My family and I are considering a move to Florida Orlando area. Im wondered what its like riding in Florida VS So Cal. I am right in the middle of what "used to be" the moto cap of the so-called with Perris Raceway 15 mins from home, and Fox is 45 mins. Im 60 now so I usually dont ride in summer here is Cali.

If you do not ride because of the heat Then you are going to enjoy watching TV in FL with the heat and Humidity .
You talking all year around??
Just about
The humidity is something most under estimate. There is about 4 months out of the year that I'm sweating while gearing up in the shade before I even get on the bike. As soon as I get off the bike I turn on my battery powered fan to help cool down. You have to start hydrading days before a summer ride day. You can definitely ride year round, and you'll have a few places relatively close to Orlando. Orlando MX, Spyder MX, and PAX will be closest to Orlando depending on which side of town you're looking at.

We are currently enjoying a very cool winter, high 60”s low 70”s for the last month and appears to be continuing…great riding weather …I”m 2hrs south of Orlando, but similar weather….I don’t summer down here, I would imagine its pretty brutal, but it would not stop me from riding….the beer taste really good after a hot day of riding….
If you do go east, be sure to plan a ride day or 2 in TX on the pass thru. Well worth the effort!
I don’t know how you could leave so cal and move to Florida.
Just stay in California please😂😂
Florida...it's NOT a dry heat😂
However, if you like daily afternoon rain storms around 4 PM that bump the humidity up to Amazonian levels you'll love it.
Theres a reason Florida Man is crazy...
I grew up racing in Florida and the humidity was brutal. Been in San Diego since 1988, and around 95 I took a trip back to Florida thinking I might move back there. The humidity was like a punch in the face. I’m still in San Diego. 🤣
I don’t mind the humidity but its hard to put mx socks on when your all sweaty😂…Im guessing most Floridians don’t ride much in the summer months? Even upstate NY can be super humid during the summer…I always enjoyed the heat & humidity for training & riding…..but I like to suffer…I wonder what Professional125 thinks of Florida?
Fl. Way ovr populated now. Humidity is much higher in Louisiana & mo. Fl. Gets cross winds that cool it off in August still hv humidity tho. Cincinnati was the hottest state 1 yr I was in. But Fl. Is muggy & bright sun which becomes annoying. My favorite weather is extreme muggy & hot so I would Love to ride there. But it’s hard on a bike . Fl. Is Very flat tho if u like tracks with hills & valleys . You won’t find it there. 94-97 I worked in Fl. On the hhg rig . The panhandle was colder than Wi. Some nights. Vet racing is much bigger in Wi. Than fl. Late summer tho consistent muggy days start 3rd week of July to sept. May snow is rare but in 23 gb got 9 in just north 20 in & Mn. Boarder 20 in+ . June is mild . 1 weird thing about fl. Is the grass it’s Real coarse on bare feet. I like soft Wi. Grass it tickles your feet. Fl. Wild life is f ing cool tho. A screen porch will b covered in gkekos, crazy large birds in a under water woods, huge gaters , big snakes. We took a John boat threw the woods surveying . Even at 3am on i75,95 traffic hvy in& out .
Lots of public tracks available but its amazing how many private tracks are around. I used to wear all black gear and watch kids falling out on the gate in the heat in summer who visited from out of state but i grew up on a tropical island so I was used to it . Even golfing I have had so many people have to quit because of heat stroke symptoms during summer. I used to love it boiling hot but the older I get the less I enjoy it. You will have plenty of options in that area.
I wrote a novel about Florida's diversity but was kind of off topic and saved it but clipped it from here. Lol
dirt is better, staying hydrated is harder.
I love the Mtbing in FL, never take my moto. Only a couple times has the heat and humidity been to much. But that happens in all southern states. Overal super fun and beautiful state especially the gulf side. But way to flat to live permanently in.
In the summer months even just changing the oil and air filter on your bike can be a 2-3 T-Shirt job in the garage. The riding is definitely few and far between compared to even 10 years ago, really depends on where you locate to in FL. South Florida especially has exploded the last few years.
If the California summers are too brutal for you to ride in, you could probably scratch riding off your list in FL from about May-September in all seriousness. The humidity is no joke, I’m 23 and work in construction and my ass is still kicked after a day of hard riding in the summer.
You can not beat Southern CA for riding weather, it’s not even debatable. I lived there.
You will NOT be riding comfortably in the summmer if at all in Florida. The humidity is no joke.
I recently moved to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in July of last year and the humidity is real. Unless you have a high tolerance for it like someone said above, you better be hydrating and monitoring your stats if your going to do it. I’m 66 and have adapted to the humidity but you literally sweat doing nothing.
I watch our hero’s riding at the Southern facilities and think to myself how is that happening. Then I realize I’m not 25 anymore.
we've had a nice winter, but the last 2 or 3 were miserable with rain, warmer temps, and our summer from orlando south was one of the hottest on record. May-October in Orlando is miserable, the humidity is just brutal and it doesn't go away; nightly temps can still "feel like" 95+. We have a decent number of tracks (Pax, Spyder, MotoBros x 2, 74mx, Orlando, Dade City), and if you're really feeling adventurous, croom is only about 1.5 hours away.
Something to consider, Florida cost of living has sky rocketed the last 5 years. A lot of the "no income tax!" shine has worn off with rising home owners insurance and the same cost-of-living factors everyone else has faced (I am a 3rd generation Floridian).
Pit Row
Dude, Orlando is land locked and is hell on Earh during the summer. Hottest f’ing place ever. You will be miserable. At least go near one of the coasts. I prefer the Gulf of America coast, personally. Can’t beat that sugar white sand and ocean breeze.
I Love it we got flight pay money for working 21+ days. I woukd stay hit the clubs at pleasure island in summer, bungee jump, rent jet skis , mini golf, go karts, cool waterside restaurants, etc. yborr city was crazy in 96, 7 chics barely wore anything in summer at night. A group of women with baseball players where there. I busted out my disco moves in there circle. Haha I score 1 that divorced from a player. We went to Orlando & Daytona partying, etc. her sister called the st police because she forgot to call her on being safe & all. Florida is a party state to get wild . The humidity doesn’t faze me . Could b from being inside the upstairs barn bailing hay , 90,s muggy , no air moving , hay puts off heat, blue jeans& long sleeve flannel shirt. Because the hay cuts your arms. Skinny too heat don’t effect lean people much. The 100+ dry heat out west I struggle in that . And cramp up dehydration sneaks up on ya. A lot of transplants from the NE & Midwest live in Florida. Very Nice variety of women. Mid to late summer afternoons Florida people drive the fastest of any state. Ave 88-118 mph on rds crossing the state not i75,95. A lot of white vehicles with dark tint. My white 95 g20,s ac went out I got by with just limo tinting the rear windows. A little hot sitting in Chicago traffic tho. I keep 3 gal of water within reach & dump them on me. Haha
Yeah white sand with tan babes . Daytona after 97 Gainsville I had a paper disposable camera I told the gals . That I,m a photographer for cones incorporated haha. Reading a book she has a new 911 turbo , other 2 from the ne u can tell there not tan spring breakers.

