What will Webb be riding, since Star doesn’t support the race?

A guy I know works on a furniture delivery team....This was dropped at the Webb Residence today:

Why do you care/what does it matter? I truly don’t understand why it matters?

I have no dog in this fight, but I think it's bullshit if Star funds Webb to go but makes the Brits lease Anstie's bike. Either Star sends both guys, or the AMA leases a bike for Webb.

Matthes tweeted that Team USA is air freighting Webbs bike, so maybe they are helping offset some cost there? Idk, I doubt we’ll get an answer

How ironic is it that cooper webb is going to ride deegans 250f at the motocross of nations for a team that supposedly wont let riders go because of an injury that supposedly never existed? You cant make this stuff up lol…

If they don’t, it sets a pretty poor double standard for US teams hiring overseas riders.

Think of it as reparations for 1812

Thinking to myself there was some paperwork error at the AMA and they got the wrong "Cooper" JCoop

Thanks for stepping up, Cooper Webb, Give'm Hell!

You guys are unbearable. Every thread. The obsession is unhealthy. Get help!!

I’m a fan of Deegan, his riding style is exciting, he clearly works hard, max passion. At first I was a bit put off by his podium performance, but the way he’s owned it has me actually kinda enjoying it. If the reason was his wrist, he wouldn’t have waited till Eli made the decision not to  go to decide himself, he would have just ducked out weeks before…I don’t like him less, but let’s be honest.

You keep saying this and its not the case…the team said they, the Deegans and the doctors decided that the hardware should be removed as soon as the season was over…not that they won’t support it…

I don't think Star ever said it. Deegan said that when he was flailing around and changing excuses.

Might Cooper Webb going in MX2 open the door for Eli to go if AP injury doesn't improve?

My belief is that a top rider that is has just won a championship or vying for a championship, pretty much gets whatever they want from their team. I never believed it was because Star refused to fund the trip, and I also didn't believe that taking the hardware out were the real reasons behind Deagan not going, I don't know the Deagan's but I would guess it is the dad who behind this and his son is just going along with it.  It is true that racing the MXdN is not going to make them rich and he could even get hurt just racing for "his country", but I imagine Brian Deegan wants to make sure they milk every penny out of his son's career more than they care about the sport or the fans.  We have all heard more humble and honest top riders that admit that their paycheck is due to the support they get from the fan base.. buying the tickets, motorcycles, gear and sponsored goods, and without the fans, they wouldn't have that paycheck. It's their prerogative to break tradition and not race MXdN, and likewise it is my prerogative to feel they are shortchanging their fans. Some of the greatest pics and memories of past riders come from their performance at the MXdN. Who can forget that pic of Emig dragging his bars while standing in a corner or Ryan Hughes unexpected winning performance on the CR250 at the 2000 MXdN. This year's bull$h!t with the US team just takes the fire out of cheering for the home team. Aside from Sexton, we are not sending our best.  Tomac should replace Plessinger who I believe is still hurting from a recent nasty crash.  It would also be nice for the Deagan's to step up and recognize where their paycheck comes from.

You would think they would have it schedule right after SMX final instead of a week later than…

I think Webb has a real shot to win MX2, now we just need tomac and we should be the favorites to take the trophy

I wish that were true. If I recall he's missed about half of the outdoor races since moving to 450.

I get it, but the guy has been on the 450 podium many times outdoors, as recently as last year. In SX and SMX he has been right there with the top dawgs, could’ve won his 3rd title this year if not for an unfortunate thumb injury, and he’s the ultimate gamer with unfinished business at this event. Not to mention he’s on the best bike, one that he was a multi time champion on, in an MX2 class that is not as deep as years passed.

I’m sure they asked JCoop first but he left Texas in a sling so I’m sure that was a no go.

Wonder if anyone proposed the idea of asking Eli and proposing AP to move down to a 250? Not fair to AP in my opinion but certainly would be wild.

Podiums many times? Outside of his 1-1 at Millville in 2019 he has finished 3rd 5 other times. He moved to the 450s in 2017.

Respect him for going, but if there’s any full time racer in the game that finds a reason to miss outdoors it’s Webb.

I think it’s time for a new “Open Letter” to Coop.  Something on the order of:

Dear Cooper Webb,

Thank you for your willingness to go represent the USA in this year’s MXdN at a time when others won’t go for various reasons.  We are behind you 100% and know that you will give 110% effort, win or lose.

Sincerely,
‘Murica

P.S.  Please, please, pleeease go to the line with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth one more time for old times sake!!!

Not irony.....it's Deegan lying because he just doesn't want to do it instead of just saying he doesn't want to go.
