Sexton is build like a brick shit house and put in a lot of work to get like that.   He reaps the benefits of having a durable body.

Something that old frail guys on the internet don't ever understand since they never actually rode bikes at a high level.  Also a big reason Dungey was so consistent, that wasn't a fluke.

This reminds me - has anyone done a welfare check on JT$ since the news broke? Not sure how well he's gonna handle this...

However, I am looking forward to his new segment at each race from here on out where he shows us the "Get Well Soon!" card he's sending to JL that week. 👍

Chase knows the truth.

All of that from merely pointing out that Webb and Sexton both had crashes? lol

I'm sorry I triggered your sensitivities. Is "delicate" an epithet?

This is sarcasm, right?

Bummed for Jett, and for any rider injured in his prime.

That's how I took it....  sarcasm.

Agreed on your  "bummed" comment.

Signs of Deegan being the same sort of deal too. Every time hes crashed he bounces up and sprints to his bike and picks it up right away without much strain it seems

Based on the fawning/gushing JT does over Jett, there is one other tip he may like to give him.

I hear the argument of.. well staying healthy is apart of the deal.. and I get it. However, lets not kid ourselves. Whoever ends up winning the SX and/or possibly the MX championship will have everyone in the back of their mind saying, "Yea, but Jett". Please reference Reed's '04 & '08 SX titles (yea, but RC and James). Or Langston's '07 MX title (yea, but James). Or most recently Sexton's '23 SX and '24 MX title (yea, but Eli and Jett).

Why?? It's not like Jett was dominating before he went out, dude got beat straight up the majority of races and he never lead the points...

And if that's the game we're gonna play then Jett has an asterisk next to every 450 championship he's won. Didn't have to face the defending champ in 2023 MX (or most of the other top riders for that matter) and won 2024 SX with Tomac coming off injury, Webb tearing his thumb, Chase on a new bike, etc.

What 450 title has Jett actually won with a healthy field of top riders?

Ok. Take Langston's '07 MX title in a vacuum. You can honestly tell me Langston would have still won the title if James had not missed the first five races of that season? Sorry but its a *.

This is truer then many fans understand or want to admit.  I pointed out before that we have not “seen” that kind of commitment from the Lawrences in the off season.  That may, or may not, have helped prevent the ACL injury.  I’ve been told this with past injuries.  Mayo Clinic says “Strong, balanced muscles in the legs help protect the knees. Since weak hamstrings are thought to play a role in many ACL injuries, exercises that target those muscles may be especially beneficial”.  We can never know, but Chase’s durability is part of his championships and every bit as important as speed.  Too bad you can’t do workouts to help prevent concussions.  Anyway…food for thought.

Interesting and intelligent take, but can you tell me where to find this *? Not seeing it on the results, but you must be right with the logic you employed here.

Wtf are you talking about dude? How many times did Langston beat James before he got injured? Stewart was dominating everyone not named Carmichael in 2007 before he got hurt.

I literally JUST explained that Jett is not in that same position. Hell, his average finish before Glendale was 5th place 🤣

Also, if that's your stance then Jett has a big fat asterisk next to every 450 championship he has, especially 2023 MX.

Eli and Chase out weight jet by 15 -20lbs from my observation being 3-5 ft away. Jet is tall and lanky with a slim mid section and narrow shoulder width. He is not nearly as broad shoulder as Chase.

Someone brought up Dunge. Remember the ESPN the Magazine shot of Dunge naked riding his bike? Dude had legs like tree trunks. I can't remember any knee injuries for him. It's interesting this thread went here because after Jett got hurt, I thought about maybe he's a little too skinny

Outside of his collarbone in 12 and his neck in 16, Dunge was never hurt. Dude just kept building

GWS!

Comparing this to what happened to TOMAC JUST NO.

I fucking hate the asterisk talk. What are we doing here? It's motocross, it comes with the game. Every title is earned. Every one. Even Chase's sx title. Eli didn't make it to the end of the road. Sorry. Dungey earned all his titles. We're bringing up Jett's sx title last year now? Everyone was healthy, what? Oh Eli wasn't at his absolute peak speed. So for a title to "count" not only does the entire field have to be on the gate and healthy but they have to be at the absolute peak speed for their career. Cool, now I now me Got it

Not downplaying the injury just saying that I don’t think you can be so certain that he would have won that 2017 title based on the results of just two races.

It's become one of my biggest moto pet peeves. That Roczen was a lock for the '17 title. He yarded them the first race. Dungey was on his ass the 2nd race. And even without Roczen's crash, Dunge was still winning that 3rd race. So from that sample size, he was definitely going to win the title?

Yep I agree completely. Not to hijack this thread but Dungey was still a machine even if he had lost a bit of a step at that time. Tomac was mediocre early but eventually got it together and at times looked unbeatable. Kenny was definitely the favourite when he got hurt but it was far from over.

Jett has a problem with not winning every race and it could be his downfall.

Like Tomac on the Geico 450, beating people by over 1:00, its not sustainable.

He is young and will probably learn to tone it down, time will tell.

I think we downplayed the brilliance of Dungey winning those championships over and over again with consistency.

Not everyone can be Ricky, sorry fanboys but not even Jett 😀

PS: I don't think there is anyway he is anywhere near 100% at the start of MX. ACL surgery is no joke, 2 months minimum before even being able to swing his leg over a bike. He should probably sit out the first half of outdoors if not longer.