Profesh and Daytona Beach in the 90s, this sounds like the intro to a great movie.
I mean this in the same way I would say it to a Veteran. Thank you for your service. Construction during the summer in FL would be hell on earth.
The problem with Florida isn't that it's hot in the summer, it's that it's hot for so long. From April to Oct it's 85+ degrees with 70%+ humidity and even at night you will have a layer of sweat covering your body. It seems like it rains almost every damn day. Just relentless.
The beaches are incredible. Everything is green and looks nice. Lots of motorsports racing. But, Swamp-ass city
Truth…. Need to be close to ocean…
Spot on👍I”m in Palm Beach county….super expensive….I”m trying to convince my wife to move little more north where its a bit cheaper….and more riding options…. She not buying it😂but we have excellent Mtn biking and the beaches are 10 minutes👍
Thank the roofers. Those motherfuckers are tough as a nails.
Not too far off from what I expected, but some very well-made points here. Summer sounds fricken miserable regardless of if you are riding or not! As I said I dont ride here in Cali in the summer anymore as I get older from mid-July to the end of October so I would definitely not be riding in Florida in summer at all. Im not competitive, im just a recreational rider. I actually grew up in Las Vegas and HATE the heat, and I know that is not even compatible with dry/wet heat so I'm sure I will hate Fl weather too, LOL. My wife tells me I would just have to see how I would like or tolerate it. Iv never been to Florida so have no idea what it feels like, so good input guys.
YES So Cal is absolutely THE perfect weather probably BEST in the country I think, but at the rate of track closures here, it's getting ridiculous! We just lost 2 more tracks here 1 in my area Lake Elsinore MX and 1 more in upper LA are LACR.
The thought of this move is based on a potential job transfer to Fl with the company I work for and eventually retiring somewhere other than California that is not as $$$. It's getting harder to consider retirement options here. My wife and I do love California, our sons do not so much any more and Im actually surprised that I would even consider getting out of Cali but there is a lot to not love being in Cal anymore! It used to be the perfect place, I dont think its that anymore and our family likes the idea of something new, something "green" and maybe some better dirt, for my last few years of Moto LOL!
So what is winter riding and living like is it anything like California weather but with slightly more humidity? Ive been looking at the current temps and humidity Fl. vs Cal. pretty close in temp but do you feel the humidity in winter as well?
Do not feel the humidity in the winter ( now) for me in Biloxi Mississippi which i believe is as bad as anywhere in Florida. This is coming from a California, Colorado and Minnesota native.
I haven’t ridden yet since Ive been here but want to get out now. Wasn’t even a thought last summer. I don’t have many options to ride near me. 2 hours to nearest track.
Moto is slowly slipping away for me nowadays and it’s bumming me out.
Hope you find what your looking for.
I'm 68. Retired 3 years ago. I lived in Huntington Beach Ca from 2004 - 2021. Loved it but knew I couldn't stay there in retirement do to cost. A year before I retired I researched all the states for what would be the best for weather, healthcare, taxes and just cost of leaving. I almost decided on Florida as I traveled there for work for about 15 years. But I decided on Georgia. They don't tax your pension or Social Security. After being here for almost three years now my wife and I love it. Yes just like Florida (or any state on the East) in the summer it's hotter than hell and the humidity is unbearable but I still will go to the local track once a month early at 8:00 and ride until about noon. Fall, winter and spring are great here though. The battery fan like mentioned before is a must in between rides. And yes hydrate at least a full day before you go helps. Doesn't help the heat but you won't feel like your going to pass out as quick. Biggest thing on the East (especially the South) is the cost of living. I'm living better in retirement than I did in Cali working a full time job for Boeing.
