How come no one in the industry picked up on Malcolm line at the entrance of the whoops ? Nothing like the previous race, all the rythm section was the same, the only spot that hit different was the inside, double triple and pin it through the whoops.

Malcolm did it in the heat, James spoke about it during the live.

Not a single rider other than malcolm did it in the main. And the result was 1second faster in a 9second section !!!

Come on....

On a side note Justin Cooper didnt blitz the whoops a single time, even during practice and quali, first lap of quali he jumped them 😭 this is painful to watch from a factory 450 rider.

If you’re talking about other people doing the double-triple, he wasn’t the only one who did it in the main. I’m half asleep but I think Roczen caught on before he went down

Roczen was doing it from the outside and not every lap.

I don't know of any rider, except for Craig, maybe, that enters the whoops at the speed that Malcom does. They might get the combo, but still aren't willing to enter that quickly.

It was super painful for the past couple of years watching them struggle in the whoops due to the chassis.

That line was a gamble from what I heard other riders say.   Malcolm's height and strength I'm sure helps him a lot in the whoops. Definitely an advantage. Was amazing watching him blitz them.

The Star 250 riders seemed to be blitzing the whoops pretty well.

I think Mookie was just faster than everyone today. There are many times when he’s faster than everyone and imo is still realizing it.

Yup Malcolm just had the balls to do it. Nothing inherently challenging in that triple in. No one wanted to enter the whoops as fast as malc.

The Husky team had their actuator/activator tuned better than any other team…

I bet the debrief with Bobby R was no fun after that.  I’m sure DV12 would agree.

People started running the line later in the main, at least two others. Malcolm has insane entrance speed and that’s where it really shows. Justin Hill is similar. Watching JH practice two weeks ago he would come into the whoops and barely touch the throttle. Meanwhile everyone else was trying to build speed past the entrance.

Must be those WP forks!

Seriously though, Malcom was just on it! Maybe the LitPro guys will have a video to see comparisons.

Imagine what he could do on an ally frame 450 with a right way around engine

Everyone knew that line. Others even tried it.

The difference is having the balls to keep doing it. It requires full commitment and can be pretty brutal if you fuck it up. Eli would have likely been blitzing them the same way if he wasn’t injured. Though i doubt even he could have done it any better than Malcolm.

I heard a few years ago, you only need to be faster on one part of the track and you can win.  Malcolms ride was a perfect example of that.  Might have been RD that said it?

Side topic but it has been mentionned already…what the hell is Justin Cooper doing jumping through the whoops over and over again while losing position everytime? He did it last week, then again this week. You are a factory rider on a bike that is known for his stability and you have a team of people working for you to get you confortable…what more can you ask for before you give blitzing a shot.

It is a bad look for sure. I thought this year J Coop would be a consistent top 5 guy and maybe snag a podium. Hope they figure it out!

Just saw DV12 insta story and he pretty much says the same thing as I do.

Dont say balls, say  technique, and there is a lot of technical rider in front. 1 sec off in a 9 NINE whoops section is a professionnal mistake.

Sexton, Roczen, Webb, Anderson, they have the "balls" to paraphrase you, and the technique to do a simple 2-3 and pin it in 4th gear through the whoops.

Sand section and slippery whoops may get into their heads, I dont know, I would love to have an answer from an industry insider though.

And yes Justin Cooper is an enigma. 9 whoops to blitz, even the 250 star boys were hammering those whoops. Dude is a scam.

I don’t think it’s balls. It’s more if they want to risk it. It’s great when it’s  right. It’s bad when you miss one. We’ve seen Mookie have some big ones in the whoops.

Malcolm is one of,  if not the not the best whoop rider currently racing.  He rode with james and learned the skill and therefore the confidence it takes to send it and learned frim the oldschool master whoop riders like ricky and chad and RV.  Those were some serious whoops too.  Its nice to have an obstacle that seperates riders.  Sand is another.

Pastrana said on fight night. He can take 6 seconds off a Lap in the whoops.  Stanton said 6 seconds ?  You can actually go faster threw the whoops than on a flat straight. If you know what your doing . It’s possible on some laps to get a drive boost blitzing on the tops of the whoops.   A light brake drag & release timing it perfectly & getting lucky. It feels like no’s& a turbo. Rear brake stab & kick your feet into the pegs on big spaced 1,s to drop in & launch the last few. Countless options .  Any time I see whoops ,  I say YES . I just Love hitting them Fast.

Pierce brown hit the outside and went front flipping and broke his neck. I think most ppl were just trying to survive the whoops. When malcolm is on hes one of the fastest whoop riders of all time.

Isn't that the definition of balls?

Same as the previous round with Roczen when he was consistently the fastest through the whoops. When a rider is on, it’s magic. Words and analysis by We Went Fast:

Only 2 tenth on Jett. And if you take into consideration the all line, taking the outside is slower so whoops + outside, rockzen wasnt gaining 1 full second on webb.

Here malcolm double from the inside and pin it through the whoops.

What we point out here is, team have replay, superposition of line, people in the stadium, million of dollar on a fork. But CANT SAY TO SEXTON DOUBLE FROM THE INSIDE DOUBLE FROM THE INSIDE !!!!!

Post a reply to: 1sec faster in the whoops, what are the team doing ?
