I am not knocking Deegan at all, the kid is supremely talented, and has a very bright future, but what I found most surprising was that tonight was his 21st supercross round raced, and he has only won a total of three races. That really surprised me when they posted that graphic during tonight's race.
I just think it's funny that ppl accused Levi of showing up, seeing HD ride and then switching coasts to avoid him. People actually believed that, which is ridiculous. And now we are 2 rounds in and HD hasn't even won and hasn't looked that great. So that makes it even funnier. That being said, I think Deegan will win the west title still. But some of that is helped by a thin West field, right now. Nothing against HD, I'm sure he will get it together but if someone was so fast that "ppl were avoiding him" then I'd expect dominance.
But credit where it is due, Juju has taken another step this year. He looks good. And Davies is flying. That kid is going to be good.
At least it's been good racing.
rest
Definitely the case on the 250’s. It didn’t look like an advantage, or if it was it was minute.

This thread will age well....
What surprised me was the gap stayed around 6-7 seconds for the last half of the race (maybe more) he really should be at the very least catching these dudes! As others have said he even got a few gifts but I do think he was gonna get by those guys..
Can’t discount Jordon Smith in this convo. There probably is an anvil just waiting somewhere for him unfortunately, but he’s looking legit for race wins and the title too.
I don’t even like Deegan, but he just got a little tight at the start. Pretty sure he’ll work through it. He hasn’t been known for his starts.
Julien said it was slower to not 3-4 but he felt more comfortable doing the 2-3-2 for the full race because he felt he could make it up everywhere else on the track. @inflammable is right, doing the slower line and not losing time is telling. He was fast!
this surprised me as well, he didnt close in on the leaders early, i think if Davies had not had issues he would not have caught him either,
Word, haven’t listened to the press conference yet. It looked close to the eye. Maybe it was worth a tenth or 2?
They're in a crisis meeting with Princess Brian. They're both rubbing his tramp stamp in the hope it helps them come up with some suitable PR line.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the difference was but I noticed in the 450's Ken was catching Webb there every lap until Webb started to do it (which in the presser he said he really did not want to do that thing lap after lap!
)
He is obviously becoming one of the greats in mx, but sx, he appears lacking.
It was a 5th place ride tonight.
Don’t say this look at all the d riders down voting your post or any of my posts because I talked shit on deegan once. Deegan is untouchable outdoors. Sx has to be so frustrating for him as I believe he is putting in all the work and doing his best but it’s still not good enough. I would bet he does not get this title. Now let’s watch for the down votes.
Yeah I couldn’t believe he didn’t do that line. It’s a lot more rest time but a lot more risk. Juju had way more speed and feel like he had more in the tank.
It’s funny the start of the race rc was already concerned about where Deegan was and to be honest I thought he still would win with where he started. He started pretty horrible got around the first turn way better than he should have but was held up in the first rhythm.
Makes me wonder how he’d handle being kicked while he’s down the way he has done so to Hymas, Kitchen, or Hunter in the past when they were struggling. Maybe it’ll show him that “entertaining sh*t talk” is not fun to be on the receiving end of when you’re off. The deegan on the podium last night would not have enjoyed taking jabs to grow our sport I don’t believe.
I actually really like watching him ride and respect his race craft immensely, but being handed some humility hopefully changes his attitude on navigating the future.
Pit Row
He had an off night and was humbled. Might not be the worst thing for him.
That’s a good point. Tonight he started well enough where he should have been able to win but could not even match jujus laps most of the time. He cried on the podium and his dad took his PlayStation from him for the week and the lambo keys. Let’s see how next week goes before we write him off. If this was smx he would have won by a mile but this is the big boys club in the kids class.
Deegan certainly had the speed today, lap times don't lie. He was fastest in all sessions.
A shit start combined with a few mistakes held him back. Juju was riding great and made less mistakes.
Deegan sits in 4th 10 points back from the red plate. I'm guessing he will start winning soon and claw his way to this championship.
Losing a bit now could be good for him. I personally hope it humbles him a bit.
He's not concerned with these lowly 250 riders, he has his eyes on beating Jett!
Last I heard he was planning on defending his title.
"Danger Boy" isn't a cute nickname?
Sessions aren't races. Sessions tell who can do a single fast lap without race pressure and strategic thinking. If you can't translate fast practice laps into race pace, the times are meaningless.
His face on the podium, good to see him get humbled like this. Getting straight beat is good for his ego.
It’s a shame he’ll likely join the 450’s after a mass exodus of elite riders.
Jett got beat two rounds in a row, where’s the outrage!
After wanting a perfect season!
