"Leaning lesson" is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Just say lesson. Learning is implied.

When my grandpa would take his belt off, you were fixing to learn a lesson the hard way.

For some reason I read this in George Carlin’s voice

You can learn a lesson, yes. That is the correct way. Saying you can learn a learning lesson is stupid. There is no lesson that is not a "learning" lesson. Once again, learning is implied by the definition of the word lesson.

Yes!

She just usurped Ann Pornakova as my favorite female tennis player. Bonus points to her for telling that buff Greek chick to shut the hell up last August. NFG. 🙃

I feel like I need to share my experience on Jett getting booed or lack there of.

I saw him at A1 ride from the pits to the stadium for Q1. The crowd went absolutely bananas and he was high fiving people as he rode through.

During rider intros there was a slight chorus of boos but I thought it was overwhelmed with cheers.

His autograph line was also wrapped around the block. The guy has his haters for sure but what I witnessed was overwhelmingly supportive. Just my two cents

Perhaps the cousin of the ATM Machine?

If someone is taking a lesson in how to learn more effectively, that would be a learning lesson. Otherwise, I agree, it’s a stupid phrase. 🤣

What about if he learned a lesson, as in some justice was served but he didn’t actually learn anything from it?

If he didn’t learn anything, then it would seem no lesson was learned. I think the better thing to say is that someone taught him a lesson, but that lesson wasn’t learned (not all teaching is successful).

Exactly. The 'lesson' is abject. I've taken guitar lessons and didn't learn anything. The actual learning of a lesson is determined in part by the severity of the application. In redneck vernacular, a learning lesson is a lesson learned the hard way. In other words, the pain was enough that the lesson 'took.'

The real question is - what lesson have we learned from this? 🤔

There’s a distinction between taking and learning a lesson. It makes sense to say you took a lesson in which you didn’t learn anything. It makes no sense to say you learned a lesson in which you didn’t learn anything. If you didn’t learn anything, then you didn’t learn anything (definitely read that in George Carlin’s voice).

Props for using “abject” and “redneck vernacular” in the same post

Haha. I’ve often thought about some of today’s kids, my father could have you straightened out in about 30 seconds.

The big deference she doesn’t live in Australia and play 31 weekends a year in Australia. It’s easy to play the heal when you only do it on holiday…

Here's a lesson learned for you haters. Jett is one bad stud on a dirt bike and he cashes giant checks for doing it.

I am glad I’m not the only one. The water heater and ATM have me all fucked up. I need a learning lesson I guess
