It’s so hard hearing about regular guys like  Scrub  getting injured like this, he is one of the nicest guys you will meet, I hope he can recover with no problems.

If that’s where it happened, that  front table is a big one that boots you up pretty high, TBH it scares me a little to jump it anymore every lap in my old age.

I’ve seen a few bad crashes on that jump by kids and vet riders when they come up short.

Hopefully the Minters re evaluate that jump to maybe take  some of the pop out of it and taper the landing a bit more.  Not everyone riding  there is a full time pro or expert…

Don’t they have a vet track at Cahuilla?  They used to last time I was there, but that was a few years ago.

They do and it's actually a really fun, safe layout, but Scrub always hangs out at the instabanger booter on the main track.

So happy to hear he is getting better, dude is a local treasure.

I just had this conversation with the track owner at our local track here in vegas, I said the majority of your customers are over 40 and you should really make these jumps more out than up and have more forgiving landing areas. He just grumbled something about everyone complains and says that his jumps are too easy and the fast guys want booters… i just said I was trying to provide constructive feedback, that being said I haven’t been back out there in 4 weeks because it’s just a little too much me anymore, I don’t need to go 30 feet up to go 70 ft out that’s just silly!

I’ve never understood catering to the “fast guys.” They are a minimal number of the total riders and often have several places to ride (including private) at their disposal. The overwhelming majority of riders are vet and beg/jr.

Because they still go off of the old thought process of "where the pros go the rest will follow." Everyone thinks the instabangers of the fast guys throwing it sideways over some big jumps and wide open around big bowl turns will catch the eye of everyone else.

IMO, we seem to be in this weird spot where a lot of main tracks are too much in the way of big booters and being super fast while the vet tracks are too tame a lot of the time. I've had very little desire the last few years to really ride any local tracks because of this. LACR is one where the vet track is just too mellow for me, but the main(because of jumps) is too much for how little I've ridden/jumped the last few years. Tracks like Glen Helen, Honolulu Hills and American MX have been my favorites because of their layouts and not having anything crazy that makes or breaks the laps if you aren't doing them. Then again I'm not 18 anymore. I'm getting older, riding less and constantly reminding myself that I have a family to provide for, work on Monday and bills that need to be paid so my opinion probably means next to nothing 😂

You pretty much nailed it.  I would add that so may tracks and Cahuilla in particular seem to have a bunch of large blind jumps.  I'm glad to hear that Scub is getting better.  He is one of those guys who seems to always have a great attitude and sense of humor.

Forgot about the blind jumps part. Talk to the tracks about those.... That conversation always goes well 😒

Yes they do, and it is great.

When you and I started riding there around twenty years ago, the main track was just awesome, with no blind jumps and a great layout.   It has gotten more technical and risky with some instagram jumps and corners.

You go there on a weekend, and the vet track is as packed as the 405 at rush hour, but the main has relatively few riders.

I’ve been riding and racing there since it opened in 02, but I have a job and a fam to support, I can’t be taking a helo ride for a mistake on a big booter……

This, 100%

That's why I love Elsinore. The IV track is perfect for me. Although I have been riding the main more and more. I'm telling you, if Elsinore tamed that main track down just a hair so more people could ride it, it would be one of the best tracks in SoCal.

No shame there - mortgagitis eventually gets us all.

That, or gravity.😱

I prefer the mortgagitis avenue.👍

Mostly agree with this. Loved Elsinore last time I was there. Warmed up on the Vet, then went to the main for a few laps because it had been 11 years since I rode it last and ended on the IV. The IV was really fun, but I wanted more. The main was just a bit much for me at the time

When my dad used to ride out there, Randy told him he wasn’t allowed on the main track.  At this point, I probably have no business on the main track myself.

If you check his IG, he's been out at the tracks filming recently, so it would seem he's doing ok all things considered. I'd be surprised if his riding days aren't behind him, though.

He posted in his IG story about no riding this year. That was a bummer to see.

I had a quick chat with him on Friday and he was in good spirits shooting photos. I could feel he is itching to ride but is also being smart with his recovery. However, It’s always good to see Scrubby out at the track. Brings smiles wherever he goes.  Legend!
