If you read Michael’s KX tests and set-up tips…that bike has all the things he’s addressed to get quite a bit of power out of the new bike.
Have you every tried to clear an 80 foot triple on a ZX6?
Have you ever tried to go 165 on a kx450? Or does your kx have lights? Gauges? Ignition lock? Turn signals? Horn? Kick stand? Catalytic converter? EPA certs? Dot testing and certs? Locking fuel cap? Massive fuel tank? Rad fans? Dual front rotors? Tires that are twice as wide? Body work that’s 10x the cost? Etc etc I totally never understood how a street bike could be priced lower than a dirtbike especially a 2 stroke dirtbike that doesn’t have any electronics and super simple.
People like modifying bikes because they get to choose the parts. Personally I don’t care about the suspension coatings (esp when you need a revalue anyway) the black anodized rims or ‘polished 🙄’ ports. I would buy a dirt tricks sprocket over the renthal etc.

I still can't figure out how cheap 4k big screens are so cheap when that same TV was bought for 15k to 20k by some NBA player 6 yrs ago.
This sport continues to price itself out of existence.
I like the look, though I've never been a big fan of the green bikes. Only thing I'd change is make the "SR" decal less prominent.
I’ll take one and ride the wheels off for ya?
Well no shit Sherlock. All I was pointing out is that if you are the guy who intends to do all the upgrades the SR already comes with, you can actually save time and some money by buying the SR.
Seems obvious to me that if the mods the SR comes with aren't something you want or like, then no matter what the cost, the bike isn't for you.
Funny thing; I hate 450’s and not a big fan of Kawasaki’s. So why did I drop $8000 on a 2023 KX 450SR with only five hours on it?
Well, for the last 10 years I have been a huge 350 guy and hated every 400/450 I owned. The engines always felt too strong and heavy.
The KX has an engine that spins freely, great controllable delivery and seems super easy to ride. The chassis fits my 6’4” frame and it is stable AND turns precisely.
Never would I have thought these things if I did not ride one last week. Yep, within a week, I hunted a few new ones down at 10,500 OTD, and found a few used low hour at great prices. I couldn’t be happier.
So, I will be wanting to ride a 2025 before I would buy one, because it has huge shoes to fill to get me to part with my 2023. The bike is not perfect stock, but my list is much shorter and cheaper than my 2023 GasGas FE build this past winter.
Picked up my 25 450SR today! Can't wait to see how it compares to my 23 SR. I put 75 hours on the 23 and loved every minute.
Looks awesome! Congrats!
#RideReport?!
Congratulations
man that thing looks good. ive got 20 hours on my 24 450 with a pc slip on, air box plug removed, and a 51 rear and i couldnt be happier. that thing is going to be money! good luck, looking forward to a ride report
OTD price? Looks awesome, very cool! But wouldn’t make me any faster! It would just be cool to have!
Thanks guys, I was surprised it came in so quickly! The dealer told me they were only getting 1 this year because they are only building 320 of them. I would love to confirm that number, if correct it is pretty rare. My dealer treated my well on this one, $7300 out the door with my trade. Used market sucks so I was not too surprised by the final number.
Unfortunately its looking like we are going to get 8-10 inches of snow tonight so likely not going to ride until next weekend. Holding out hope the weather people get this one wrong and I can ride it Sunday. On the bright side, It'll give me time to grease everything up before getting it dirty. I will definitely give a detailed ride report vs the 23SR as soon as possible. I am already dying to ride it feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve. Got to heat cycle it a few more times, LOL.
That’s interesting on the # of units if accurate. I think 400 units is the minimum for homologation. Not that it matters for a factory team but they typically start with the FE, SR, WE as the base to build off.
Just saw one at Temecula Motorsports. Sticker was $15k+, with taxes and fees it’ll be close to $19k…
Looked nice, but not thaaaat nice
I believe 400 available to the general public through a Kawasaki Dealer is true. There has to be more that 400 Kawasaki dealers across America .
Pit Row
Ouch, I would have had to reconsider at the price! I am very happy with the price I paid, would have liked more for the trade but the market sucks so cant complain too much.
My local dealer is $16K OTD
I’ve seen them 1k off retail. Sport cycles In rockingham I believe
$15K to get the Green Terd to be competitive with the BluCru YZ 450 $11k? .....no chance.
A mod super mini can run you $15k. Paying that for a 450 with a factory warranty doesn't seem that crazy.
No one with a brain is paying 10k for a standard kx450
Never said they were
Then it's more like 5k over the standard model and definitely not worth it
Factory warranty lol.
I got to ride my '25 SR yesterday and wanted to give a quick impression. I rode at my regular track, IMI Motorsports Park near Denver. It is a fairly fast track with a fair number of jumps and both fast sweepers and slower tight corners. Track conditions were not ideal as we had quite a bit of snow a week or so ago and it was a chilly 50 degrees. There were 3 short swampy sections we had to bypass but otherwise it was decent. It got deeper and softer ruts than normal and fairly rough in sections so I wasn't pushing as hard as I normally would on my '23.
The bike definitely turns quicker than the 23 with a touch more nervousness in the braking bumps. I could tell it will be more settled in rutted corners as the bike had less tendency to stand up if I wasn't in perfect position and seemed to have better front end traction. The motor is a bit softer down low but seems to pull forever in 3rd gear and is super linear. I didn't have any trouble pulling 3rd gear out of the slowest corners and easily jumped the 100' triple in the middle without shifting to 4th. My 23 preferred 4th gear on that jump as it would start to rev out and lose steam earlier than the 25. The suspension seems very similar to the 23 which is to say excellent. I Didn't touch a clicker or sag as I usually wait to get a few more hours on the suspension but really didn't need to in order to feel comfortable.
Overall, I am sure I will love this bike once I am used to it and able to take advantage of the quicker turning. I may open up the airbox and play with the tuning to see if I can get a bit more of the low end throttle response as that coupled with the killer top end and the motor will be perfect for me. The 23 SR is easily the best bike I have ever owned and I am already feeling like the 25 raised the bar. I'll update again once the track is a bit drier and back to normal.
It sounds amazing. On my 24 drilling the side covers and airbox with a stepped drill bit helped a bunch in roll on power. The bikes so good. If you like it that much with zero tweaks wait till you get the fork height / sag/ front tire of choice all settled in.
I also found I really like the bars in the forward holes and mounts rotated forward. Sounds extreme but feels completely natural and helps cover the front of the bike.
Great suggestion, I will try it out!
