade to fitness or anything else, if his lap times were progressively getting worse after the halfway point of that race compared to say Mookie or Webb, I think there may be something more to it than a simple mistake.
Damaged front brake and throttle from KTM PR.

The press release clears it up…. The crash is on Chase, the drop from P2 to P5 after was a damaged front brake and throttle housing.
BobPA nailed it.
Nobody was holding Mookie off last night. But Chase still extended his points lead on a tough night.

I like Sexton’s attitude and not take it too badly. Yeah, he fell over while leading, but he has to keep looking forward and move on.
Love showing this a couple times a year.
Lol 😎
Go figure. The simplest and most obvious explanation. The crazies can all head back down to mama's basement.
People using the word “choke” when one of the fastest riders in the world racing some of the toughest tracks with brutal whoops goes down are….how should I say it…..fucking idiots. Every rider goes down some pushing the limits in one of the toughest sports in the world…yes…sometimes getting pressure from behind. Not choking..getting bit riding the very edge. Just riding the edge while doing something extreeeemmmly difficult, and dangerous, that you can only dream about. Go back to eating your 10 gallon tub of cheese puffs from Costco……on the couch. Maybe later you can touch yourself some more.
I agree. People who write these sort of digs about riders have some sort of metal disorder that they will carry the rest of their lives.
Sometimes its embarrassing to be of the human race.
Imagine being married to a someone with that disorder.
I think many people genuinely don't realize that "should have/would have" is the correct phrase, and that "should of/would of" is wrong.
Sexton will more than likely retire as an all-time great of the sport, with a career similar in accomplishments to someone like Chad Reed (although I believe he'll win more than 1 more 450 title, SX or MX, in his career), and 90% of discussions surrounding him have been about choking, tucking the front, being overrated, and being a headcase. He has his faults, but he's so damn good and hardly gets any legitimate credit from the media and fans without adding in asterisks.
You're not familiar with ButtereyWaffles are you?
Good to see it was just a bike issue after the crash. I still think its weird how he went down in the whoops. Everyone just wants to blame the whoops, which is crazy to me. Whoops, big, small, cupped out, rutted, slick, etc... They are not new.
And yet EVERY rider goes down in them at times. Hmmmm…they are not new…hmmmm…...maaayyyybbbeeee they are very difficult…especially when cupped and slick…with ruts…at very high speeds…hm. They do this very difficult thing as fast as they can without crashing…and sometimes tip off that edge. No…definitely that specific rider’s fault. He should probably be banned or something.
Where can I buy this?
How do riders crash in a corner? They've been around sense man set foot on this earth, how is it possible to crash in a corner.
See how stupid you sound?
I don't know what you're going on about. I am just surprised that Sexton went down the way he did, that is all. Watching from different angles, it just looked odd. Usually its fairly easy to pick out what happened.
Other than that, I think its lame when people try to say the whoops need to be tamed down. They were fine.
Pit Row
The CR comparison is interesting to look at. Relative to the competition you could argue that Chase is faster than Chad was. When Chad would lose, indoors or outdoors to James and Ricky he'd often be gapped heavily. Whereas Chase has been right on Tomac and Jetts tail so many times. Then you look at the nature of their titles and it's similar - ricky out for 04 sx, james for 08, rv, james alessi all out in 09 mx. People do bring this up but it seems much more harsh with Chase and his titles. Chase has just lost a lot of races so dramatically from the front so many times so that it stays in the mind. Chad would often be flawless in capitalising from faster guys mistakes, whereas Chase is often the fastest guy making the error. Interesting though the choice of language when talking about certain riders mistakes - with stew it was because he was just so good and sending it so hard, but chase is a mental midget apparently. When all is said and done he'll be one of the all timers
I don't blame the corner... Figure it out yet?
You are absolutely right. I guess the comparison to Reed was based more on accolades rather than performance on the track, but it is an interesting discussion. Sexton is more similar to Stewart - wicked fast and talented, but mistakes/bad starts have hampered his potential. To add to that parallel, Stewart ended his career with very similar accomplishments to Reed - they both had 2 SX titles and 1 MX title. Of course, Stewart had more wins, but at the end of the day, the statistics are pretty comparable.
You bring up a great point regarding the language surrounding these riders. Stewart’s mistakes are almost “excused” because he was “pushing the limits of a dirt bike”, whereas Sexton’s are because of mental weakness. Perhaps Sexton is simply pushing the limits of a dirt bike in the same way that Stewart used to?
Similarly, commonly we see on this board “could care less” this is wrong.
It’s couldn’t Care less.
Did Sexton blame the whoops for his crash?
Nobody ever has ever been caught from behind and thrown out the anchor? I know I have😂the crash in the whoops was just a result of getting gobbled up by Mookie…I am a Sexton fan but Mookie was coming like a freight train …its mental, nobody gets arm pump when they pulling away…
That's hilarious.
...yet on the flip side, we had a thread a couple weeks back where everyone was purposefully mauling the spelling and grammar in their responses.
You can't win on VitalMX. 😂
You should of considered it a blessing in the sky that we could care less.
Literally.
I was thinking something similar about a fuel injected PC Kawasaki race bike having a "choke".
Please explain why you think Sexton is a Diva. I watch all the moto media I can, and I cannot figure out why anyone would say this.
Still extended his points lead? He lost points to the one guy we can count on to be there every weekend
Wasn’t everyone saying the 52mm cone valves were the best thing ever just a few years ago?
