The funny thing about all of this is that a lot of people say the riders only have X amount of years to make their money, which is accurate. The Lawrences make a wise long-term business move and it's outrage.

If the shoe was on the other foot, a lot of people would be praising and saying the Deegans are smart business people.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The narrative certainly played into Deegans angle of creating talk and hype regardless of whether it’s substantiated.

Sucks the Lawrence’s are once again on the receiving end of a complicated story where most won’t read into the details and will just boo at opening ceremonies because it’s easier than understanding nuance.

They should be boo’d. Read between the lines, they “strategically” excluded haiden.

He is not excluded, he can enter.

He just will not get paid any start money, and im guessing the Prize money probably is not worth his time flying from the U.S to Aus to warrant the entry.

facts!  Deegs doing Deegs things for Haiden’s career.  Going to be a wild few years once he gets on the 450.

So, the 15 pager is "fake news." If Deegan wanted to pay his own way, he could have gone.  Thanks for the post.

A bit more to it than that. Maybe read more than the headline.

The Lawrence camp softballed it a bit. A more accurate description would probably be along the lines that their dislike for Haiden motivated their choice to deny him the financial request.

The rest of the verbiage is just PR to make the Lawrence’s look better in a less than ideal situation that they thought the public would never see.

I don’t think that the promoters would pay anyone else if they only have 3K tickets to sell. Sounds like Deegan’s agents could have locked in a solid payday if they’d agreed to the race a few months back, but they waited too long to have any leverage. The Lawrences made their deal, as well as Webb, and that was really all the promoters needed to practically sell out the event.

I don’t know, but I doubt that the Deegan camp was as salty as Kooksey made it out to be, he needs clickbait titles and manufactured drama to try to survive. You know he’s not moving much real estate!

Nice to get everyone's story straight, thanks ML.

Between offering danger boy $100k a couple weeks before the event without telling his partners and the debacle WSX was for 2 years Adam Bailey makes some questionable decisions. I know he's put on good events but sheesh, I bet the Lawrence's and Mirtl were like W-T-F when the heard about the late offer.

Can't wait to see everyone on a 450 in the big boy class, it's gonna be good.

If trophies were awarded for creating internet drama, the Deegans would be the GOAT.

It seems like a miscalculation on the promoters part to get that far in negotiations and then pull back after checking with their business partners.
The ticket situation and start money expectations seem too far apart to begin the negotiations, and the promoter would never have needed to check with the Lawrence’s. Or at least could have kept the discussions internal before deciding it wasn’t worth doing.

Obviously people are gonna run with it but my point was I think they’re very focused on the money aspect of the sport and that’s what guides most of their decisions. They’re flashy, jewelry-laden, car collection, types.

Deegs should just move up the 450 class and race Jett. I mean Bradshaw did at 17. If the 250 riders suck ass like Deeg’s claims, move the up race Jett.

I said over and over in 2023 that Jett should have raced 450sx. Everyone on this board was like “he’s only 19!!! 450s are different! He needs more time!!!”

Amazing how the goalposts move

This is fair.

If Deegan races the whole '25 series and moves up in '26 he will have competed in more 250 races than Jett.

Also have to figure in that Deegan has had a supercross track on his backyard from the time he was 3 years old and has been hyping himself up as the next big thing for a decade while the Lawrence's sold everything they had, lived on 3 different continents and didnt get to America and supercross until Jett was 14. It was pretty obvious that Jett was head and shoulders above the competition on his last 250 season I expect the same from the 38 in '25 as he showed outdoors and SMX this year.

Got some news for you, all these guys are racing for the money.  Sure many of them like riding dirt bikes, but they aren't doing it at the highest level for free.

You somehow think deegan isn't focused on the money??  He asked for 100 grand payday to race AUS a couple weeks before the event.

All these guys are trying to make life changing money, and the Lawrence's didn't have any coming into the sport like deegan did.  so yes they are probably trying to squeeze as much juice out of the orange as they can.

you just sound jealous, but I'm not surprised from vital resident "elite athlete"

This combined with your original closing comment…

“Nothing Burger”

When I saw Jason being dragged into this and knowing he’s not “contractually eligible” for these races? I laughed my ass off.

I wouldn’t blame Deegan’s doing Deegan things. The promoters (minus the Hunta brothers) of the event offered $100k to Deegan’s. Then went back to the Hunta brother’s and they didn’t agree with it for more reasons then just tickets were already sold. So the promoters rescinded their original offer. Still a shady way to run a business to make an offer then back pedal. But at the same time I understand some of it.

For me I see both sides of it, but it is what it is. Is it A1 yet?

I don’t blame the deegans for being who we know they are but that doesn’t mean we should take them at their word and they shouldn’t face push back. And the same for the Lawrence’s.

The deegans clearly really care about the narrative and want to control it.  The Lawrence’s clearly aren’t wanting to get into the weeds with the deegans so they largely stay quiet.   Media members should question all sides. Good job to ML on this one.

Did I read that right? 100K start money possibly  for Deegan?   That's insane if so. 5K and travel and hotel paid  should be more than enough for a 250 exhibition race with zero competition.  Plus the event is already pretty much sold out. I think the promoters would be insane offering any 250 rider or  even a top 450 a 100k

In the original post page 15, I called it all "Bullshit", and it was.

It's un-Australian🤠

The thing i find funny is how the Deeganits were screaming that he couldn't go to the MXDN because if he pushed the surgery back 2 weeks he would never be ready for A1. And yet he we are 8 weeks away from A1 and the Deeganits are mad because they claim the Lawrence's are scared to have him in Australia this weekend. 🤣

One time 250 title winners don’t have “Rivalries” with six time champions.

It’s social media marketing paid for by the DeeganDashians & Monster Energy.

Becuase they have Monster Energy sharing & promoting all their social media they think they are geniuses.

I could make a rock famous if it had Monster supporting it with millions of dollars and sharing / paying to promote every single social media post.
