Did anyone else catch this lol. Hes hinted at this a bit in other interviews that hes a huge fan of jett and in this interview he said hes his #1 fan. I thought that was pretty funny and also awesome for him to say. I think that someone who loves racing as much as jeffrey (which was also mentioned in this interview how hes going right back to the off season races next week) it makes sense that hed be a fan of some of the new guys. From all of the cool stuff that came out this weekend this was another pretty cool little nugget of insight into what these guys actually think about each other.

best part was the pre race interview! he asked Jett for a jersey and Jett said " a number 1 or number 18" 🤣
That’s funny, any love for Jett that I see posted on here has 5 negative comments and 50 downvotes in response to it.
I caught that in the interview. Thought it was awesome of him to give props like that.

Herlings is Jett's #1 fan, but when the gate drops, he'll he going for the win.
When your competitors want your jersey it’s got to be both flattering and uncomfortable. Do you reciprocate even if you DGAF? A great problem to have.
He also said Jett wasn’t as fast as he thought he would be. His post race interview made me think actually racing Jett decreased his opinion…but still a big fan.

He also says that Jett was only 10 seconds in front of him at the end, which is actually double that (20 sec), so Jeffrey was further than he thought at the moment of the interview.
That’s racer talk. Like…. I started way back like in 15th = 8th place start. I came from dead last = 25th in MX, 15th in SX. My bike sucked means my bike is better than 99.9999% of dirt bikes. You get it….

Truth be known, all of the top riders are fans of each other.
They all know what it takes to race at their level.
But it’s rare to hear of it in a way like this. Herlings is quite unique in the way he talked about Tomac years ago and now Jett for a couple of years.
Normaly you can get a ”Yeah he rode great” from Tomac or Sexton regarding Jett, while Herlings that is known as one of the fastest riders on this side of the earth pours his heart out over him everytime he gets the chance to do it.

in seriousness, i like the current form Herlings and every interview he gave last week was good stuff. i hope he does pack up and come over for an outdoor run, would be awesome dude is still one of the best to do it.
Another example today on the mxgp podcast lewis says jeffrey was Ecstatic that jett moved to the open class because it meant that he could watch jett ride. Pretty cool hearing from guys like him how impressed by the kid they are imo.

My hope is if the MXGP does not start great for him and he looks like a championship is less likely than he comes over to start MX and gives it a shot.
Now we just need Tim…but that won’t happen because he will be leading the MXGP.
