Been busy last few months, haven't followed as much. With KTM financial situation, fair to say the exclusivity agreement won't be renewed, (whenever it end?). None of the top riders in both clases are with him, not sure about Beaumer, IIRC I read he is with Millsaps.

All he needs is another established champ 😉😂😂 he doesn’t have any top dogs right now and KTM isn’t pushing Sexton over there.
The start of the Millsaps era
To quote the movie Stripes:
“There was one?”
This made me think about how old Aldon is and if he wants to retire. He's only 54yrs old? That blew my mind.

Hopefully it’s the start of the “don’t over train to the point of burn out so careers can be longer” era…
Maybe ktm will stop paying him hundreds of thousands of dollars now and put that money towards there other employees
Yes it is over. Not too hard to get great advice to eat right and work out now. The tough part is finding a personal fit. And lord knows Aldon didn't fit everyone that tried.
My opinion is that he was one of the pioneers of structured, scientific training in our sport and is a part of the foundation that has been built off by others for the last 25 years.
There’s multiple approaches to training now, and some approaches gel with certain riders and some don’t. Think about how many riders have worked with Aldon at some point and are currently racing or training others. They take some bits they learned from Aldon that worked, and maybe learned from things that don’t, and now put their own twist on it based on their experiences.
Aldon is still obviously extremely relevant, he’s just not the only dude in the game any more and his approach isn’t the only one that works. And as we’ve learned from guys like AC, his approach doesn’t work at all for some. But the championships don’t lie, and his guys are always toward the front.
Finally, a reply that actually makes sense.
Dean Baker?
Great analysis.
The way I understand it is that the riders still pay for their own spots and that KTM just guarantees that if not enough of their riders fill up Aldon's openings, KTM will make up the difference so that Aldon isn't out any lost income at the same time not allowing any riders from other OEM's to join the program.
So in theory, I don't believe that KTM is out any money most of the time.
I’m old enough to remember Jeff Spencer when he trained Team Honda. I still have one of his books. Anyone heard anything about him in recent years?
I mentioned Dean Baker, I believe was his name. He was even before Jeff Spencer. He trained riders like Weinert.
Not since Lance got wrongfully pinched
I think you are confused.
the dean baker from Florida that has worked for several moto teams in R&D and wrenching was a pretty fast am rider in the early 90's and would not be 60 yo yet
I think that John and Eli Tomac changed a lot of people’s perception on what it takes to be a champion in this sport and how you can plan for longevity and success at the same time.
I’ve said it for years, the Vidalites give a trainer to much credit, Aldon never won a single race.. If Johnny O had moved to Florida like RC wanted, we wouldn’t even know who Aldon is
Is the Aldon Era over? No, he is a great trainer who is currently training average riders. Move Jett to KTM and train with Aldon and the Aldon era starts over again.
Aldon is great at training and marketing , he made million of dollars taking credit for turning champions into champions.
Pit Row
You may be correct, who was the trainer who worked with Weinert? I will look him up maybe.
There has always been a ton of different trainers across the nation but what ever the combination of traininghe is doing for all the KTM/HUS/GAS racers has been working.
Not sure who is training at ClubMX but they are working well too.
Training along side of the megga fast in there training facilities always helps pull racers skills up to the next level.
All he has to do is change his marketing strategy to the Loretta Lynn family’s…. Endless potential 👌
You're a 100% right! So many "trainers" and "training facilities" now geared toward mini riders and everyone of them is at max capacity. I don't get it, what happened to racing and perfecting your craft, families are selling their homes to live in a motorhome for little Johnny.
You were right, Dean Miller was the Jammer's trainer. Made the neck brace for him for Oakland maybe.
This is 100% correct . Buddy of mine has trained a bunch of top guys over the years - is now training JuJu - but isn’t interested in going “ all in “ with moto so nobody knows who he is.
Aldon is a decent trainer - obviously - but his self marketing & promotion is next level and the real key to the following he has in moto.
Cue the down votes & slating ..
That’s what it’s turning into. Right now there is more amateur kids training there then pros.
Its been over 🤷♂️
Dungey directly credited Aldon for his back to back championships. He also stated that he regretted not going to Aldon when he had the chance after the JS7 breakup. Dunge had the first shot at him and declined. So RV went with Aldon and the rest was history.
he was hired by my company to do corporate training. it was the kookiest nonsense i've ever had to sit through. 4-5 hours of nothing and talking in circles about jump to conclusions mats and other cheesy corporate shit. I wanted to ask him if he knew about Lance Armstrong's drugs*, but i didn't.
*Jeff was proudly in the Lance entourage for a couple years
I’m sure he did, but he would’ve won with me training him.
